I was born that year but my first trip to Indiana Beach was in the Summer of 1990 when I was still 2 years old! I have gone almost every Summer since despite some changes over the years! Some good some bad but Indiana Beach is still an institution to me and it always will be. Honestly, no Summer is complete without a trip to Indiana Beach!
WOW, that was awesome. Mom & dad where hip driving the Chevy Blazer. I notice the Calumet City sticker in the windshield. Cal City boy myself. Thanks for posting, and thank mom n dad for taking the video. It's a gem of IB history. Craw Craw
So cool!! My parents were from Hegwisch originally and we lived in Cal City until I was about 5!! That blazer was LIFE! I miss it so much!! Thank you!!
@@CoronationCreationI like how mom got you snug as a bug in the back of the blazer. Everything a little girl will ever need in life right there in the back seat.
Just got back from the place! my 11th year going there! its a family tradition to go every year! its crazy that its been open for 95 years!! my grandpa (who is 71) has been going there sense he was a little boy! i have always wanted to learn the history! its very sad though to see how understaffed they are... but hopefully it will have more employes by next year!
I bet he's got so many stories to tell!! If you stop in to the History Center the volunteers know their stuff! I know they'd be thrilled to talk with you! Hmm...I wonder if I could get one of them to do like a walking history tour for the channel!! That would be so cool!
Wow great video. Spent the 90's going there for thr weekend as a kid with my family. Also stayed at the riviera hotel loved that place. Taking my son there this October and going to hopefully go every year like I did as a kid
Thank you!! The 90’s at IB were amazing! 🥰 Be sure to check the operating calendar! I believe the park is closing early this year, in September! Sharing it with your kid is an amazing feeling! 🥰
Although I went a couple of years ago with my daughter, I can still remember the gravel smell on the walk to the trolley boats that smelled of old treated wood and gasoline and going to the carnival. Can't forget everybody touching the overpass! Also, the year Street Fighter 2 was in the Game Barn brings back good memories.
So many great memories, spent every summer of my childhood in Monticello at my grandparents. It's weird seeing the rapids ride without the hurricane next to it. Great video!
Isn't it?! I love watching old videos and seeing how many things have changed and we can't imagine it any other way now! Summers in Monticello - what could be better?! You're very lucky!
Go to 6:37 to get straight to the Indiana Beach footage!
Love the old school Blazer!
I have a 94’ K5 that I still drive down there every year!
Crazy how little it has changed!
So true!! That's one of my favorite parts about it!!

The riveria is where my family always stayed when we went to Indiana beach. We went for maybe 14-15 years of my life and I have so many memories there
We probably shared the pool at some point!! Those were the days!!
2:48 That’s where the Go Kart place is
Went there growing up from the early 80s to early 90s. Thanks for posting!
Awesome footage

I was about to comment something similar. My grandparents had a summer home there so I went here so many times during the summer
Miss the old Mystery Mansion!
Me too - the edge of the ride is seen briefly at 17:49
YES! Although I've heard so many stories of people getting out of the cars to scare the next car coming through lol! That might have scarred me lol!!
The park was so much better in the 80’s
Everything was! lol! But I do still love the nostalgia there!
Grew up in Monticello and even lived one winter (early 80s) at the Riviera! Thanks for the memories!
How cool!! I so miss the old Riviera! It was so beautiful!!
😊😊😊😊🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Sounds like an EAS scenario Because of the cam
Love this... from the K5 blazer to the Rocky rapids..
