Sinvertek SHOD Set Done the WRONG Way
Mr. Wu is the genius behind the Sinvertek SHOD-A and SHOD-B, and his suggestion is to run them B (overdrive) into A (Klon). In some respects this makes sense as it follows the overdrive with boost behind mentality, but this isn't a normal overdrive. It was designed to give the combined tone of a high end overdrive pedal running into a vintage amp. So my thought was, why not run the Klon style SHOD-A into the front of that to boost the gain more? I am sure glad I did.

Sinvertek Invincible Overdrive Precious Set (SHOD A+B) Unboxing - First Impressions
มุมมอง 269หลายเดือนก่อน
The Invincible Overdrive set from Sinvertek and the mind of Mr. Wu is made up of his Super Harmonic Overdrive pedals known as SHOD-A and SHOD-B. SHOD-A is a heavily modified Klon style pedal that has more mids, harmonics and dynamic range. SHOD-B is a full spectrum boost/overdrive pedal with rich harmonics designed to push a crunchy amp into beautiful overdrive full of harmonics. It blooms much...

Cheap Strats, are they worth?
มุมมอง 1912 หลายเดือนก่อน
I decided to purchase the cheapest Stratocaster I could find in my area to use as a practice guitar for doing fretwork etc. Picked up a Squire Affinity for $100 that sounded and played fantastic. So this got me thinking, what other strats could I pick up for cheap locally, and how good could they be? PRS MT100 Channels 1 & 2
มุมมอง 2318 หลายเดือนก่อน
The PRS MT100 is a high gain monster of an amp, at an incredible price. While most people buy it for its third channel with all its brutal and aggressive glory, I was just as interested in the other two channels. The first channel is clean almost to a fault, no breakup available here. The second channel is based off the feel (not tone or circuit) of Mark's favorite Dumble and indeed does have b...

I’m pretty sure it can do Kossoff, just not sure I can! 😆
My Dumbloid arrives today and I have the DUMKUDO TWIN CUSTOM (10mA) arriving next week...Yay me! Great demo btw buddy, I do enjoy your channel...
Thanks and nice pedals! You’re going to be having fun!
I have the N5+s-dnp-235love it.
I am finding all of Mr Wu’s designs to be amazing to play.
I would be happy, nice score
To be clear I bought 10 boxes and these weren't in the same box. I'll be demoing some of the other pedals as I start to understand how to use them.
Nice I love my life support
I'm really digging it too! Haven't heard of the company before but it's a pretty great sounding pedal.
Good playing man, sound good through any amp. I would rather hear that through a Marshall super lead that isn't breaking up to much
Thanks. A crunchy supper lead would be awesome!
Wtf is that title? Disgusting
Hey thanks for commenting. As far as the title, I’ll eventually be doing a comparison to my Two-Rock TS1, considered by many one of the best ODS inspired amps. I was surprised how close the Mk III actually gets.
???
Let’s look at the common features between the amps. A Fender-ish clean channel with mid and gain boosts, multiple EQ shifts, and a second gain stage placed AFTER the tone stack (a particularly unique feature of these two specific amps at the time). But the most significant thing they had in common was that they were designed during the same period by two guys who were practically neighbors out in California. Alexander Dumble and Randall Smith, along with Mike Soldano, Bob Bradshaw, John Suhr, and others in the area, took the the single channel amps of the 60s and pushed them to the limits with more gain, multiple channels, effects loops, and pretty much every other feature we expect in a “modern amp.” It shouldn’t surprise anyone that a Dumble and a Mark III sound similar to each other.
@markwilliams142 Right on, and the EQ is so powerful in the MK III that it can cover a lot of ground. I’ll definitely compare it to my TS-1, but I’m also wondering how close it can get to a Marshall or other Fender based tones.
It’s just a blackface style amp. The entire mark series is.
Anyone that has looked inside of one can tell you that isn’t true. Unless you’re talking about it at a very base level, like saying both a Dumble and a Marshall are just a Bassman.
All amps are basically a fender amp.
this dude rocks!
Thanks!
😂 I just saw your video, and your post on reverb, those things are selling like hotcakes as soon as they hit the market! Congrats on a sweet box pull and a nice sell. I got 2 boxes and 2 bs Wombtones. I'm enjoying the phaser and have a plan for the other Wombtone. I've got one more box coming, probably get it late Jan. Hoping I'm as lucky as you were here.
Thanks! I can’t believe they actually sold, I put the first one up basically as a joke and it was gone in minutes. Seriously had to think about even listing the other one (some days I still regret selling my acid etched ayahuasca) so I bumped the price even more. Still sold in minutes. 🤷♂️ great pedal, but not worth keeping to me unfortunately.
Just got the less special edition set. I'm loving it but I don't have much experience with all the od/klon and preamp pedals out there. So I'm looking forward to hearing your opinion
Awesome! I’m curious how different the “precious” edition really is as already the SHODA is only marginally better than a Tumnus. I can already see the difficulty in comparisons to come since recording and then uploading to TH-cam is going lose a good bit of the difference.
@GuitarTonePro I had the same thought about how different the precious vs regular are. I've got an older ckk scream honey, it's similar to the shoda set, but the shoda def sounds better. So maybe Wu really is improving the design with each iteration. The tumnus seems like it has the bar pretty high for this type of pedal.
The Tumnus is great because it has extra low mids like the SHODA does. I’ve compared it to 3 Centaurs, a KTR and a couple Archer and other clones. The SHOD is the first pedal of this type to have something the Tumnus doesn’t which is high harmonic content that blooms as the note rings much like the lead channel of a TS-1.
Thanks for doing these. These pedals are really underserved regarding youtube demos.
You’re welcome. They are just getting delivered to people so maybe more will show up. Then again they are very limited and quite expensive, so maybe not.
Nice video andrew! Looking forward to your next video on the stacked pedals. As a standalone pedal which of the 2 do you prefer?
Depends on the application. Into a clean amp the B has more gain an is somewhat similar to the MGAT series in a simplified standard overdrive package. Like a high gain Marshall tone. Into any driven/lead channel amp, the volume of the A with its EQ curve does something pretty special that so far I’ve only really gotten from a Kingsley tube based boost.
Andrew here! I just wanted to clarify that I goofed in this video and mixed up which pedal is what. The SHODA is the Klon based pedal and the SHODB is the Pre-amp OD Gain Stage. No manual comes with the pedals and the site lists the pedals in B then A order as well as tells you to run B (the preamp) into A (Klon) which is backwards of how a Klon and amp would be used.
They all sounded surprisingly good. What is difference in feel and playability?
So the partscaster had skinny frets that I just didn’t like, and was originally made wrong with the bridge in the wrong place so intonation was off. I was able to fill and redrill all of the wrong holes to correct that but the skinny frets mean it just wasn’t for me. The Squire was the first one I picked up and felt pretty great from the start. I did roll the edges of the fretboard more and filed/polished the fret ends but otherwise it played as good as any modern American Standard I’ve played which is what sent me down this path. Last is the “vintage” Mexican Strat. That guitar has mojo, plays amazing and has honest wear and yellowing that make it look great. Not sure if that is a fluke guitar from that year or just fits me perfectly, but feels and plays better than most Custom Shop Strats I’ve tried. In the end I kept the affinity as an experiment guitar, took apart the partscaster and sold everything except the electronics and put the electronics in the Mexican Strat as well as the vintage style tuners. Now it sounds as good as it plays.
@ thanks
@bluwng welcome!
They both sound good. Rwrp is a warmer, cleaner, polished sound. While the standard is definitely vintage, little brighter, raw sounding. That's a tough call. It's probably a good excuse to buy another stratocaster😮
Any reason to buy a new Strat is fine by me! 😆
Great demo , no one else’s pointed out these fader issues , in a live settings it could be annoying, thx
Thanks, I found it really surprising no one mentions the noise floor when using the mid boost circuit. With some amps it can be quite bad and requires you turn the pedal off to cut the noise since it doesn’t decrease with the guitars volume.
Sick riffs bro, my favorite pedal of all time. This and the OCD germanium are the only ones ill ever need
I’ll have to check out one of the Ge OCD pedals.
👏👏👏👏👏🇧🇷
Thanks!
Love to see real music keep it going. Much love
Thanks you for the kind words!
Sick bro 😊
Thanks!
god less you
F**K YEAH!
Rock on! 🤘
Gotta get the fenris
Heck yeah! Can’t go wrong with either of these fine pedals.
Hey man, could you share your favorite settings? Thx
That’s tough as the pedal is pretty interactive based on the guitar and amp you use it with. The pdf is a good place to start for typical Marshall sounds. From there it reacts a lot like a Marshall so some of the rules apply as well, such as a lack of base in a Plexi until the gain is past 2 o’clock or diming the mids will tighten it up. Don’t be afraid to to go extreme with the settings either, a lot of times when going to a cleaner tone I’ll have the bass almost all the way up.
@yo_soy_pmd Ok, played around with the pedal some more to find a good starting point. These settings are about what I use going into my Bloomfield Drive with all of its knobs set to noon. All pedal setting are expressed in o’clock values. Volume to unity (just below 9), Gain a hair below 3, presence 12, Treble 12:30, Middle 1, Base 2:30. Switches are: top end down, low end down, densitity up, golden era down, gain structure up, gain saturations middle and right. For me at least these settings work on all 3 channels with my Strat.
멋진 연주를 즐기고 갑니다. 덕분에 기쁨니다.
매우 감사합니다
It's gotta be good if it can make a PRS sound decent :)
Yeah, sorry for using such a crummy guitar for this demo! XD
Hahaha
Nice simple demonstration - thank you for taking the time to do it. You can hear the Two Rock doing its thing the whole time, which shows the relative transparency of the pedal circuit. Your video helped confirm me acquiring a CC-1, which now sits on a small board that will be used with a single Morgan JS12 combo and mainly humbuckers (SG), so it’s quite good in a range of situations. I find with all the Cornish stuff that it sounds best at gig levels - which I appreciate is what they’re intended for - and can be underwhelming at low vols. I have a Duplex on my wet/dry (TR and Matchless) board and they just add a great mid range that isn’t in any way honky, and sound better the louder you can get away with.
Cornish pedals definitely are more at home at gig volumes! Now you say that your CC-1 sits one a “small” board, but I find that hard to believe based on the size of that thing!
@@GuitarToneProI use the term loosely! Couple gain stages, couple of wet effects. To be fair, the size of the enclosure of Pete’s stuff - even the battery-free ones - means you can squeeze them up against other pedals and still hit the button on stage. With smaller pedals, I tend to leave a bit of a gap between them to avoid hitting more than one, so it’s not much more real estate - from side to side at least.
@onenotesolo256 That’s true, except that he still puts the jacks on the sides. Really wish they were top mount.
@@GuitarTonePro very good point
It's the guitarist not the guitar❤
Such kind words, thank you.
what is the difference between this version and the regular one?
This one is more accurate to the vintage amps but doesn’t have a high gain JVM mode. The high gain mode is Mr Wu’s take on a modded JCM800 but supposedly the way the other modes react to the signal (for example the guitar volume knob) is supposed to be even closer to the actual amps. In practice, it’s generally brighter and more open sounding. I still have the original so I’ll try and do a comparison at some point, but some of the settings don’t come across well after TH-cam compressed the video.
Can it achieve decent tone at bedroom volume levels while others are sleeping?
Really depends on just how low you need it to be. I play at night when everyone is asleep and can crank 100 watt amps because I’m in a basement offset. But as far as a “bedroom” volume amp, the high gain channel is ok at low volumes, but the other two channels don’t do a great job IMO. Unless you play out (and quite loud at that) as well as bedroom levels, this isn’t the amp for you. It’s like old Boogies where the volume goes from can’t hear to too loud by blowing on the knob.
@@GuitarTonePro Thank the Lord for the Fryette Power Station.
@aaron9142 that would totally solve the problem.
Nice!!
Thanks!
Absolutely fantastic have a wonderful day also I have a stomach ache also a stomach flu ❤🤢

just a guy playing for about 6 min 😂
Yep, making it my goal to start talking in my videos this year but right now it’s hard just to find time to record at all. 😆
Он работает как бустер в данном случае?
Нет, он используется для легкой езды без особого увеличения громкости.
Nice demo. This pedal is a favorite of mine. It really sounds great straight into clean power amp too. Doesn’t even need to be a tube power amp. Really a great full amp in a box pedal. I have the old MGAT-1 Hyper Preamp too. They both sound great into front of an amp on clean channel, but I think the Golden Era sounds a little better than the Hyper Preamp when going straight into solid state pedal power amp pushing my cab. Wu is really a Marshall enthusiast to create such a great sounding pedal. Pedal is quiet and has good sensitivity and response to pick attack and guitar volume rolloff.
Couldn’t agree more, both MGATs have become some of my favorite overdrive pedals and pretty much just work however you run them. The original is still worth keeping for the higher gain sounds, but I agree the GE is just a bit more responsive to the guitar.
I love my Austin Pride. Thorpy did a handful of new Boneyard fuzz pedals over Christmas, and I got the heads-up from Adrian... Boneyard arrived, and I had a huge smile on my face for days... The K.O.T I ordered will be mine sometime after August this year...5 year wait FFS.
Awesome! That is a great set of pedals.
Thanks for the much-awaited demo of this version of the pedal! Some ZZ Top sounds in there, which I didn't expect, but am excited about.
Your welcome! It’s lower gain than the original in general, but also a bit more lively with sizzle. Hopefully I’ll find some time soon to do a comparison of the suggested presets between the original and the golden era.
A very low amount of overdrive. Nothing compared to other tube overdrives.
Yes, meant to be very mild overdrive, but also this video was shot back in the days of “transparent” overdrives heyday. It was a strange time where people got excited that you could turn on an overdrive pedal and hear no change. Check out my new video on this pedal. th-cam.com/video/Ph8VNfHUT-M/w-d-xo.htmlsi=11-5bXiGSe0rtSUK
killer tone , but I´ve never seen such a complex small pedal XD
Totally! I had bought a spare of the original worrying about all those small switches, but it’s had zero issues. Those small switches actually make a pretty big difference in this pedal and give all the variations that let you match, or customize, to authentic tones.
Ps. And yes, fantastic playing! That helps illustrate the greatest of PC’s effects.
Thank you for the kind words!
Yes. (Answer to your question. The cost is as much the wait as the actual cost). Thanks so much for this demonstration!
You’re welcome!
I forgot to mention, in true rock and roll fashion, the Solarist and the Bloomfield Drive turned out to be too much for the UA OX and caused it to shutdown at the end! That is why the sound just cuts off and you can catch just a glimpse of my confused/concerned face.
killer :)
Thanks!
At 7:49, you make it SING
Thank you for the kind words!
Can't say either don't sound wonderful! Almost entirely attributed to your playing and secondarily your rig as a whole but I definitely favor the AP by a fairly large margin from what you demonstrated of the tonal capabilities of each in this particular instance! Thank you for everything you do to share with the community!
Thank you so much for your kind words! Both great pedals, similar in many ways, but react and sound different in others.
Nice playing, nice demo. So, what do you think? Is it worth it? It sounds very nice. Also, do you need to play super loud to get a good tone out of the pedal or do you think it's good sounding at lower volumes too?
I don’t think the pedal needs to be played loud for it to work. It’s a very dynamic pedals that sounds good even quiet. Is it worth it? See my other video comparing it to the Brothers by Chase Bliss. For the way I was using it I could get VERY close in tone and feel, and that pedal has a lot more options available.
I bought this CC-1 from you. Were you the first owner? I love it, by the way. Great playing, my friend.
Thanks for your kind words. No I bought that pedal used as well. It is a fantastic pedal, and does a certain kind of cleanup without changing volume that very few pedals can do.
Best demo of not only this pedal but Fuzz in general. Really demonstrates how to utilise fuzz. Great playing. Thanks for sharing. 2 years on. Is it still being used?
Thanks for the kind words! Unfortunately I had to let it go to get back my ‘59 Strat. I do need to revisit the Fjord Fuzz brand again, but there are just so many good fuzzes out now.
