I remember that entire Vegas run in 1990! Was my senior year in HS and I predicted when the brackets came out they were gonna win the entire thing and they more than didn't disappoint me! And the cuts like a knife precision they showed in the finals' beat down of Duke was a basketball clinic! I'm a die-hard Duke fan and I knew once Vegas had played the second half they did against Ga Tech, that we had absolutely no chance! 1990 UNLV is the greatest one season national champion ever
First of three NCAA western regional finals in my hometown of Deep EASTSIDE Oakland. This was the greatest Lmu vs. Nevada-Las Vegas. As they were known as the runnin' rebels.
1990 UNLV Runnin' Rebels not only the best Vegas team ever (nod over '91 because of David Butler - he was the do everything center that Ackles was not and '91 overall they played a weaker schedule); but they r the best one season team of all-time in college basketball! The way they played throughout the '90 tournament and especially against Duke, they could have beaten any team from any generation
Such a shame not only Hank Gathers couldn't play in this game, obviously that he isn't still alive. Had he played, UNLV would have won this game. But just know the game would still be talked about as one of the greatest basketball games in history. What a time and what great teams.
This unlv team was absolutely 💯 unbelievable. But the unlv team that lost to Duke in the championship game going in undefeated was better even though they lost.
This team here was great, and the following year, they got beat by Duke, which l think they played like they already were going to win that game. The 2 unlv teams of the 90s were arguably the best teams of all time, including the undefeated Indiana team. Ucla had better teams than both winning 7 straight national championships under john Wooden

Facts! And should of repeated.
That UNLV/Georgia Tech game is underrated. Go figure one ACC team gave the Rebels a run for their money and the other got blown out
THIS DA BEST ERA OF COLLEGE BASKETBALL🏀 ..
No doubt
Compared to the crap that they call college basketball today.
I watched LMU is amazement in 1990 with their reckless abandon style of play. I'm even more amazed and entertained watching them today in 2021!
@Don You don't need the word "in", in that sentence.
We haven't seen anything like it since!
UNLV paid the ultimate tribute to Hank Gathers by running through the hole created by his absence.
I remember watching this game at home as a 9th grader. I saw this blowout by UNLV.
Thank you so much for posting this
That Hunt to LJ lob...that was it.
Those UNLV teams are soooooooo beloved! #Legendary 🏆✊🏿 #SALUTE
Our drought has reached 32 years since winning...maybe Allegiant Field will host an NCAA playoff game.
LMU played the way teams play now, that’s crazy. But nobody was beating this UNLV team

The whole world was rooting for LMU that year i remember.

Someone needs to add this to the Winning Time chronology. The pieces are already there

She was lovely.
UNLV beat LMU earlier that year with Hank Gathers. UNLV was without 2 starters.
LMU played no defense at all. Run, fire it up and that is it.

They came to my hometown oakland,ca.
How sad.....😁
RIP HANK. BO AND FRYER WERE THE BEST 🤙🤙🤙

Very good game!!!
The PA should let the visiting team be introduced first, followed by a laser light show for the home team.
It was a neutral site game.
Good game
