@@devilkazumi578They say they are dropping their phones down to 2k instead of 4k, since 4k is technically useless at that size and will make the phone more affordable. Buy we will have to see just how much cheaper it will be.
(Other things Sony needs to do)
1: Bring back the LED notification light. The 1VI probably won't have it but the 2025 successor should return that feature, the same came be said about 3D Face ID & faster charging.
2; They NEED to bring back a modernized Sony Gallery Album, I hate using google photos & 3rd party gallery apps aren't as synchronized with the UI.
3: They should have a trade-in offer program. If I'm give the option to trade in my S24 Ultra for a 1VI, I might just do it.
4: They should do carrier deals & let customers Choose what pre-order bundles they'd want.

For me it's the brightness , sony phones have had abysmal brightness compared to everyone else , i think it might have had something to do with the screen being 4k although i'm not sure , but this phone has to be on par with the competition in terms of brightness for me to consider getting it as much as i love sony phones .
5. Bring back the dedicated hardware assistant button like the 1 III.
I hate the power button shortcut on my 1v which limits my options for tasker shortcuts.

I've always liked the Sony phones it just sucks with a lack of US support and I know they're not the greatest with the updates but they really make nice hardware

I am really looking forward to this phone, I'm hoping they still keep the Micro SD card slot as there are rumors of a 1TB model which would be great along side the Micro SD card slot. The bigger screen is definitely awesome for me hopefully it would be better when using display out as I use my phone like a portable emulation console so hoping for those features as well. Great video keep it up!

Very interested on this, with all the manual controls, optical zoom and variable aperture (main lens, at least). Hoping it will have a larger sensor than predecessor and merged apps. Also you're so right about the short OS support, which sucks.

My first Android phone was a Sony Xperia X10 and this phone is my favourite slate style non-folding phone
I am happy with 12 months of support, because I don't keep a phone more than 6-8 months ... I am very excited to see this phone, it is a launch pickup for me. That form factor is excellent. I am currently playing with a Nubia Z60 Ultra and the Vivo x100 pro, having just sold an Xperia 1V I am amped for the Sony train to pick me up again.

Interesting video. I am curious but not ready to update, after only 1 year.
I'd like to see something in the 24-80mm range; where there is currently a gap. This is a very popular zoom in real lenses for portraits and weddings etc. Macro would be nice but on the V the high end zoom focal length is not that good, so I hope that improves.
Did they move the launch date up by two days? I’m excited for this and the Vivo x100 Ultra. The icing on the cake for the VI would be the earlier rumored triple 48mp sensor set up and not the latter 48, 12, 12 set up. If this is the last of this series of phones they don’t need to hold back.

I am so excited for this launch, if they promise a long software support, the phone gonna be lit. I am not gonna miss the aspect ratio, typing on the old aspect ratio was a mess even though it was great for scrolling.

I'll be upgrading to the 1VI from the original 1iii... still going strong after two and a half years of use so I'm expecting a substantial improvement. I'm all about the Audio and the 3.5mm headphone jack which I've found pretty impressive via Tidal Music and numerous wired in ear monitors ranging from £70 - £1500.
This thing is legit for portable music. I literally don't even use the Camera unless it's for eBay Pics 🤭

The V is still good. I would skip this year if I were you. I have the IV and would skip this year as well, but mine broke so I'll be going with the VI haha

I don't think it's continuous zooming anymore for the 6. A rumor I saw said it'd be 48MP cameras all around, where it'll crop to 2x and save a lossless 12MP photo, similar to what iPhones do with the main camera. That's why it's 85-170. But it remains to be seen.
Few reason why I buy Sony phone: Natural vivid comfort display, Dynamic super clear bass speaker sound, Unique design, Photo shutter button, Changable Hi-Res music album art, Nice design accessories, these reasons was compared to Samsung which can't did well as Sony
Very good review, thank you, keep it up. Unfortunately, Sony, which only thinks about marketing, not customer service, was unable to quickly release the Xperia 1 V in France. The majority of known websites lied about availability, except Amazon France which was very honest. In France, we hope that this year we will be able to very quickly have a large number of Sony Xperia 1 VI on Amazon France.

I use the Verizon network I wanted to get the Xperia 1 V last year but I really want to be able to see it in person before purchasing. Now I am very interested in the upcoming release of Xperia 1 vi. I can't get a straight answer as to whether or not it will work with Verizon? Any idea if it will?

Hardwarewise I would buy Sony phones in heart beat (SD, Headphone Jack, wireless charging, modern chip, good camera spec wise) but update support is not good when midrangers beat you, also multiple camera apps is fine for pro's but have a simple camera app for the normal user.
I really hope they change the screen aspect ratio to make it shorter. The current design feels like tv remote and the bezels and the letterboxing is ridiculous when watching youtube. I'm looking forward to the new design

I have the 1V and overall I'm pretty happy with it. I will swap for the 1VI when the 16mm and 85mm get better sensors.
Streaming FLAC and Hi Res audio with my I V with sony music to my car and the Quality is Superb with this phone! Got the phone since launch. No Regrets!
Sony doesn't sell these in India. I will have to experience it through you😊. just bought Samsung Galaxy A35, it's not as bad as some people complain about it.
Hope they expand the internal memory to 512 and keep the micro sd expansion. Also, if they have to kill the aspect ratio, I hope they make the phone thinner on the sides.
I owe 10 mark 3. Now for a 2,5 years. still good phone. The battery is not so durable anymore but all other functions without any problems. Sony makes quality phones!
I wish sony implemented there android walkman line into the android phones since sony still sells android hi res audio players that runs android. However, the sony xperia walkman lines have 2 versions, 1 version with the volume capped and the second version that has unvolume capped. The uncapped version of the sony xperia walkman has high gain for high impedance headphones and in ear monitors for driving hard to drive headphones and in ear monitors. Maybe sony new flagship phone could still have the same 21:9 aspect ratio with it's 4k 120 hz oled with 4,000 nits and 4k 120 hz mini led with 4,000 nits like the bravia 9 sony 4k mini led tv peak brightness, 512gb and 1tb storage options, micro sd card slot, dual physical sim card slots with no e-sim, all the 5g bands support, 6500 mah battery capacity like the red magic 9 pro gaming phone magic, headphone jack, 16gb ram, headphone jack. I already have burn in issues with my sony xperia 1 iv since the brightness has gotten dimmer as well and thats why I wish there was a mini led display version with a substantial brightness increase for better outdoor visibility. Sony also acquired audeze the audiophile company. I also wish sony implemented the audeze engineering into there newer android phones and xperia walkman android hi res audio players.

Well, I have a Xperia xz2 6gb ram version. Still rocking hard! The only thing I did : I replace the battery {yes, me! So easy to change it!}. So why change it? The phone is perfect after me. Let's sit and wait. Maybe the Xperia 5 mark vi will be my next one!

Can't wait to see the release next week. As a long time Xperia user until now, I just wanna beg Sony to pleaseeee, extend the damn software support. Having only 2 major updates plus a one year security patches with prices above the S24 Ultra and iPhone pro max (even worse for the pro line back then) is just god awful to put it mildly. To me, that combo is a major red flag for many potential buyers apart from the manual-centric camera, and overkill display. Sony used to be great with software support in the first years since parting away with Ericsson. Like one of the first to get major updates after Nexus devices, and their AOSP program for select devices. Even a Playstore edition for the Z ultra, which is a vanilla version of the z ultra and updates like a Nexus device. Here's hope Sony will be able to fix that major flaw, since how you attract more people to buy your 'above market price/niche segmented devices' that way? People liked the Mk. V lineup. Yet many people in the comments section of many youtube review vids keeps pointing the same issue.

Im torn, im excited, im sad, i have had several xperias at this point, not sure if im going to like the new aspect ratio, i pretty much got used to it, after years of wishing it was a little wider now i feel like its going to be too big. A 20:9 probably would of been a better move.
ZTE has 1/3 update policy and motorola has 1/3 on budget devices, so it's not the worst, it's near worst. But yeah, it's bad it has update policy of a 80 euro phone(Redmi A3)
If they downgrade to 2k I'll just get the V, it doesn't even have 40W charge and it's a high end device.

The problem with Sony phones is that new features are never backported to older models. The mark IV series didn’t get vertical photo pro with the Android 14, update, yet they got vertical video pro. The 10 VI is rumoured to be getting creative looks, and the 1 IV/ 5 IV didn’t get any of them. Samsung, on the other hand, is bringing Galaxy AI to their s22 series. Google gives feature drops. Who would be paying that much for a phone that offers 2 years of OS update, with no added features? Sony really needs to work on their software support.
Naah imma still go for the 1v , cuz of the 21:9 and 4k. Truly a unique phone experience

I have been a big fan of Sony phones, but since 2018 they have had lots of heating and software issues. So I decided to move to Oneplus and nothing phone.
Yes yes yes. Since xperia 1 mark 2 I have been listening to the same crap. Great photo quality. Great sensor. Great videos. Great night mode. Great everything !!! Maybe hardware is great , but software !!!!

saying that, really enjoyed the software and hardware experience when I had one in 2019. Was nicely thought out and a lovely user experience. As much as I love my S23 ultra, it's just too damn heavy. The heaviest phone I've ever had. My wrists start to hurt after a while.

My favorite phone also or was. I'm jumping ship, I can't believe Sony is removing the 4 K screen and getting rid of the narrow resolution. So much for my favorite phone! Another Samsung with a fancier camera. See ya Sony, it's been fun.
When you look at the leaked speaks, they only decreased the height and increased the width a tiny bit, so 21:9 content should still look good on the screen and fill up the space.
Hi! My galaxy s24 ultra is sitting in a desk drawer, it's just not possible to use it, the camera is mostly bad and the color gamuts of the camera are mostly wrong. ultra also does some different, nasty tricks, and that's a shame. The galaxy s24 ultra is constantly hot and the battery doesn't last as long as it used to, I don't know why they still haven't fixed it and the cameras too, the phone is somehow getting worse and worse I'm really sorry I switched to Xperia 1 V against galaxy s24 ultra because it is not consistently good and not reliable. I'm really looking forward to the Sony Xperia 1 VI, the launch of the new Xperia is coming soon, it's May 15 and then I'll trade my s24 ultra back to Xperia again. The current main phone is still the reliable, consistently working iPhone with the best camera and screen.

Been with xperia for 3 Generations now and could never recommend it because of minor bugs and performance... I myself kept coming back for that 4k, 3.5mm and microSD. Now that they are rumored to get rid of the 4k screen i will pause on xperia and my wallet will thank me for it i am sure😂
I cannot wait for the mark 6 to come out. I'm guessing O2 will announce pre registration for the UK right after the launch announcement. Sony definitely needs a computational AI mode to leverage the hardware's ability for the masses and we need to see some of this sensor tech start trickling down to the midrange handsets too. I'd really like Sony to make a real competitor to iPhone and Samsung. They need computational photography nailed followed by a great marketing campaign. Sony should hire Jonny Ive to design a budget phone for the brand that keeps the unique selling features intact (headphone jack, sd card slot and shutter button). I would also like to see Sony release an ultra version of this phone, like an updated Pro-i with one inch sensors and the same DAC as their entry level Walkman so we could have a true audiophile phone....oh and please give us a foldable, Sony. Just take the Mark V and put it into a folding chassis on a par with the One Plus Open then give us the "ultra" version of that which gives us the same spec and cameras as the 1 VI. If Sony use their advanced sensors as a carrot they could do a deal with One Plus to allow only them to have these advanced low light sensors for 6 months for the Chinese market while Sony focus on the rest of the world and then allow both companies to compete head on worldwide and in exchange One Plus could help Sony hit the ground running with a Sony branded foldable. Oh yeah, and Sony needs their version of DEX so they can re-enter the desktop computer market via the back door using these new insanely great Snapdragon gen 3 SOCs. I'm not asking for much, am I?
