    Luciano Pavarotti was an italian operatic singer, very recognized and one of the most sucessful tenors of all time, especially because of his career out of Opera (but always singing arias or singing naturally as an opera singer). He also was part of the famous trio "The Three Tenors", with Plácido Domingo and José Carreras. He had a great technique and a beautiful tone,even in higher notes. His bel canto's control was very nice too, that's why he's remembered as one of the best tenors, that's difficult think about tenor and don't mention Pavarotti.
    Vocal type: Tenor
    Lowest Note: C♯3 (Notte' e Piscatore)
    Highest Note: F5 (Credeasi, Misera)
    Vocal Range: 2 octaves, 2 notes and 1 semitone
    PS.: This is his vocal range with the notes that he released, he probably was able to hit higher or lower notes, but I have no idea if he recorded them.

      hay nuri metin onal and everyone here wide range doesn't mean that you are better singer! For example there 4 singers from Bulgaria( their names are Petq Buuclieva, Sofi Marinova, Lili Ivanova and Margarita Hranova) bit it doesn't matter that they are better than Mariah Carey with her 5 octaves! Wide range is not everything! My all time favorite singers are Pavarotti and Whitney!

      His sound relies on the fact that he had more frequencies sounding than the average (if you can call world-class average) tenors. In Richard Miller's book "Training Tenor Voices" he compares Domingo, Bjorling, Pavarotti, and another that I forget. His voice had several more frequencies sounding on the same notes from the same arias as compared to the other tenors. Amazing technique by all of them, but his was special.

    He can go much lower than that. I suppose he can sing F2. He can go much higher in falsetto but in chest voice i mostly agree but considering that he held that D5 for a long time I suppose he could sing in E5 (for a short time). Anyway it doesn’t matter if it’s 2.5 , 3 or 5 octaves, il maestro could sing every note he was capable of in a divine way.

    I got the shock of my life at the falsetto notes! I don't know why but I had it in my head that they would be somehow weak and totally at his limit...... oh my good god how I was wrong.... such effortless notes, clearly he could go much higher but just never needed to... as for the belting, there are no words in the English language that doesn't involve screaming or just fainting :L

      I am a real dramatic tenor and I’ve sang G6 in falsetto as an adult male, I’ve sang, not squick or screamed. In whistle register I’ve been off the piano. It is trully no lie when they say including Pavarotti that “The tenor voice is a very special voice” cause it really is! It is basically a boys voice in a the body of a grown man which makes it bigger cause now the boy is grown but it almost has the exact same voice with grown man body possibilities.

    Pretty good low tones. He always had a good mid-range. Fantastic G thru B high notes. High Cs and Ds very, very bright and powerful as well. Great technique and control throughout his range. A surprise! A very nice and very "pretty" supported Falsetto (or light head voice, if you'd prefer) on the F5. Sounds like he could have probably gone up all the way to the C above in that supported Falsetto. :)

    the Eb5 and F5 are not "falsetto" notes but undarkened head resonance notes. He is simply singing those in unaltered "head voice" - but they are in full voice - fully connected.

    • @mbrsart
      @mbrsart 9 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      +Kevin Richards Rock the Stage NYC Tenor with a degree in music, here. The top notes are definitely falsetto. A strong, connected falsetto, but falsetto nonetheless. You might be confusing head voice and falsetto; most people do. For men, chest voice and head voice (full voice in the head) ideally have the same tonal quality, and head voice generally begins after the second passaggio. If you listen closely, you can hear him transition between falsetto and full head voice after that Eb5. If you want to hear that top F5 in head voice, listen to Lawrence Brownlee singing "Credeasi, Misera." He hits it, but briefly.

    • @TotalSinging
      @TotalSinging 9 ปีที่แล้ว +29

      +Michael Bradley-Robbins - You're tenor with a degree in music who doesn't understand the vocal fold configurations of falsetto and connected head resonance. Most people with "music degrees" confuse them because of how vocal pedagogy is taught in university; It's stuck in the 1800's.
      There is no such thing as "connected falsetto" - the fold configuration to produce a falsetto tone by it's very nature is NOT connected, The vocal fold configurations between falsetto and head voice are two different things - mainly a matter of fold compression.
      You are using the outdated terminology associated with "Falsetto" and applying it to what is known in 2015 as "head voice". "Falsetto" is a partial closure of the folds during phonation resulting in airy or breathy, unconnected sound. "Head voice" is a fully connected fold configuration where notes resonate in the upper portion of the vocal tract.
      You are confusing tonal quality with fold closure. Falsetto is not a place in the vocal range, but a tonality.
      His Eb5 and F5 are not falsetto notes, but full voice notes without an edge tonality. Still connected, still full voice, but very light fold compression resulting in a lighter, less edgy, full (round/dark) tonality. NOTHING about those notes is airy or breathy - the trademark tonality of true falsetto notes.
      "Music degree" vs. 25 years of vocal research, authorship on the subject and practical application on the stage.

    • @gerPzoidberg
      @gerPzoidberg 9 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      +Kevin Richards Rock the Stage NYC I agree in what you're saying about falsetto voice mechanics, but, since you're basing your argument in his sound quality I could still be right. It still could be a very well done falsetto with no air. His high C's, for example, are what I believe is true head voice, and sound very different from those Eb5 and F5. Again, you can hear his transition between falsetto and full head voice, as Michael Bradly-Robbins told.

    His upper register was something else - notice that if you isolate the phrase going down from the F5, it sounds VERY much like a mezzo or a contralto in that area of the voice. However, he never learned to connect the lower range to the upper range, nor would he have had to - he was not a countertenor singer.

      20419943002 Really? Because he sounds clear, supported, and distinctly not male at F5. He may lack resonance, but there are countless women who sound endlessly worse at that note.

    • @giannis_tar

      No, not classically trained of his caliber. Anyway, it's a stupid note written clearly for show off, so it doesn't really matter to me.

      @@ondrejlukas326Update: I have heard a live B2 from him in (verdi) otello and a C3 in Norma (Va crudele about 40 seconds in). Actually, he had to reach for that C3 so hard the spectrogram had it as more of a B2 lol, he pulled it up pretty quick though.
      I should upload a version with those spliced in, I already did it for a project

    if u keep low c like that , in piano you can down around half octave. ( i guess you can give minimum fa or fa #) so pavarotti's octave 2 and half octave . maybe little bit less than 3 octave but,im sure it bigger than 2.3 octave...

      I should imagine there are many tenors that can sing higher than that in chest. Whilst not an opera singer, Robert Plant hit many higher notes than that in chest. Think his highest is C#6.
