a priori, ethics has potential, clearly as seen here. I wonder why it is then that the only thing that has failed me and made my life truly empty was devotion to ethics. The more I fit a mold, the less life I truly lived. disconnected. It is the one thing you can’t quite “get right” in philosophy - there’s so many factors to an ethical decision it is almost impossible to say you have given due diligence to any ethical decision. And that is only the trepidation of personal ethics - oh people ethics? When people force ethics on you and others… it is the only sin of mankind.

“no war” “do not fk ___” these are their rally cries. Ethics. If I wish for no war, I should be careful for what I wish for. Because what is required? Surveillance and fear 1984, or Brave new world with pleasure, lots of sxx, and no deep human experience. Do we want everyone popping soma (brave new world)? Everyone happy all the time artificially? Pop the pill to reduce the pain you feel at the expense of mental acuity? Dull your mind? Soma societies go extinct. How about the “do not fck ___” rule? what are the first principles and limitations? There’s so much more to say. Think about it. Not even ethics is ethical.

5:15 lifelong frat party wouldn’t be what comes to my mind, more like gaurenteed housing/food/stipend to all citizens of a particularly “good” society

I agree! That sounds much better and more true to utilitarianism! Thank you!
