Since 2014, I have trash picked about 10 vacuums out of our condo dumpsters, mostly Bissells. My experience is the same as yours. They get tossed because of poor maintenance by their previous owners. They get clogged, have broken belts, and are missing attachments, but otherwise once I clean and fix them, they are usable machines again. I usually give them to the Goodwill. One of them was a Bissell model 9595 (with "One Pass Technology"/12 amp/HEPA) that had an enclosed dirt cup. I gave that one to my sister who is hypersensitive to dust. She loves it! Recently, I gave away a Bissell model 82H1, because it had a bad cord. A neighbor gave me that one as it was clogged. I kinda wish I kept that one as I loved the looks of it, especially with 12 amp power, HEPA, large dirt cup, and the light.
Its looked decent driving past it in the alley which is why i decided to give it a second chance on life. Alot of newer bagless vacuum cleaners get trashed because of lack of preventative maintenance. I know because i saved, fixed, and flipped quite a few of them. The Bissell's are the easiest to fix. Mostly clogged filters.
+ca31 well first of all the vacuum cleaner died. it was a good vacuum to start out with in 1997 but then 18 years later the fucking thing stops working. I plan to get a bissell lift off or cleanview helix
I used to have a land fill that was open and we took our trash there and you would not believe the stuff people trow away . I got 3 Kirby's 2 needed belts 1 needed motor brush ground flat . I seen so much great stuff there but wife said I was getting behind in my trash picks . You are lucky you are not married like me so far 26 years. I also have gotten a vacuum with 13 amps . the lady said it kept tripping the breaker. Does your trip the breaker so far?
Damn that's in better shape than mine, mine is all beat up. we used to have that same model but it was a bagged version. it's so pathetic how people just throw perfectly good vaccuums out when the belt breaks!
A friend gave me their Dirt Devil D2 ReAction upright. It's half the suction of my Shark and the noise is over the friggin top loud. Scares the bejesus out of the dog. It works, but I see why they gave it away. I thought it was some bad bearings but apparently they're all loud. I'll try to find it a home - or put it on the curb.
Blows a belt so they trash it. What a wasteful society we live in. I remember my grandma taking apart radios and such if they broke. You just don't see that anymore.
The spare belt was probably only a "doughnut." Not the full size. What people throw out these days, though some things are crap, my aunt has one like that, it over heats after a few minuets then has to get a shop vac to finish. No crinkling up cheezits and vacuuming?
Its nice looking, but as far as buying a brand new one like this i would stay away from it. The plastic is shitty, the handle release is on the right side, and you need a screwdriver to replace the belt which really sucks. A good vacuum should require no tools whatsoever to replace the belt.
why your neighbor throw the drit devil in the trash that a good vacuum cleaner it just need a other belt.that a good vacuum cleaner I head a dritdevil feathermate.

Getting rid of that is like junking a car that needs oil or new tires. Glad you saved it despite being a newer model.
got one similar from the trash too. threw a hoover belt on it wrong belt but it works so good and has since 2011
hey my dirt devil is navy blue. I bought the vacuum in 1997. it's pretty loud. but I love it.
+Draven Guinn all dirt devils get loud that's why I hate dirt devils
+ca31 I actually hate my vision. the only place it's going is to the side of the road
ha why do hate it???
+ca31 well first of all the vacuum cleaner died. it was a good vacuum to start out with in 1997 but then 18 years later the fucking thing stops working. I plan to get a bissell lift off or cleanview helix
well you may not have good luck on that vacuum because is the next 3 or 4 years it will get really loud and will stop working

It’s an honor you saved it
the brushroll sounds like a Dirt devil Featherlite F1
It was 12 amps I have seen them up to 15 amps but those trip breakers unless it is plugged in to a separate outlet.
dirst devil good brand? nice u gave it a second life in our throw away consumer society lol
randomrazr exactly a vacuum cleaner like this has a second chance and plus you don't need to bring it back to the trash
Score!! Good save. People are so...wasteful to say the least

change the filters they may be making the vacuum strain
this is better than a pos dirt devil vibe

My Ma has the blue one of these, owned it for i say 18 years or probably 19 at the least
sad, but true
I like your vacuum you got dude that’s a nice dirt devil swivel glide

Check ebay. www.ebay.com/itm/VNTG-Dirt-Devil-Swivel-Glide-MVP-Vision-HEPA-Vacuum-Cleaner-086915-G-BLACK/324348266236
the one we had was from 1999 and still made in USA but I guess they're all made in china now
Cool my man

I really agree that bissell is better than dirt devils and even the new eurekas. I would say bissell as a brand is 3rd place behind shark and Dyson.
Bissell isn't good usually because the filters clog so easily but if it's maintained its okay. Only okay for a Walmart vac
ToyotaCelicaDude1 my Eureka Altima is almost 11yrs old
How come the porformance indicator wheel doesn't spin when it's turned on ?
It's not supposed to unless it's clogged
