PPG CART IndyCar World Series Budweiser Grand Prix of Cleveland Burke Lakefront Airport Cleveland, Ohio 85 laps on a 2.369 mile road course (201.4 miles) July 8, 1990
This change to the track layout helped this Cleveland race out making this new turn 1 the highlight/personality of the race. Crazy pit fire, the teams all working together.
I remember watching all these lakefront races in the 1990s as a kid! One thing that stood out from the start of this particular race is Michael using the tow line to get back to the pits under green. It's hard to believe that was allowed in 1990. I know things were "different" then but safety/procedures were pretty modern by then....

The injured crew member at 1:28:26 happens to be the current IndyCar Vice President of Competition and Race Director Brian Barnhart
This happened directly after the French GP. Was watching the ESPN coverage, and I got interested how Cart was in 1990. Insane.

interesting that they rarely used the word cart to describe the series until they had to in 96. it was always indycar/indycars.
