This hurts my soul! Such a gorgeous bird! If there were one single build that I wanted to succeed... this is the one! Unbelievable detail in every step of the process... even when plan B kicked in. Rev 2 will be much better!

All the engineering, crafting, planning, attention to detail… it’s amazing to watch you work- you sir, are a true artisan!! Thank you for putting it all out there Chris- Heartbreaking to watch it crash, but I’m THRILLED to hear you say you’ll build another!!! 🎊 😁🎉🍻

Have to say, as a static guy, I really was impressed with your finishing. Which is what gets me when I hear a pilot say the words "I don't have it."😥(I said those words before, but it was just an ARF.)

    Chris,
That was an amazing project and build and I applaud how much modeling skills that took to create. It was an incredible looking and flying jet.
You also remind us of how these projects can unfortunately end sometimes but I have to say you showed an incredible amount of dignity and class at the worst of times. Something we can all aspire to. We’re with you brother.
    Stay well and keep flying.

Brother, My heart was broken for you. Guttered.
That was one absolutely gorgeous model of a very beautiful aircraft. Your work is on another level!!!
Amazing attention to detail, and weirdly enough, a lot of the painstaking care you took especially with the gear doors I can empathise. Personally I would have been...Far too afraid to fly it.
I built a HET F-4 Phantom II back in 2004-2006. It didn't have any gear at all. It's custom machined air retracts were in a very shallow wing so I had to shape the gear doors much like you did. Had bulges in the strut doors for clearance. Inner doors which were shaped aswell, were servo operated as was the nose gear door. The entire build took two years. Under the model when stowed the gear and doors were nearly perfectly flush and countless cycles on them before flight they worked wonderfully...Air retracts tend to slam a bit lol.
The doors were on a sequencer back then. The detail I added to the thing (no weathering) was my finest work ever on a balsa/ply model.
It flew once...poorly. When I mean poorly, it needed up elevator the whole time. C of G was good and all.
Wasn't a full flying stab. The elevators were too small.
It was very fast though. Twin HET 6904's with 2W20 motors running at the time the best Lipos I could buy.
The incidence between the wing and horizontal stab were way out.
I got it home barely and has sit ever since as an ornament. One day I'll get servoless retracts and rebuild the tail but these days... The Freewing F-4 is just better.....easier.
    Now I just fly foamies.
I do hope you rebuild the B-58. It's an epic aircraft and you did it perfect justice. Jaw dropping model.
BTW I love your centre burners!!! Mine is still going strong 5 years later!!
    Cheers from Australia!

Holy crap! I had no IDEA you did that much paint work on that beauty. So gorgeous. The airbrushed insignia work and those friggin panels... wow. I can't imagine how gut wrenching it must've been when she went down.
That drag chute rig was super cool, man. Great video. Thanks for sharing this journey with us. I actually feel a lot better about my "re-maidens" after I've done some rudimentary rattle can job on one of my foamies- and how jittery i get because of the "work" i put in. 😊

Oh my, I’m sorry for your loss. But if you are anything like me you love the building of an aircraft just as much or more than flying them. I’m blown away that you don’t have a inline voltage meter and didn’t oversize the ESCs by 10-20%. Love ❤️ your content

    • @Thercgeek
      @Thercgeek  ปีที่แล้ว +1

I normally go for extra headroom on the esc’s, but allowed my concern for the airframe weight to dictate a slightly smaller esc here that I thought still had headroom, just not as much as I normally go for…which as it turned out was a mistake… 😕

Amazing flight with the exception of the ending. You took it alot better than what I would have. I would have been on my knees going “Noooooo” and then crying! Ohhh the crying.
