I come actually from extended family, I am one of the five siblings . But now I stay with my parents, all of my brother and sisters got married and lived in other cities. I am nearly 32 years old and a single guy looking for love right now. I take after my mother because I am so economic and serious about life. I look like my grandfather as I guess. All in all we have a really tight realationship to my family members, we always meet up with each other and doing some fun to make our lives interesting. So it is all about my family 😊 thanks for your attention and time to look through it patiently 😉 thank you Keith as well and wish you the best of luck with your job posting!

Hello Keith! Thanks a lot for your lesson! You are the best! I come from a small family. I was an only child. My father passed away 25 years ago. My mother is still alive. Bless her. I see my mother a lot. I look like my mother, but I take after my father. Mom and I have our differences. Sometimes we fall out, but then we make up. Anyway, I love her. And I'm sure we are a tightly knit family. I am a parent. I have a son. He is 9 years old. As a parent, I try not to be overprotective. But to be honest sometimes I can be overprotective. I'm working on it. I don't want to spoil my son.

I come from a small family. I am one of two siblings, and I am the oldest. Actually, my parents separated many years ago. Now, I live with my mom and my brother. My mom and I have our differences, but I always respect her opinions. We certainly have our ups and downs, and although we do fall out sometimes, we usually make up. I have a close-knit relationship with my brother. He is very nice. My mom and my brother are like two peas in a pod. We don't have sibling rivalry and always support each other. Currently, I don't see them often because I study abroad, but we do stay in touch on Facebook and Zalo. I miss them to bits. For me, family is the most important thing. They mean the world to me

I would like to talk about my family. I come from a relatively large family. I was the youngest child of six siblings. To be honest, we are a tightly knit family. As I remember, there wasn’t sibling rivalry between us. Even though we sometimes have ups and downs, we love each other to bites. And then we make up. My older sister and I are like chalks and cheese. In fact, we don’t have much in common. Indeed, I take after my father. I’m also a spitting image of him. I can say, my family means the world to me❤️

In russian we have such phrases:
"An apple doesn't fall far from the apple tree" (Яблоко от яблони недалеко падает) which means that children will always inherit their parents' features.
"A seventh water on kisel'". (Седьмая вода на киселе) That phrase is used to describe a very very far relative. "Kisel" is traditional russian drink made of water, berry juice and starch. "A seventh water" means that the drink is very diluted.
"Come you, my droplet of blood " (Кровинушка ты моя) is used to describe deep parental love with a tinge of welcoming and also bitterness (for example in a moment of unity after a period of separation).

I am from a small family, i have an elder sister. I think all both of us are quite different. My sister is relaxed and laid-back person and i am more in control and stressful one. We have certainly have our ups and downs and although we do fall out sometimes, we usually make up.
We are tightly knit family. I love my family to bits.
Talking about my parents, they brought up me with great values so i am grateful to them for that. My mother and my father are like chalk and cheese. My father is so calm and cool, my mum is more stressful and anxious. But i think these differences make their relationship interesting and strong. They’ve grown to love each other over time.
For sure our family’s most loved person is my nephew. He is the spitting image of me. I would say he also has my sense of homour. Because he is the only child in the family he is sometimes spoiled by us but we try not to spoon feed him.

    Model answers:
    1. What’s your family like?
I am from a medium-sized family, I was the youngest child of three siblings. I think all three of us are quite different. My brother and sister are quite extroverted, and I’m definitely the most introverted. We certainly have our ups and downs, and although we do fall out sometimes, we usually make up. Unfortunately, I don’t see a lot of them because I live abroad, but that said, we do stay in touch with WhatsApp. Talking about my parents, I take after my Dad, and actually, I am also the spitting image of him. I would say, I have my mother’s love of cooking, but unfortunately, she passed away many years ago. Of course, I’m married now and I have been married for around 20 years we have a daughter who is fifteen. To be honest, my wife and I are like chalk and cheese, but I think it’s the differences that make our relationship interesting, and certainly keep us on our toes. Between you and me, my wife likes to be in control, and I think I am mister laid-back. I am much more relaxed and easygoing, but all in all, we complement each other. As for our daughter, well she is a mix of both of us in a way, but I would say undoubtedly, she is much smarter and better looking than the pair of us.

Hi Keith, to describe about my family, there are five of us who are living like a chalk and cheese. I come from a nuclear family. I was one of three siblings. The sibling rivalry among us were not seriously took place as we had six years age difference with each other. As husband and wife, we do not always see eye to eye. At times we fall out but then we make up that does not sounds like we are tightly knit together. I love them to bits. Am mother of three, elders are twins that too one boy and one girl aged about 10 and the little one is One year old boy. I try not to spoon feed them. I take after my father although am the spitting image of my mother. My parents taught me with good values. Since we are married for last 12 years I would say that it is not all bed of roses. We have grown to love each other over time with understanding and accepting each other's weaknesses and strength.
Thanks Keith for giving this wonderful platform
    Am new to hear.
You are professional on the same time homey.

I come from a big family. That is my extended family. My parents were divorced when I was 12 years old. I was the only child. After that, I live with my mom in my grandmother's house. Storms frequently happen in that nest. Therefore, I have to deal with a rivalry environment. Next, I was mistreated by my aunts with their hypocrisy ways. My grandmother doesn't have her own words in the house because she is extremely weakened after everything. Then, I met my first love. I could imagine she would be all my life but we broke up and she abandoned me after 2 sweet years. My world was ruins after all. Sometimes, my mom and I don't see eye to eye or having ups and downs. But I still love my mom to bits. I still believe in true love and happiness. I hope I could relieve us from the misery with my talents. I have to be on top of the world. Showing everyone how valuable myself will be afterwards. It is my biggest desire. I'm an English tutor and voice talent in Vietnam. I'm still struggling with my family in some ways. But I'm proud of myself surviving day by day. Thanks to your videos and attitude which help me open my new horizon.
I'm preparing for the IELTS test soon. Some told me that my score is around 6.5-7.0 in all skills. If you give a comment and the average score for my text, it would be a pleasure. Thanks a lot. Regards.

Well of course my family means so much for me. There are 4 of us in my family and i was one child of 3 siblings. We just have mom as a single parents after our dad has passed away at 2011. As a family, we grew ups and downs so many times and i think that is a very normal situation for everyone. That phase of life made us closer one to another. And thank to God, we're still family, and grow stronger after all.

I come from a small tightly knit family.
There are 4 of us and I was one of 2 siblings.
My sister and I are like chalk and cheese .although my parents brought us up with good values and typically tried not to be overprotective there was a lot of sibling rivalry in my family when we were younger throughout playing with toys.
I bear a striking resemblance to my mother. there was a lot of conflict between my father and me but there were rewarding experiences for me.
About my husband, we have grown closer and closer over the years. I’ve known him for 10 years. we are like 2 peas in a pod however have our ups and downs and occasionally don’t see eye to eye. overall, family is everything to me and I believe that blood is thicker than water.

    What’s your family like?
    Family size:
    I come from a small/big family.
    I was an only child.
I was one of (1,2,3…number) siblings.
There was a lot of sibling rivalry(competing) in my family.
Nuclear family (parents and their children) (your family and children)
Extended family (siblings, parents, grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins)
    Siblings:
My brother and I are like two peas in a pod. (so similar)
My brother and I are like chalk and cheese.
We have our ups and downs.
We don’t always see eye to eye. (agree with each other)
Sometimes, we fall out but then we make up.
fall out ( to argue and no longer talk)
make up ( to become friends again)
We are a close family. OR
    We are a tight-knit family.
    We are a tightly-knit family.
My family is everything to me. OR
    I love them to bits.
I love my family to bits.
My family means the world to me.
    Children:
As a parent, I try not to be overprotective.
I don’t want to spoil my children.
I try not to spoon-feed them.
    Parents:
    I look like my father.
    I look like my mother.
I am the spitting image of (someone)
    I take after my father.
Take after ( to have the same personality as your parents)
My parents brought me up with good values.
To bring up a child = to educate and raise a child
I don’t see a lot of my parents.
As for my dad, I don’t see a lot of him.
    My parents have passed away.
    Partners:
It was love at first sight. (instant love)
    I fell for her instantly.
    We just clicked.
To click somebody = to get on well
We’ve grown to love each other over time. OR
We’ve grown closer and closer over the years.
Blood is thicker than water = family is more important than friends.

I have two families: mother's family and father's family. My father has other children from his new wife. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately, I don't now actually😅) you didn't speak about this type of family relations. How should I call father's wife? Mother-in-law? And how I can call my brothers from her? In Russian we can call this type of relation like "brothers/sisters by blood". What about English?

Hi there, I'm from a midimum-sized family, I was the oldest child of the three siblings. I think three of us are quite different. I sometimes do fall out but we often make up. I don't see a lot of them now because we live in different parts of the country. Having said that we still keep in tough through social media. Talk about my parents, I think I am a mix of my father and my mother in term of appearance and personality. My father is very hard working, engernetic and positve. He never says no to a challange. My mother is quite short-tempered but she is kind and attentive. She is a brilliant cook. And of course I am married. I have been for 6 years, and we have a daugter who is 4 years old. Everyone around us says she has a striking resemblance to my husband. My husband and I have ups and downs, though we have differences and we don't always see eye-to-eye but we are a tight knit family. As a parent I try not to be overprotective so that my child become more independent. But tobe honest sometimes I still spoon feed her. For me, family is everything and I love my family.

My English name is July Phuong. I come from a small family with four of us. I am two of my siblings. I am the only daughter and have a younger brother. Although we are full-grown, my parents always take care of us. I am a mix of both my dad and my mum so I don’t look like them. For example, my lips take after my mum but my hands and feet are the same as my dad's. My mum is more intelligent and my father is more handy than me. My house is near my parents’ house so I meet them frequently.
Now I am married and my little family has four people. I have a husband and a twin boys. My partner and I do not often have eyes and eyes. We got married by love however sometimes we do fall out then we make up. We’ve grown closer and closer over the years. My children's names are Tit and Mit. They are twin but they are like apples and oranges (chalk and cheese). They are four and a half years old.
To be honest, I am not a woman of family so my husband often takes care of our children. My responsibility is to cook for all members of the family and my partner has to take them to the kid garden. Day by day we understand each other and accept our differences. I think we are happy and satisfied with our life and family.

Talking about my family, I hail from a small family consisting of only 5 members. I am the youngest child of four siblings. I think I am quite different from my siblings. We are like chalk and cheese. My sisters are quite social, active and extrovert, but that said, I am a bit timid and socially awkward person. All my family members have differences, they have different takes regarding different things. Sometimes, we fall out but soon we make up and I daresay, these different perspectives make us quite riveting family. Despite all the differences, we prefer to respect each other and not discouraging anyone on any different beliefs. Unluckily, I can't see most of my siblings as I reside in hostel and two of my siblings have got married and they are busy in their marriage life. Overall, I would say, my family means the world to me and I love my family to bits.
