By the way, today is the 10 year anniversary of Floor's first performance when she replaced Annette Olsen in the middle of the Nightwish world tour. Nightwish posted a lovely video commemorating her 10 years with the band. Floor and Nightwish are absolutely killing their current world tour. The entire concert video from Hellfest 2022 has already had more than 2.4 million views in 3 months. And the video of their nighttime concert at the Deichbrand 2022 festival is even better. Sleeping Sun was launched on 11th of August 1999, the same day with the solar eclipse which occurred in part of Europe and Asia that year. Now if you take the exact verses which contain "222" you have: 222 days of light will be desired by the night. coincidence or not, there are exactly 222 days starting 1st of January till August 10th inclusive. - valid for non-leap years. That's just gorgeous.. Floor only goes "operatic" 2x in the chorus at "[to] last for a lifetime". That's all. The rest is 24 karat vocal colouring. She sings "wish" instead of "weesh", so there's little chance here for misheard lyrics ;)

Such a beautiful song and Floor is really nailing it. A Taraja era song and as you can imagine, sense it was written for her voice, that she is equally and maybe even more impressive. Her dark operatic voice is a perfect match for the instrumentation and the lyrics. You should definitely checkout her version, either live from the End of and Era concert (th-cam.com/video/E_RRMRXJWxI/w-d-xo.html) or my favorite, the music video from the 2005 recording (th-cam.com/video/_yMCSDbwaCo/w-d-xo.html). The video is stunning with Tarja walking a medieval battlefield like a valkyrie and the band members playing soldiers wounded or dying. She wears the same outfit as she would wear in the the End of an Era concert.
This is one of the songs where I actually prefer Tarja's performance (fantastic though this is). Unfortunately Anette's version doesn't leave much of an impression - it's not the sort of song that's suited to her voice, so I think it's a bit unfair to judge her on this, she wasn't hired to cover Tarja-era songs. Live versions of Imaginaerum songs are fairer, I think (Scaretale official live and Slow Love Slow live at Montreux are my go-tos).
This is magical! Tarjas version is mystical! But I HATE Annette’s version sorry, vocally she’s all over the place. Then again, I don’t like Annette doing ANY of Tarjas songs at ALL. Tarja was Operatic in her songs but to hear them with Annette’s squealy vocals just don’t work, but FLOOR brought all those older songs to LIFE!!!! Wait till you do “Stargazers” from Tampere!!! Floor said at this point (2015) that the song hadn’t been performed in 10 years (2005 when Tarja was gone) bcuz Anette couldn’t sing it.
@@enterthecronic If you do another concert, check out the live concert called "From Wishes to Eternity". It's not as polished and they were much younger and hungrier. Mostly different bandmembers and dynamic too.

I love Floor. Yet this is a Tarja song for me. One of the first songs that brought into Nightwish orbit.

As much as I love Floor- this is still Tarja's song.
It still gets airplay in Finland and even here in Germany on some radio stations
