    Kirstie is mostly of Mexican descent, and she has written several of Pentatonix songs (that I know of)..."Be My Eyes"; "You Know How to Love Me, When I Don't"; "Water" and "Naked" (although it's a solo performance) !!! What's amazing to me is that, although she is fantastic, but mostly underrated...her GROWTH AND CONFIDENCE from their beginning to now is vastly better than EACH of the other members !! Today she is truly a SUPERSTAR. Oh, BTW she was the lead singer one season on the Broadway show "Kinky Boots". I'm sure you can tell that I absolutely LOVE her !!

    Kirstin's mother is of Italian and Spanish descent, her father is Mexican. Through her father she identifies as Latina.

      All three have "Latin" roots, so Latina would be perfectly fitting in any case. 🙂

    Both of the Kirstin written songs on The Lucky Ones seem to have similar themes - being able to ask for help when your mental state isn't as good as it could be - or just getting the help without having (or being able) to ask for it. I think it's something we all hope for - having friends/family who know us well enough that they can see when we're having problems, and give us the help/push we need.
    On a much lighter note - since you mentioned Sing, Come Along is another light, happy, and catchy video that I think everyone should watch when they're having a "down" day! Not an original, but it's a fun song anyway.

    Great reaction as always! Kirstin does such a great job on this. Mitch really has great harmony with her. Totally love all of them!

    This is one of their songs/originals from the "Home" album made during the Covid lockdowns. All the parts were recorded and filmed separately in their individual homes and then spliced together. Thats why they look photo shopped when they're all singing together in this song.

      Actually, this song is from Pentatonix album of original songs titled "The Lucky Ones" which was released February 2021.

    in the song Imagine by Pentatonix she holds up a sign Latino - so I think that is her heritage - the 3 friends Scott, Mitch and Kirstin were all trained as classical singers

    Kirstin, Mitch and Scott all went to high school together in Arlington, Texas. They were in choir and formed a group called the Trio. They added Avi and Kevin and then competed on The Sing Off, winning season 3.

    Hi Carmen. I'm always looking forward to Your reactions. Taking a break from work on a boring monday afternoon. 😁
    An other very good and also emotional original song is "Light in the Hallway" (no music-video but a very nice lyric-video). It's five-part-harmony with Avi singing the lead. It was written by Scott as a lullaby for the young son of his sister.

    • @Badger77722
      @Badger77722 ปีที่แล้ว

      Light in the Hallway is amazing and so touching! Scott has said that when he was writing the song, the only voice he ever heard in his head singing it was Avi. There aresome fan-cam videos of them performing it as their closer in concerts, this is my favorite: th-cam.com/video/CN6-YZ4xVTc/w-d-xo.html

    This is probably already on your list, but I recommend "Run To You." It was written by Avi and Kevin. It has no lead singer and no solos, not even any percussion; it's just the five of them sitting together and singing in glorious five part harmony. I think it has the most beautiful harmonies Pentatonix has ever recorded, which is saying a LOT.

    Lovely reaction! I find it kinda funny that while most bands have female backing vocals for those higher Oooohs and Aaahs, PTX has Mitch....and his voice suits those soaring notes so well.

    Originals that I like…Coffee in Bed, SING and Cracked. I believe this video was during the pandemic, that’s why there are no shots of them together (except the superimposed shots). Oh and Can’t Sleep Love and Prayers for This World are two more great originals (sorry there are just too many good ones). I think Kirstie wrote this one ☺️

    They have 2 original albums. A self titled Pentatonix and the Lucky ones. Both are amazing in their own right. Also both have deluxe versions with additional songs. Also they sprinkle in original songs in other albums including original Xmas songs.

    Hi Carmen,
    You got emotional but this time you couldn’t stop smiling. Kirstie wrote this about her husband, and other people in her life who keep her grounded. Mostly her husband. Kirstie said in an interview, that she spends too much time obsessing and worrying about everything, especially in her work life. She’s a perfectionist, when it comes to herself, even with all her accomplishments and accolades. Another fantastic Kirstie lead is, My Favorite Things. I warn you, your jaw will hit the floor. I don’t see a reaction to their cover of Problem by Ariana, not a Kirstie special, but great. Also, the Pentatonix studio album is exclusively originals. They only made a few of those into videos but there are lyric videos available on their channel.

      Kirstie isn’t married yet…..but is engaged. Other songs that feature Kirstie are Say Something, My Favorite Things, Wizard of Ahhhs, Can You Feel The Love Tonight, to name a few.

      @Bonofox1 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@CarmenReactsKirstie is not married!.... She got engaged earlier this year to Ben Hausdorff who is the father of their baby Elliana.
      Ben is the official photographer and videographer for the group for the past 6 years I think. But he just announced that he is retiring this role to pursue other film industry endeavors. But he will still show up now and then to the shows with his and Kirsties "Bun" Elliana.

    I think that the filter you're talking about on Mitch's harmonies is actually just the way it was mixed; they simply decreased the volume on some parts of Mitch's accompaniment. Since we don't actually see the five of them sitting together in this video, it was probably a studio recording with each of them laying down their tracks separately. Then for the video they would probably have filmed them separately as well, each one lip-synching to the track he or she had already recorded. Once all the audio tracks had been recorded they would have sent them to Ed Boyer for mixing; he's the person who would have adjusted the volume on all their voices so it came out the way Pentatonix wanted.
    It isn't surprising that Kirstin took the lead on this song, since she wrote it.

    I'm not sure what you've watched already, so here are suggestions. Some of their other originals I love are Light in the Hallway, Standing By, Misbehavin, On My Way Home, Run to You, New Year's Day, Na Na Na, and Love Me When I Don't. Some covers I like are Lean On, Cheerleader, Say Something, Take On Me, Papaoutai, and Can't Help Falling in Love.

    if you don't mind that these are audo only try 'anchor', 'petals', and 'easy love'. one with a video is 'happy now' which is well, happy. for an outstanding performance that won't make you cry but is intense is scott with mario jose singing 'lost of you'. its amazing; they're both giving it their all.

    Great reaction Carmen! Kirstie's background is Latina. Her mum is of Spanish and Italian descent and her dad is Mexican. She is beautiful, isn't she. Speaking as someone who is of mixed heritage (German mum, Indian dad) I think people with mixed backgrounds are the best looking! I would say that though! Tee hee. You are very pretty too. I think this one was recorded during Covid lockdown so they all did their bits for the video seperately. Their originals are so good and massively under-rated. My favourites are Love again, Sing, the new one Rise, Cracked, Can't sleep love and Water.

    FYI: It doesn't take away from their beautiful performance or the original lyrics, but this one technically isn't completely original! The "music" is from a song called Orinoco Flow (aka Sail Away) by Enya. I think Kirstin was inspired by the ethereal sounds & the rhythm of it, & it really does fit her lyrics too.

    Hello Carmen. Love your smile and enthusiasm. I have followed your PTX journey from the beginning, and I love Mondays. 😋So, I understand that you have thousands of recommendations, but if you want something extra unique, and because I'm from Australia, you should try Kasey Chambers. She is an Aussie country / bluegrass singer, and Kasey performs a cover of Eminem's Lose Yourself which is astonishing. She leaves everything on stage, and her emotions and pain are laid bare. If you know the words, and love purity of voice and if you want to enjoy a masterpiece of alternate genre, that is NOT rap, then you need to watch this amazing performance. It is going viral. Love your work, cheers from OZ.

    Great reaction. A few originals that I don’t think you’ve done: Love me when I don’t (there is a recorded live during Covid video), Side (no video, Mitch wrote and takes lead), Lucky Ones (a recorded live during Covid Jimmy Kimmel video). I hope you do a Messer (Mitch’s solo project) video. Angels Pray and the newest Agony are my favorites.

    Know you love PTX - as do I. And see you also discovered Superfruit (some time try their version of “Rise” - and the story behind)… might also look more into Kevin (I would start with: th-cam.com/video/IGjg193h4Ok/w-d-xo.htmlsi=bVf_GUW1JIlIdMB-).
    If want more female artist with emotion and meaning what they sing (besides Faouzia (which I also love)); Lara Fabian (any song go, perhaps start with “Je suits malade”?), AURORA (the ‘reason’ Billie Elish got the nerve to become an artist) and perhaps Angelina Jordan (child prodigy- now at 17)
