Hi, welcome to my apartment! In today's video, I do a minimalist apartment tour and show you all around our simple, minimal and cozy home. We've lived here for two months now, and we're very happy with how the space is turning out. Of course, there's lots of work still to be done. So I'll keep you updated as we give some spaces a little make-over.

My favorite room is the kitchen, because of all those built-in storage things in the cabinets. Do Dutch apartments normally come with those? It seems like you scored an unusually good apartment.

I grew up in a huge 3 story house with stuff and clutter in every room, 3 cars 2 motorcycles and a golf car + a huge garden with a lake and a small pond.
Now I live in a 2 bedroom apartment, dont own a lot of stuff and live pretty simply, and I love it :)
I love the colours and the intentional placement of items.

Vera, I'd love to see you talk more about our digital lives. A tip for phone, social media, digital file hygiene. I remember you talking about dedicating a tray/specific spot to your phone, and a decluttering tutorial for digital files. Would you be interested in doing more of that? I know I'd love to see more!

Your home is very warm and inviting. I love what you have done with less stuff and yet it still feels complete. I am trying to resist the urge to BUY the things you have in your home that I don't have in my home and instead think "What do I already HAVE that could serve the same purpose. (Like the ladder holding the throws) My first instinct is "Oh I need to get one of those..." Which defeats the entire purpose of this video right? Same thing with the ads and sponsorships. I have to resist the urge to purchase because you are encouraging us to live with what we already HAVE😊 Not buy this thing to fix your problems
I love your style, Vera! As a minimalist who doesn’t want to live without color, I tend to decorate with soft blues and greens, and I love the way you’ve used some blush in your space as well. It softens the look which is really pretty. I’m looking forward to seeing your continued styling. Congratulations!

Our homes share so much in common Vera, from the soft colour palette of blues, greens and light woods to the round dining room table and chairs.
I used to have a trendy bedframe which was difficult to assemble, very low and not particularly comfortable.
Would not swap my divan bed which is super comfortable, easy to transport/assemble and has 4 large drawers underneath for storing bedlinen, towels, nightwear etc.
Bathroom colour not my preference either but if it is brand new would be a shame ( and very expensive) to replace.
I think by simply adding white towels the space would look much fresher.
A fresh green or blue paint above toilet will look lovely but id probably add a picture rather than shelves. Shelves may be difficult to clean and clutter builds so easily.
Even our choice of bedlinen is very similar- i have one good quality cotton set which goes back on bed after washing and never needs ironing.
YES please to a wardrobe tour!
PS im with you 100% on removing shoes and when i move next year im hopeful for a hallway which will have room for shoe storage and hooks for coats etc !

Lovely new home. Don't worry, you're not the only no-bath person. I've never used mine, either - in more than 20 years! I just prefer showers, or going to a swimming pool ;)
Thank you for being so gracious in showing us your home. To answer your question, Vera: All your rooms are lovely. I was especially drawn to the kitchen, bathroom and toilet because they have been renovated. Having a separate toilet is such a neat feature. I also like the fact that your kitchen cabinets don’t have any knobs, pulls, handles or visible hardware. The minimal aesthetic with clean lines and design of your furniture is something that I look for when I shop for furniture.

@@SimpleHappyZen I was mentioning those rooms not because the other ones aren’t pretty, but simply because the cost of renovating kitchen and bathrooms can be quite costly. It’s so nice that you don’t have to worry about it because they have been very well done. No odd color that will go out of style in a few years.

I love that you don't have electronics in your bedroom! I am currently staying with my parents and they have a large tv mounted on the wall of the room I'm in. Plus I have to work in my room and I have a lot of "stuff" that I use and there's no where to put it that is convenient. When I'm able to get my own place, I will definitely keep the electronics & miscellany out of my sleep space.
Love the whole apartment, especially love the office and kitchen. The whole apartment has a very calming and peaceful vibe and that is lovely. Thanks for sharing with us.

Hi Vera, your apartment is very beautiful. At the moment, my favorite space is the living room as it's obvious you put the most love into it and I really love the colors you choose although they are not my favorite colors, they are so lovely and fit with you own coloring so well.

I didn't realize it as I was doing it, but later on someone else mentioned it and I was like: oh, that's what I've done! haha. It's funny to think about which colors we're naturally drawn towards.
@@SimpleHappyZen so true! I'm an autumn probably and those are the colors I'm drawn too the most in my clothing. in interiors I like it a bit more light and monochromatic, but still with touches of earthier colors and textures ☺️

I really love your color palette, and the way you gave the impression of a very serene neutral interior while actually including a lot of different soft colors. It’s so bright, nice flow, and looks so spacious for the sq footage! You did a great job at keeping it simple, but warm and inviting. I’m totally in love with… the balcony! 😁 To me that feature is as important as the inside space, as I love to eat outside. What a lovely apartment 😊 I like the layout of it and also the fact it has a balcony. We had a lovely flat when we first got married, that overlooked a sweet garden, but we could only access it by leaving our flat and going all around the back of the building, so to have an out door space is brilliant IMO.

Beautiful home! I love the simplicity, so serene. My own home has many more things. I love to decorate and use color, but like you i keep my bedroom very simple, with minimal decor and white bedding to make that space serene. Its amazing how our spaces affect us! ❤ thanks for sharing your lovely home!

Congratulations on your new home. I guess my favorite space would be the living/dining room. I have done something similar in my home office with hairpin leg lower furniture, floating shelves, a wall mounted trailing plant, a canvas art print and a wooden magnetic chalk board.
Your office is honestly my favorite space, but I also love your bedroom! Perhaps I should just admit that I love your entire apartment because every space within it just feels homey with the way you decorated it. Thanks for sharing this video, Vera! 😊

Thank you, Vera. Your home is lovely, bright and gives the illusion of space. My husband and I recently renovated our apartment with new flooring and I'm trying to keep clutter and ornamentation to a minimum. This change has felt very liberating, as if a huge weight has been lifted from our shoulders. I love your style of simplicity and realize I still have a long way to go to achieve similar goals. But I will keep watching and remain patient with the process. Thanks, again, Vera.😊

Vera, I particularly love how the flow of the hallway goes into the living room, that makes it feel really cozy and bigger, also placing the couch away from the wall does make it feel much larger and visually pleasing, putting things higher on the wall also is a great idea to make the place look larger and more interesting, you’ve done a great job with all the pops of color, the coral is my favorite, loved the apartment tour, can’t wait to see what you do with the balcony 🪴
Thanks Joan!! Yes, I love that too, about the hallway opening up into the living room. Actually this place used to have a very different layout, but the previous owners made it much more open. So the hallway used to be separated and there was a door opening up into the living room. So I'm very happy they did all that work opening it up haha, because it's so much nicer now.

It’s all beautiful! My apartment is close to the same size, but it only has 1 bedroom. Yours is a more practical use of space. I LOVE that the toilet is separate, you don’t have to worry about “spraying” when you flush! The balcony will be a fun project. I’m glad you found this place ✌🏼🌱
Thank you so much!! Yes, our old apartment was a little bit bigger, but close to the same size, and it also only had 1 bedroom. I have to say, I really like having a bunch of smaller rooms as opposed to two large rooms (living and bedroom). Somehow it makes everything much easier to decorate and organize. And yes, I agree about the spraying hahaha. Thinking of having a toilet in the bathroom always has kind of weirded me out in a way, because the bathroom is supposed to be where you get clean. :) So I also really like having them separate. But if you clean and disinfect it regularly, I'm sure it's no problem. :)
@@SimpleHappyZen It does seem easier to organize things with multiple rooms. Probably seems less cluttered since stuff is spread out too! I clean my bathroom each week, but now I want a separate room for the toilet haha!

thank you so much!!! :) Yes, it the change in neighborhoods makes a world of difference. It's not exactly quiet here, it's still the city, but it's definitely more peaceful and a lot safer. It's also much cleaner, no more trash on the street everywhere. We're very grateful to have found this place :)

I loved the living room. Especially the dining table and chairs and the Oak furniture. It’s very peaceful and welcoming. My mind was racing with ideas for your bedroom and office area and balcony!
I know you’ll make each of these space’s beautiful in time and that’s the fun of buying a home of your own. You can live in it for a while and enjoy gradually improving each area. I chuckled when I saw your office bookcase and “The Tao of Pooh’. After your wonderful vlog talking about that book, I ordered it straight away and have loved diving into its delightful wisdom!

Oh I love that countertop and that little baby blue looking trash can. And such a great size place. Not too big. Not too small. Hard to pick a fave room. The living room is lovely tho and I love that tub (I’m a tub person lol).

If you want a larger desk, you can try replacing the tabletop itself with a larger one or screwing the larger tabletop to the existing one.
It was very fascinating to see your home as a whole. We always just see it as a backdrop 😅 This is my first time looking at a Duch home 😊
I too find your home serene. I love your choices of furniture and appreciate your explanations of why you've made selected certain items. I miss seeing any image art on your walls (I have a few selected items in most rooms. It's also another way to bring in color and positive energy. I guess I'm not a minimalist but you do inspire me to pare down a bit more!! Thank you.
Thank you so much!! :) I might include a bit more art on the walls in the future. For now, we had literally like 100 different holes to fill in all of the walls of the apartment, that the previous owners left behind. So I wasn't that keen on adding more holes hahaha
