i’m a sophomore in college and i proudly pull out a pencil case that looks like a milk carton and it’s full of colorful pens
what type of coloured pens do you use? looking forward to buying some but i dont know which one to get :D
College is like high school but with more freedom. So don’t worry you’ll be fine! Also you’ll probably end up hating that planner because it look big and heavy. Lugging your back pack around with your note books,books and laptop will be heavy enough. You’re better off using a digital planner on your lap top. One that will give notifications so you don’t forget assignments. Good Luck on your first year of college. Study lots, and party more 🙈 I graduated this year and I’m so not ready for the real world so just enjoy it all! It’s a learning and personal growth process. You’ll love it 😍

Totally relatable! Everything is just so heavy when u r walking in a huge campus... So i just used one 1 subject notebook for 5 subjects for the whole semester 😂

A good tip for college is getting a five star notebook with 5 subjects in it for all subjects it saves sooo much space also like 2 folders to keep extra papers in
You should grab some more school supplies for next semester. I recommended that mainly because in January (that’s when my semester changes over) school supplies aren’t on sale. I usually try to stock up now

I’m a junior in college and I pretty much use the same things haha
I’ve tried a few different ways of handling things throughout the semesters but I’ve pretty much landed on the individual notebook and folder for each class.
I love my pencil case. Mainly because I bring a ton of pens with me because I’m extra and color code my notes lol
Don’t worry, with how exhausting college is, having some fun supplies will help you get through lol

I had the target brand of that planner two years ago for my freshmen year of college, and it was a life saver. It was completely sturdy and didn’t have any problems with it at all. Plus I got the smaller A-5 size so it was easy for me to carry it with me everywhere. Also, almost everyone I know in college still carries a pencil case with them, so don’t worry about that!
I would recommend getting one five star five subject notebook so you can take notes for all your classes in it! It’s cheaper and everything is quick and easy to find! I don’t use folders in college because all of our assignments are digital and we never get paper work! I use a pencil pouch in college too! So I know exactly where all my highlighters, pens, etc are! I start my junior year of college on Aug 27th... here’s a tip somebody can use. So when I first started college I got all new notebooks by my 2nd week I had barely used them lol so to label them I put tape on the cover and wrote the subject blah blah on the tape so I could reuse it for a different class

The planner is cute, I watched a bunch of videos about planners when I was about to start college around this time as well. I got a STEAM planner from Amazon for like $10-15 that’s organized by hour with a blank section for each day and I’ve loved it. I think the hours split up like that is really helpful.

I am going into my sophomore year of college and found it insanely convenient to have just one big 5 subject notebook with folders inside of it (five star makes one with plastic folders); this way I never had to go back to my dorm just to grab a notebook for studying, etc. I just kept the most recent readings and papers in the notebook folders and then had a filing folder in my dorm for older ones! hope this helps, good luck with your freshman year :)
I'm in college too and also use a pencil bag! I love school supplies, stationary stuff, and all that good stuff. I thought I was the only one that still bought ruled paper too. :-)

Not sure why I’m watching this in the midst of my senior year of high school but I NEED that planner😍
If you have an iPad Pro you can go buy an Apple Pencil and get GoodNotes or Notability and stop buying notebooks. You can just use your iPad instead. Its what I do and its a lifesaver.

I feel like I'm watching myself! When you said the three stores you typically hit + loving back to school shopping and being ocd I was thinking me too. I bought allllll the same notebooks with the matching folders last week for my freshman year of college too! Really wish you could see my pen and highlighter collection... A little excessive. But necessary.

you’ll probably end up cutting down on your number of notebooks soon, it’s what happened to me lol after my first semester i got tired of carrying a heavy backpack so i divided a one subject notebook into a 5 subject notebook and that became my one notebook for all my classes and it’s what i do now LMAO many of my classmates literally take a small memo notebook to class

I'm a junior in college and I'm still using the same notebooks from freshman year lmao. You'll be surprised how little paper you'll use in some of your classes - everything is digital now and most lecture notes are uploaded online. That being said, I'll still go through certain binders/notebooks like crazy - especially for STEM classes.

Oh BTW, college supplies are different based on the classes you have and the kind of person you are. I use: A Chromebook, 4 composition notebooks (one for each class) and 4 pocket folders, a package of black pens, colored pens (reused from last year,) a mini stapler, paperclips, and very rarely do I use highlighters. I do use a pencil case. A planner is a huge essential
lol im going to be a sophomore in college and i bought a huge pack of flair pens too and keep them in a pencil pouch sooo no shame! and also i just use a 5 subject notebook for all my classes but that does mean less pages per class than having one notebook for each but it ended up working out for me and i didnt need more pages or anything. good luck!!

I carry two pencil cases, one with my fav things to use for art, and another for everyday pencils and colored pens for organizing notes

Color coding your subject notebooks are actually a good tip, now I know HAHAHA especially since I'm a disorganized student when it comes to notes 😂

haha me too! this is gonna be my first year and college and i always go all out! i love shopping for school supplies but this year i just went to target and i was very confused lol i dint know how much i needed or what i needed, i just hoped for the best lol.
Ah! It depends where you are and what classes you're taking, really... Years ago, my freshman year, people didn't, but I was also taking lots of humanities to settle in without pressure of GenEd.. Then after that, a ton of people, including myself, I have two, use pencil pouches :) because you need one for pens and highlighters! Duh :) try Erin Condren, I liked it more than my Daily Designer, though the quality is top knotch.

Going into my senior year of college.... I got a five subject notebook and some folders and some pens. Funny how you get less and less with each year that passes by. I used to spend over $100 back in the day. Good luck!
For me, I hate hauling around heavy notebooks/textbooks around campus, especially if you’re a commuter and have classes all day. My advice is to go digital, it’s so much easier/convenient because you’d have everything w you at all times. No need to bring unnecessary bulky binders and flimsy folders around. Not to mention this will make it so much better for your back in the long run. But if physically writing stuff down is your thing, then you do you :) you just gotta figure out which method will help you the most in college.
Also, get notecards with the little holes in them to hold them with a ring. They’re a MUST to study! They definitely help you out A LOT

Get a file folder. It's easier if you back to back classes or dont have time to go back to grab stuff
School supplies are the only thing that excite me for college, and I'm a third year biochemical analysis student Lol
PS: you'll not be able to use the colored pens propably during lectures since it will be time consuming but they will be good for color coding when you go to your dorm and feel like rewriting and organizing your notes and it will help understand them better
and I think it'll be better if you bought one of those divided notebooks( mine is one notebook divided to 5 sections one for each class) it is much lighter for your back

I love going back to school shopping it’s so fun lol I would of recommend getting a 5 subject notebook because it would of saved money and be less of a hassle cause everything is together but I like your color method I hope it works out for you :)

Don’t recommend a 5 subject notebook in college bc you don’t have every class every day so you’re carrying the extra weight of notes you’re not gunna use that day for nothing. Your system of a notebook/folder for each class is much better! Everyone has their own preferences though, all about trial and error! 💖
having one big notebook for all of my classes saved my life. first semester I had a notebook for each class and I just about slipped a disc trying to carry all of that around my mountainous campus every day 😩 I also would accidentally grab the wrong notebook or forget one completely so having just one that could be left in my backpack fixed that problem!!

When starting your first year of college you basically need what you had in the 12 grade and you might need a few extra things like a laptop or a ipad and they might be a few thinks the teacher might wont you to get.

If you don’t want an expensive planner, you should try amazon. I get my planners from there every year and it’s absolutely amazing. I suggest getting a “Bloom” planner. They have very pretty and organized planners that have so many beautiful design and have very different types of planners depending on what u use it for. and the prices range from $10-$30.

You should buy more light highlighters (pink, orange, and yellow especially). I use those colours all the time when I'm reading for my classes, and I usually go through 3 or 4 of each of those colours each semester.
Also, you might have trouble with that planner. It's really bulky and you won't like carrying it around, especially if you have other textbooks with you. I would suggest getting the planners that they sell for high school students. They function basically the same way and there's always enough room to write for each day. But they are much smaller and lighter.
let me tell you ... a mini stapler is a must have in college. you have no idea how many times people have asked me to borrow mine when something has to be mandatorily stapled hahah

Karen Jandres I like to do it before because I don’t get book deferrals so I buy anything with my own money...So I start buying them early because I wont have the money all at once, and I just keep the receipts just in case I don’t need the books that the website told me I needed. Good Luck!!! 😊

Hey! I just found your channel and I had to pause the video to let you know that target does sell those planners. I have one but it wasn’t that crazy expensive. If I remember right, mine was $14.99 and it has the same format inside from what I was able to see really fast. Oh and I start college again August 20th 😊

The folder and notebook system worked the best for me. Five Star is what I've been using since high school and I'm in grad school, totally worth it because they last. If you don't have one already get a portable external hard drive, trust me, you'll need it in college. I saved all my papers, presentations and I am using them to refer back to now for my masters. Even if you can't re-use a paper, you can always reuse the sources.

For planners check out TJ Maxx or Marshall’s as well as Erin Condren.
