"This is grandpa's drill" says the 75-year-old Tom. Which means the drill is from the 1880s. Very cool

Old? My grandfather used to say: "old is the ocean and still moves", they looked like two motivated youngsters working on a school project. What a great memory to share in the years to come, not only both brother working together but using grandpa's drill! Great episode.

Seems TLC/History both find people that grossly overestimate the value of stuff, $500 knife made out of a railroad spike and $2 old file? we have that here. $1000 mug made out of old copper pipes? we got that. some museum going to blow $5000 on a generic wood canoe, they got that too

its only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. most look at the difference between a hand crafted $5000 canoe, and an $800 fiberglass one with exactly the same dimensions... and buy the $800 one..
why? its the exact same use for much much less money, and you could buy anything else with that money. Problem with hand made nowadays, its a collectors market... and handmade fell to machine's :-( and anyone can do it without a skill in they're body.
The arts are being lost... we need teachers.

Cultural appropriation takes place when members of a majority group adopt cultural elements of a minority group in an exploitative, disrespectful, or stereotypical way. To fully understand its consequences, though, we need to make sure we have a working definition of culture itself.
