There was more but I figured I should edit a lot of stuff out since the video was damn near an hour and I feel like the masses would have turned against me lol
They definitely help, but id never count leg press as hinge/deadlift tonnage nor carry over, and how's it higher than RDLs and SLDLs (actual deadlifts)??
Mitchel hooper is one of the most educated and qualified Strong Men lmao he's probably one of the best to educate come on brother. He is WSM and has a masters in clinical exercise physiology plus a degree in human kinetics.
God: how much adhd do u want? Eric: yes RDLs are perfect for hamstring-glute-lower-back muscle+strength building. aids my deadlift from the floor so damn much, def. more than squatting. But dunno about good mornings. Even 18" deadlifts do more for me than good mornings, heck even shrugs lol. But trying to replace 18" DLs with banded DLs now.
Honestly, amongst the biggest deadlifting strongman competitors, leg press really appears to be one of the favorite accessory exercises. Eddie Hall, Brian Shaw, Graham Hicks, Hafthor, Mitchell- they all lean heavily into the leg press as their primary leg power developing accessory when peaking for a big deadlift.
To be fair, all the deadlift freaks in Strongman don't do many variants of the deadlift. Mitch, Graham Hicks, and Thor are all surprisingly simple in their approach. Thor might do deficits, Hicks might do deficits, leg presses, or maybe concentric pauses, and Mitch pretty much only does normal deadlift and back-downs. I think Brian Shaw is the one to employ a fair bit of variance when he was competing, like bands, chains, and deficits.
Whens the stick going to start enlightening us with his vast knowledge of horselike movements through his own tierlists and stop edging us with reactions to cookie cutters sub-par opinions?
I like Sam Shethar's approach of not just going for things that look like a deadlift as S-tier, and things that look less like it in a lower tier. Instead he also takes into account what exercise slot they take. For example, a back extension is S-tier because you can do it at a later point in the workout
i think I'm starting to see a pattern in the advice Eric is giving us ... load the exercise with as much freaking weight you can possibly add, throw in some bands, maybe a chain, horsecock the weight any way you can from point A to B, if possible do it every day, recover with a gallon of instant coffee in-between
Eric you should give snatch grip deadlifts a try. I see better carryover compared to deficit deadlifts. It will destroy your upper back if you go heavy. It’s the same as a deficit deadlift, just you don’t have to stand on a block. Huge carryover to conventional deadlifts.
One thing about many of these great strongmen or bodybuilders is the fact just how clearly limited they are in their knowledge. They can't even differentiate between exercises, spew absolute weird takes. Just shows how much work ethic, genetics and mindset can get you.
Mr Rick, I’ve seen you’re pullovers to press but what about some straight up pullovers, I think you are on to something with that decline EZ bar variation
I have to agree with mr 🐴🐔 here, specifically on RDLs and 3🍌tempo excentric (sub ✏️ tempo). No other variations will teach you how to HINGE better than those, plus theyll give you the thickest hams ever. BTW KB swings are AT LEAST A tier too!
RICK DE LA STIIIICK Here's an idea, how about a channel membership for the fans who actually want to see a 2 hour footage of rambling and tidbits? You could post the edited, clean videos for da public and the RAW unedited footage for the true rats on channel membership

Any plans for a long sleeve?
Eric not being able to get through one video without doing side quests on his guitar is peak adhd

Doing your own tier list ranking of exercises for all the major muscle groups would be easy content for weeks, and valuable to the fans. Do it!

It’s still the same TV, but Rick has just gotten massive - now the TV looks tiny compared to him
😂
Sticky Ricky has become so large it seems the room is shrinking around him
Right? He's in a high school.gym.
That's a 55-inch plasma on the wall brother
What's most impressive about Hooper is he's probably the only strongman who ever ran a marathon.
That’s actually bonkers
Look up Andrew Clayton.
@@davidsagona417 That's incredible. Both were above average runners too. I should change my original comment to probably only World's Strongest Man*
@@rajmathew6220 Andrew Clayton actually won Worlds Strongest Man 105kg ... which does not make him the strongest man in absolute terms, but still.
Eddie hall was a really good swimmer first and Brian played college basketball. Not marathons but very cardio intensive sports.

@chancearden4741 I don't have a trap bar
