I love seeing a review from a TH-cam personality I respect, for a product I have used for almost 10 years. If you are doing more videos I would like to see your take on how you deal with unknown numbers. I have had to set up side by side systems and update both if there is a change and hope I keep both of them the same.
I've been using VoIP MS for a very long time for personal and small business use. Their support has always been responsive and I hadn't had any issues until my account was recently hacked and funds drained. I kept a relatively low prepaid balance, so it wasn't a huge deal. While their support was again responsive, they weren't able to provide any information to help in finding out how the account was compromised. I was responsible for the hack even though it seems to have occurred on their side. I generally use random 20 character passwords and 2 factor authentication for the dashboard. I also utilized location based security to prevent calling from other countries, I found out that this feature does not apply to SIP authentication, but only to logins to the dashboard. The moral of the story is that you must be sure to use point of presence security and, if not using from a roaming phone, limit calls to your fixed IP or the subnet of your local internet connection.
Sweet, I started using them five months ago - in June 2020 - and have had zero issues! Except 2 weeks ago when their Chicago sip server was down and I changed over to another server in my PBX and everything was back up in minutes
Thank you for confirming my upcoming selection of VOIP.MS. The two other providers I've been tracking don't have anywhere near the professional website and especially the wiki that VOIP.MS does.
I've been using voip.ms for years for both SIP trunk with asterisk/freepbx and now directly with sip phones. Very economical and haven't had many issues at all. My only complaint which may just be a settings issue on my side. The line doesn't drop when the other party hangs up. One time I hung up using the speakerphone button (I was on a headset) so it didn't actually hang up but it was completely quiet so I didn't know. It ended up staying on the phone for 20 hours and used up all my prepaid amount.
I have used voip.ms for years my self with 3cx, Never had this problem also I have many of my clients on voip.ms as well. both direct and with the PBX system. This problem has to be a setting. Just put in a ticket with voip.ms and they are very helpful. Anytime a had a problem they have been very helpful and prompt in helping resolving the issue
turbo2ltr Dude the SAME thing happened to me like 2 weeks ago.....I’m pretty sure I hung up the phone though.....I have call recording activated and played the call back and at the end of my conversation with my friend....I heard her hang up and then I did.... After that it was just dead air for 60 minutes!! I haven’t sent in a support ticket....I probably should...just keep getting sidetracked lol For the most part I’ve never really had any issues with them. I’ve had service with them since 2013 I believe...can’t believe it’s been that long already 😬 I mostly use them with Yealink phones...my rep at Teledynamics talked me into buying a Yeastar MyPBX U100. This one part in the beginning is throwing me off, when they say to change the IP address....of your PC to the ip of the Yeastar.....then change a couple other things....if I could just get past that initial part I think I would be good to go. The interface is laid out pretty nice... Maybe I’ll give it another shot....they have a TH-cam channel with step by step setup instructions, except for that ip part the lady speeds through it and I can barely understand her lol I’m gunna check Voip.ms wiki page....they may have a configuration guide for it. Hey man have you checked out the app that someone made for VOIP.ms? I downloaded it on my Android....it’s pretty cool....you can actually do a lot of stuff from the app! I’ll let you know if I have another call that doesn’t disconnect again, or if I find out what caused it.... Feel free to update me if you find out as well...if u don’t mind. 😀😀 Take it easy😀
@@shreev9671 thats a signaling issue, run tcpdump from your pbx and capture the call not dropping, send it to them, could be an underlying carrier issue.
Very timely and interesting video. We're currently looking at switching to a VOIP system and finding it hard to narrow in on the proper solution for us. If you could do a video on the basics of a VOIP system and explain the basics of integrating a service like this in to an office, I know we, and I'm sure others, would be very grateful. We are having a hard time deciding on a self-hosted solution like FreePBX, purchasing PBX hardware, or using a hosted service. Thanks Tom.
I discovered and converted my last company I worked at to VoIP.MS. Can't say enough great things about them overall. I used them as SIP trunks for my PBXs. Probably eventually would have just converted to them managing the entire stack, but I quit working there before getting that far.
Thanks this really help me decide on a provider they have everything a small Biz could use I really dislike the App they use to configure for softphones. Is there an alternative worth whatever they charge
Fyi that issue was a routing issue with Verizon, at&t, and T-Mobile. We had that issue also. "One" of those companies put out a bad route in the phone pstn switch broad, we don't know which one tho.
As a long-time user of VoIP.ms (years) I'm actually now looking to leave them. I've had an IVR with business hours set up along with 1 queue while hunt group searches for available CS agent (there's only three of us). In order for the agent to be considered a part of the hunt group agent, they must log into the queue - simple enough. Over the last 2 months though nearly daily at the end of the day when we go to log off queue we discover we have been logged out and all calls have gone to voicemail. So we began checking hourly and now it's hourly logged off. All VoIP.ms will tell us is to basically create entire new parameters and start over. I guess we are starting over by moving to another service. Great company until something goes wrong or maybe we are just too small of a company to worry about.

How does phone porting work in the US? Technically? In the Netherlands, vereniging COIN facilitates the whole process and every provider gets a 'broadcast' when a porting is performed. So all operators instantly know that a number has been ported and to route calls to the new provider. What does the system look like in the US?
essentially you have an account number and pin from the port-out provider. the port-in provider uses that to contact the port-out and transfer the number over. its usually automated, and can be running anywhere from 5 minutes, to 3 days, but usually in an hour or less its up and running.
VOIPMS does not take the stated time as have to do this The system has set your account on mode "Manual Validation Required". Please contact our staff by Live Chat or Email to have your account activated.
too bad those guys don't take payments from all countries, for example Russia, neither they have any alternatives such as paypal.. they proposed me wire transfer with swift which is like 100usd for service only here in russia... too bad... They don't even have any free test credits for voice quality testing and their trunks... And I've used Tom's referral link from info above...
Why use voip.ms when you can use Plivio for almost half the cost...? Sure it doesn't have e911 but that's when you just use Twilio or some other sip provider that is just outright cheaper than voip.ms
Their service is lame. I opened up an account with them, they immediately locked my account requiring me to send a copy of an ID document to them to have my new account unlocked. This is pathetic, since their TOS doesn't specify that there is the possibility of this to happen. Long story short, I've cancelled my account and I'll stick with my current VOIP provider. My rating 1/5
A word of warning: if you're in the US, you can't (legally) use their reseller program without signing up with the FCC and paying telecom taxes. We found it prohibitively expensive to set up and stuck with the referral codes.
I built my own asterisk server for my company. The first version was on a Supermicro in our office server room tied to XO by T1 which ran for 5 years. The second version waeds on a Dell 2950 in a data center tied to XO by a cat5 crosstie. I eventually moved everything to voip.ms no problem.

My employer uses TDS, I've used this service during many TDS outages. Love the fact that I can change the outbound caller ID to whatever I want.

I too had that issue just earlier this year. It was a routing issue with Freedom Mobile here in Canada.

We had the same issue with cell phone calls not being able to get through for an hour or so a while back. And that was on ring central.
Same here on Telnyx, T-Mobile was able to call but not Verizon
It's such a hard issue to troubleshoot because you have to call from so many different carriers to determine the source of the problem.

We've used their SIP trunk service in the past on our enterprise VoIP systems and they've been reliable. Those phones though... Garbage.
