Your import and distribution business, as it exists in a largely capitalist economic environment will exert pressures on you, causing you to react and develop. How you cope and change with those pressures will determine how well you succeed. It’s helpful to start out by looking at the environment you currently occupy and how those pressures become primary motivators to how you run your business.
In this session, Bill will make you the MDB (Master of Distribution Business) and cover important touch points of your business and how to tackle one problem at a time

    **About SommelierChoiceAwards**
The goal of the new Sommeliers Choice Awards is simple: to provide on-premise buyers and sommeliers a valuable benchmark for understanding which wines would make a compelling addition to a wine list.
The judging panel of the Sommeliers Choice Awards will consist entirely of top sommeliers, on-premise wine buyers and wine directors at U.S. restaurants, bars, pubs, and clubs. In order to be selected as a judge, sommeliers need to provide evidence of their expertise within the on-premise industry. In some cases, these sommeliers may also be wine consultants for on-premise establishments. They may also have a buying role in addition to working on the restaurant floor.

Tell you about wine and beverage industry today. When I was a kid we had a beverage shop at home PLUS wholesale beverage and dairy products distribution in the city PlUS party deliveries in weekend and at night. . Is beverage distribution viable today? No. The market is way too complex and the requirements on all fields are way too high too make big bucks. Profit margins on big brands are LOw but you will need them and they expect from you to grow turnover. You'll need costly storage and trucks or vans which eat dollars if they do not leave the company with an overload. Staff is expensive, licenses and insurances too. Stock costs a big dollar. Risk on theft and perimated goods and accidents in manipulating are high. Your own investment in labour will make you turn 7 on 7 and 20 on 24. It is too complicated and the margins are too low. A very good advice. The only way I see you can earn a living by working when others wont is to produce something yourself. Cookies, waffles, sweets. When that starts selling open a dining and serve your cookies with a good marging to customers. Be sweet with your customers, whatever issue there is. Some of them are real jerks. Don't invest in ads of all kind. Mouth to mouth is the way to do it. Bonne Chance.
