  • Wild Atlantic Way Road Trip Vlog Series - Rosses Point Sea Shanty Festival 2018
In this episode we continue along the Wild Atlantic Way arrive at Rosses Point in time for their Sea Shanty Festival. It is an annual festival to raise funds for their lifeboat (RNLI) and what a weekend it was. We were only planning on staying for one night and we had so much fun that we ended up staying for two.
We were given a guided tour of the lifeboat station - which was fab and got to stand inside the boat. The lifeboat is all funded by public donations and does an amazing job in saving those in trouble at sea.
The local pubs Austie's and Harry's came alive all weekend with Shanty singers who entertained everyone with songs of pirates and the sea and there was a fabulous atmosphere - everyone joined in.
Singers came from various countries including the UK, Holland, Denmark, Germany, Sweden and of course their own local singers.
The Wild Atlantic Way is one of the longest designated coastal road trips in the world at over 2,500 km long. Our road trip of the Wild Atlantic Way started at the most Northern Point of Ireland - Malin Head and finished all the way at the bottom in the town of Kinsale.
The Wild Atlantic way is a road trip of a lifetime and that’s why we just had to do it and produce a travel series of vlogs of our experiences along this magical road. We saw beautiful and dramatic cliffs, stunning beaches, the best sunsets, met lots of lovely people, sung at a shanty festival and saw Ireland at it’s best. If you come to Ireland you must visit the Wild Atlantic Way - even if you can’t do the complete road trip just go and do part of it - absolutely awesome and what a road trip to start off our never ending journey around the Globe.

Hey guys. Great to see you getting involved with local life - the Sea Shanty festival looked like loads of fun - especially with a guiness or three!!! Then suddenly you heard a plop......

Looked like you had a great time at Rosses point, plenty of craic. Hope your phone is sorted, putting it in rice is the best you can do to extract any moisture.
