All you need is a 5 subject notebook, maybe (just maybe) 1 binder, a planner, laptop, and writing utensils. There is not a lot of room to store extra school supplies in a dorm:)

I personally don't like 5 subjects notebooks so I buy like 15 differents notebooks
@@ketac3989 lol, I used to do that but now I just do 1 5 subject (because I only have 4 classes) and I have a doutang folder for each class :)

I’m going into my junior year, and after a semester or two you learn what works for you. Most people at my school just carry a laptop, 3-5 subject notebook and a folder to class. Don’t forget the INDEX CARDS. Most professors put notes or student versions of PowerPoints online, so most students take minimal notes. Almost all of the assignments are online as well. Professors don’t really care what you use to take notes or exams. TBH some students will just show up for class and not take any notes at all. It’s a BIG change in expectations, responsibility, and course load from high school. It’s a whole lot more stressful, but SO much more laid back. Wish you the best of luck.

i'm going into college as a freshmen this fall as well, and though i didn't go shopping for whatever supplies i may need. i am just like you, i go for all the cute stuff. who cares if we are going into college, having cute supplies makes any type of schooling fun. I'm the type of person who was no motive to do any school work unless my supplies are cute and fun. i will cherish my inner child for life

As a rising college junior my advice is that less is more :) In college you don't have class every day so you're not going to have teachers giving you a million handouts that you need to collect in a binder, in fact most things you need will be shared online (a lot of schools have Blackboard and platforms like that where you turn in responses online) so I wouldn't recommend using a separate binder for every class especially if you also have a notebook for each one! And I guarantee you won't even get CLOSE to filling up an entire single subject notebook since you only go to class two or three times a week for three months, unlike high school where your class lasts an entire year. But, you'll figure out what works for you! :)

My brother used only 1 notebook per year in university, most of the notes were printed online 😂

One tip to anyone else, instead of getting 5 notebooks, get a five subject five star notebook and an accordion folder. That works for me because then you don’t have to go to your dorm and switch.

Sophie Kaleta yes yes yes!! I go online from home, I've commuted too, and that's how I do it. I HATE carrying a binder for each class, plus separate notebooks, plus textbooks, laptop, etc...

Good luck on your freshman year and congrats on starting college! My freshman year was so amazing and I hope yours turns out to be just as rewarding. Also, I do buy several school supplies for college, so don't feel bad! And idk about where you're going, but my professors are usually really chill about ink colors.
I feel like school supply shopping is always so fun and sometimes the best part of going back! I've graduated but I shared some tips to help out freshmen on a recent video too but having a squishy pencil case is so useful to just stuff in your bag and get out the door so good call :)

I mean it honestly depends on your major. Like I’ll definitely need one for my random math class next semester but I mostly take writing and history classes for my major and I take notes and write on my laptop.

I am going to be first year nursing student and I get exited for all the supplies as well, even though I problably just end up using one notebook and one blue pencil for every single subject and I keep all the handouts between the one notebook.

I’m a senior at Tarleton State University in Texas and all of that is necessary! I use one big binder and put all my classes in there using dividers!
Going in to my final year of university and I still buy way more stationery than I know I need, its a given, plus it is always nice to be able to give a classmate something they've forgotten :)
I’m a junior in college and I agree with a lot of the other college students below. This year I’m taking my iPad (with keyboard and Apple pen), some folders, one notebook and then writing utensils

Backpack pencil pouch 5 subject Spiral notebook, writing utensils, calc, textbooks, flashcards post its and a folder. That’s all you need school supplies wise.
Bring your wallet, Id, earbuds, gum, stapler, and recorder.
I'm going into my Sophmore year of college fairly soon, I wish you tons of luck in your first year! I love getting school supplies too 😅 lol, though I pretty much used the same two pens the whole time and only used mechanical pencils for scantron and math tests and only one of my notebooks really got used. So I won't be getting as much things this year since I don't yet know what will be a waste yet. Guess we'll see!

I love School supply shopping and the organizing and getting ready for School but in a week back I want summer
Tip from a college senior you do not need or want binders. You more than likely are packing around your laptop and textbooks and binders 1 aren't gonna fit in your bag 2 add more unwanted weight. All you really need is a five subject notebook or one of those compact fabric five star binders if you need more paper than a five subject notebook, and maybe a folder or accordion folder. Good luck!

I got so much supplies and I’m not even going on campus it’s online but I am also a study freak so I have notebooks left and right, index cards, pens, highlighters, mechanical and regular pencils, 1 binder, like 3 or 4 folders and dividers. As well as a stapler, post it’s, post it flags. I’m still not done. I have to get a new lap top cause mine is crapping out. 😩

I’m going to be a second year in college and all you need is 5-6 notes books a folder for homework, a laptop, writing utensils ( i started using pencil for everything but I ended up using pen for everything) pencil case and a folder for paper Incase you forget your notebook. Plus obviously a bagpack. Notecards and post-it notes are very useful. That’s really about it. Also word of advice, get most of your books as e-books unless it’s laboratory workbook also if your professor is a hard ass and wouldn’t let you have electronics in class.

I take 7 classes this semester in college and for me it works a 5 subject notebook and a binder. I also buy highlighter and pens and some pencils.
i kinda miss school supply shopping, but i literally only carry around a folder and maybe a notebook that i barely use since a lot of my professors just have printable fill in notes

I just ordered all my school supplies through the school's bookstore and I am so excited. I think I have made about 8 different lists of what I need. I understand haha
I love school supplies! Even though I don't buy the half I want because I know I won't use it in college. But if you want to be organize you will use your supplies. I write my notes then type them up. (helps me memorize) Plus, some professor won't let you use your laptop in class. ( Mine didn't). That paper will come in handy!
tbh my fav part of my new supplies are those highlighters with the clear end thingy. i also got new school uniforms which is kinda exciting i guess (?) also im a highschool sophomore

I'm yet to be asked for a #2 pencil I fill all my scantrons with my mechanical pencils xD I carry a mini stapler in my pencil bag! they do the job! and i bough a mini hole puncher as well, both from the same brand as your stapler! :p

if you dont already have a mini stapler, i recommend getting one! i cant tell you how many times my professors announced they wanted the work stapled WHEN WE'RE TURNING THEM IN (and sometimes the professors wont even have a stapler to lend you so you gotta look out for yourself lol)
Hi I wanted to pass on a tip (you may already know) but if you get textbooks I’d really recommend renting on chegg usually the books are alot cheaper on there, I’d also recommend amazon OR asking your school if they offer vouchers. Textbooks can be so pricey! Also good luck in San Diego it’s beautiful there!
