This was one of 4 straight games in that year's tournament where this UNLV team played "good" but not close to the standard they had set throughout the season. They normally won by Dream Team-like scores, even against top non-conference teams. But in this tournament they just won in workmanlike fashion and did not resemble the intimidating juggernaut they had been. Came back to bite them in the next game.
Duno, they won their first game our the tourney by 34 against Montana or someone like that, their largest MOV of all their wins in that 1990-91 10 game streak.
Complacency definitely set in. After beating the brakes of Arkansas at their place, maybe not much left to prove? After scoring over 100 points 3 times in the '90 tournament, they didn't break 100 once during the '91 tourney. As you eloquently stated, they relied on big 2nd half runs to get by, and that never came in the next game.
I love when people upload these full games from this era and we get to see those 90s commercial breaks. Lmao so cool 😂😎
At this point, UNLV , to me , was the greatest collegiate team in NCAA history.
Yep from the end of this game to about another week or so.
I still cant believe they lost to Duke Greg Anthony fouled out changed the whole game
@@CharlesSmith-mj4lj oh please, even with him in the game it was close throughout.i like how nobody gives duke any credit. coach k outcoached tark
For those unaware, Dick Stockton (the play-by-play man) and Lesley Visser (the sideline reporter) were married from 1983 to 2010.
Wtf? Wow.
LJ, Greg Anthony, Stacey Augmon, and Anderson Hunt vs Terry Dehere.
LJ was a beast

i feel u i think they just didnt think anybody could come close and there opponent didnt think they had a chance either no challenge!!!!
@@bassclay100 JR Rider was supposed to play on the 1991 team, but was held out. If he plays for the 91 Rebels, they walk away with the chip easy.
@@therealdarrell282 good lord they were already undefeated maybe they beat everyone by 50/60 lolo

Any luck on finding anymore UNLV games from this era?
If you have the full version of the 1991 1st rounder against Montana I quit.
do you have the utah game from this tourney or any of the 87 run?
Last time the UNLV band would be playing ":We are the champions" after a game.
Can’t believe some of the terrible calls against UNLV in this game!!!
