So the partscaster had skinny frets that I just didn’t like, and was originally made wrong with the bridge in the wrong place so intonation was off. I was able to fill and redrill all of the wrong holes to correct that but the skinny frets mean it just wasn’t for me. The Squire was the first one I picked up and felt pretty great from the start. I did roll the edges of the fretboard more and filed/polished the fret ends but otherwise it played as good as any modern American Standard I’ve played which is what sent me down this path. Last is the “vintage” Mexican Strat. That guitar has mojo, plays amazing and has honest wear and yellowing that make it look great. Not sure if that is a fluke guitar from that year or just fits me perfectly, but feels and plays better than most Custom Shop Strats I’ve tried. In the end I kept the affinity as an experiment guitar, took apart the partscaster and sold everything except the electronics and put the electronics in the Mexican Strat as well as the vintage style tuners. Now it sounds as good as it plays.
They all sounded surprisingly good. What is difference in feel and playability?
