Just a suggestion, but if your air dog is anything like my fass, you should reroute your returns in the sending unit. I had mine done like yours and it kept blowing the float off the level sender
please please greg keep videoing all the up grades you are doing on the 2nd gen i have a 1997 obs f350 dully fitted with a 5.9 cummins ISB 24 valve i find all your videos very helpfull as information and parts are a bit thin on the ground in england keep up the good work greg
Wow she’s lookin great and she doesn’t even have a bed on yet! Would you consider painting the whole truck in GM 409Y, it is a GM color but I think if you color matched the grille, mirrors, bumpers, etc it would look incredible, keep up the work Greg!
What size and length of bolt did you use to mount the air dog bracket to the frame? Want to put it there on my daily driver dont want any downtime looking for bolts thou
Awesome awesome video Greg A, sweet getting the fuel system fixed up first thing on the 2nd Gen, and boy I sure have first hand experience with failing lift pumps and VP’s on these. The VP doesn’t like to be the one sucking fuel from the tank, and pushing it to the injectors. So yeah if you buy one, first thing first put the Air Dog on it, and possibly change out the VP with a new one lol. Or go Air Dog and P-Pump swap it lol. When the VP starts going bad it causes the engine to do what I call hiccup, and it literally feels like there’s a hiccup in power lol. Scared me the first time mine I had did it I thought the whole engine was about to blow lol. And I do like the 5th Gens I’m proud to see ram was the first to surpass the 1000 lb ft of torque mark with the Cummins, beating the power joke and the Duracrap lol. And they have an all new weight saving high strength steel fully boxed frame, with the Dually and High Output Cummins tow rating is now at a class leading 35,000 lb again beating ford and gm to that punchline also, Ram is leading the industry with the Cummins!
Question why not snip the old pig tails for the OEM fuel pump IMO over time since the clip is not secured just flopping around wont it break over time? and fall into that air dog fitting at the bottom of the tank? IMO just preventative failure
@greg_a is there a way to replace or mod the vent port on the fuel tank. It builds up pressure in the tank like its not venting properly. Any help would be appreciated.
Great video, I enjoy watching all the mods and upgrades you do on your trucks. I was wondering on the sump you put in a beans sump. What are your thoughts on the G&R Diesel Fuel Tank Sump? It has the return line built in next to the feed line. Keep up all the great videos.
John Brown would be very difficult to get all the way up to the turbo, as long as the guy running the blaster wasn’t a complete idiot I’m sure it’s fine. Now if they were being an idiot and shoved the blaster up the pipe that would be different.
Greg, the 2nd Gen is starting to shape up nicely. Looking forward to seeing it run again. In my opinion, the 5th Gen 2019 trucks are over rated. The 2019 HD Cummins HOV torque is impressive (1,000 ft-lbs), but I want to know how many pounds of boost does the new HOV 6.7 produce? For the 2019 Cummins 6.7L HOV, Ram should have used a bigger inter-cooler, and compounds to manage EGT's and towing power for drive-ability. Also, Ram should dump the VGT turbo (and use compound turbos) to improve the turbo lag. Frankly, I will keep my 2nd & 3rd Gens.
5th gen is a very nice truck .. Engine has a ton of power but I'm not a super big fan of hydraulic roller tappets they are good in a race engine but I'm not sure you'll get 400 - 500 thousand out of the engine ..I think solid tappets and adjustable rockers will give better dependability and higher mileage ..
Greg! Great vid, I wanted to know how good that rev max valve body you installed in your buddy’s truck? I’m interested in doing the same on mine. Keep up the awesome video man!!
2019 ram HD not having a manual option means I'll never buy a new truck again ... what do you think? Not all of us have $7000 lying around to dump into an auto to make it tow worthy
ibidu1 he can’t do body work, shop is too small and the market margin is not there currently... his “skills” are very limited, if you can’t do paint/body and weld you won’t make it and he does not have those skill sets!
ibidu1 You wouldn’t make your money back. Say you buy a wrecked 06 for 4K. Till you do all the body work and make everything mechanically sound you’ll be 15k+ into it. Wouldn’t be a bad way to build a truck to keep, but definitely not worth the effort to sell it right away
The lift pump from factory runs 12 psi at idle speed and 10 psi wot. Not trying to be a critic but just have a few years experience in the 24 valve vp trucks
Btw I do love the videos. I have been looking forward for a 2nd gen dodge to enter the Greg A garage. But you do need to put a quadzilla on the 2nd gen
@@griffinmead934 I am currently building my 02. I have the TST/TS MVP stack. Is the quadzilla really that badass? I've been looking for someone that has ran it.
Charles Peterson II I have not ran it but i have really looked into it and am extremely interested in the system. I think it would be badass on this truck.
@@griffinmead934It does look pretty darn sweet! I'm finishing my build now and deciding to stick with my TST comp or buy the quadzilla. Still got till spring to decide.
I swear I never knew how many holes the factory drills in the frames . Insane , looks like Swiss cheese and gives me doubts of it's integrity . OCD is a bitch .
Why do i always have problems with your videos playing smooth? Ever since you switched to the higher quality it plays so choppy, and not a buffering issue cause i can pause it for a min and still does same thing. Not complaining video is watchable just annoys me cause its only your videos.. other wise love the progress cant wait to see this thing running! You always make me want a new truck! Lol
I don’t know why manufactures don’t yield to the public and let tuning be easier. The aftermarket seems to be on their game these days with working on new models, I don’t get why they make stuff so hard, even keep the emissions shit in the mix but don’t make everything so dam hard. People that want to modify will.
you will not kill a VP instantly without lift pump working , I know of a truck without a lift pump guy took it right out , its running on VP only for 10 years now and I know of people with 15 psi since new (gauge installed ) and their VP died at 40k miles . Its a lottery with no rhyme or reason ,
All of that junk in the bottom of the fuel pump is the reason why I would never put a sump on a street truck. Fuel is dirty. I don’t want my lift pump working any harder than it has to.
so happy your building a 2nd gen. my favorite body style by far.
Yep. I have a 02. And lift pump went. N had to replace the VP 44. Going to upgrade soon to a air dog soon. Just have a upgraded one on the firewall.
Absolutely loving the music you’re using on this vid. Keep her up Greg!
I recently bought a fass but i haven't put it on yet
Keep up the badass content
Did sand get to the turbo in the exhaust pipe?
love the change in music

Greg_a rust deletion on frame looks awesome 😎
I can't wait to see the rest of the fueling upgrades.
Just ordered a 150gph raptor for my Fummins Excursion. The 165 on my 6.4 F350 is great so I'm sticking with them.
Did you tape off the exhaust before sand blasting?!
Greg is a role model for me! Hope I can meet you in real one day :)
I watch your videos and I am pretty sure I seen you have a Jeep I was wondering your opinion on the diesel Jeep Grand Cherokee thank you
Does the tank have any fuel slosh door or anything like that or is it completely empty inside the tank?
You should test the HP limits for the vp44!
Why isn't there any airdog/fass installation videos for p pump 12 valves?
Greg A where can I find a fuel filter delete for 2nd gen dodge?

Anybody know where he gets his AN fittings?
AIR bubbles.. Greg, without running the return line down into the tank dont you think it will create alot of air bubbles into the tank?
The airdog is an air/water separator
@@superflyguy218 The less air in the line before the pump the better.
Better than TV!

frame on the 2nd gen looks awesome and I cant wait to get my air dog for my longhorn..... take care
The rear is awesome the front looks rusted. Why not coat the whole thing? Looks like rubber coating.
How much did the sand blasting roughly cost
If that exhaust pipe was open like that i can't imagine the sand up in the exhaust side of the turbo housing i would clean that out for sure

Nice work buddy!! Keep them vids coming!! Your wife have you on a New Years diet or did you put a slim lens on your camera?😎
hope there is an airdog give away soon lol my 01 gets all of 8 lbs at idle and i cant afford a pump

Why dont you buy wrecked diesel trucks and rebuild/mod them on your channel, you can flip them and also make money off the deals.
ibidu1 he can’t do body work, shop is too small and the market margin is not there currently... his “skills” are very limited, if you can’t do paint/body and weld you won’t make it and he does not have those skill sets!

Hits the filter before the pump
William Uskoski I still don’t trust it. I’d rather leave all that crap at the bottom of the tank where it belongs.
