I'm listening to Nightwish since the late 90's, since Tarja. They always had a special place in my heart but with Floor this feeling intensified. It feels for me like she has been the missing link. She's so perfect for the band and the music. She's special and we're so lucky to have her!
Floor the last piece on the puzzle called Nightwish.
I give Tarja all honor for being the one to bring out this genre in Finland and Annette to as great female vocalist to be keep their world conquering journey among metal heads...

I see it similar. Floor for me is the very best due to a lot of reasons (emotions, smiling, open arms, power, vocals, clothes, stage presence, open arms, meet my heart immediately), Floor and NW is perfection on the very highest level IMO.
You're so right about Floor and Nightwish. It's a match made in Heaven. We're all so lucky that circumstances brought together this perfect marriage. And watching them at Hellfest, they are absolutely at the top of their game right now.

Floor is a Highly Sensitive Person (HSP) and it comes across as being a positive effect for her ability to put so much emotion in her songs that we all feel it. 😄🤘
A beautiful reaction to a song that is so lovely. Floor is amazing but with Nightwish she is amplified through the wonderful music that surrounds her. Tuomas is a genius and composes with such brilliance. All of the Nightwish musicians blend so well together and the songs have such variety that it takes a special person to be their front person. Floor has such vocal range that she can do any type of music but her stage presence and command of the crowd is what brings that extra level of joy to the audience and to the band.

Floor had just recovered from burnout when she got the call from Nightwish, the rest is history. She had 48 hours to join Nightwish, to fly to the US and to learn the setlist. Had they called her a couple of months earlier, she might have said NO. Her parents were at the Tampere 2015 concert, they share their thoughts in this video.

95% is Tuomas. Floor is his best interpreter in general. Almost anything she sings becomes hers.
Floor has incredibly long arms so that embrace of the suddenness is visually greatly enhanced by yhst. The other thing about Floor is that she becomes whoever she needs to be for the song.
By the way, Dominika's pronunciation of Tarja IS the correct one. The J is pronounced as a Y.
Another thing Dominika said that struck me: her relationship with Nightwish has become personal. Yes, that's what happens with this band.

I understood what you were trying to say, about how it’s more than her voice. Floor is an empath, and Tuomas’ lyrics area very introspective. She is able to feel the emotions he puts into the lyrics, and she feels them as she sings the song…and she is able to express those emotions out to the listener, which is why you feel the songs as well as hear them. Not many singers can do that. And yes, the only thing wrong with this song is that it’s too short.

When Nightwish fell into my lap or should I say into my ears. I had a reaction like how you conveyed in this reaction. You’re not alone with your both feelings. I’m a 50 yr old man that sheds a tear here and there listening to Floor and the band around her very often. Somehow this beautiful talented singer absolutely can find a way to touch my heart. No band on this planet has taken me down like that. Her stage presence her inviting personality opens up to you to show you her soul each and every performance and or song. Yes she has to be one of the most down to earth person that gives the feelings of knowing her for some unbelievable reason. I also dunno how to explain it too. Plain and simple, Floor is AMAZING! If You want to try Nightwish's second vocalist, Anette Olzon, good one is "Meadows of heaven".
One of the early Songs, it is about the solar eclips "two hundred and twenty two days of light will be desired by the night". Because that's the amount of time that went by before the eclipse (11th of August was the 223rd day of the year). At that time their german record Label asked to write a song about it. One of the terms was " not longer than 3 minutes", Knowing Tuomas, he made it 4+
Definitely check out the original music video for this song with Tarja on vocals.No need to make it a video just enjoy the moment because this is one of the few songs that I personally like Tarja more than Floor.

I agree the song is so short , I could have listened to that song for another 5 minutes at least! What it is, is that while you are watching/listening to Nightwish, time seems to slow down. I have heard so many 'reactors' say that a certain song is over too soon...and yet some songs are 10 minutes plus!

I have completely the same feelings about Floor in Nightwish. I like her solo stuff, but when she’s in Nightwish it’s something special and magical, it’s impossible to explain but it’s just that. Like she’s destined for this music. Tuomas is my hero for sure, I adore all his music, I recommend to check out Auri and his solo project also about Scrooge
In my own Nightwish journey, it was this song that convinced me of the power of Tuomas' compositions since I've heard Sleeping Sun performed by all three singers. Every time it gets to the phrase 'To last for a lifetime' in the chorus my chest swells up like I'm about to cry. I believe it's the melody that does it, but I'll say it's more pronounced with Floor. There's an empathy in her interpretations of this and many other older songs that is just magical. Thanks for another wonderful reaction!

Floor is home at Nightwish. And she is a great Storyteller. She really tells a story with every song.....weaving in her magic into these great pieces of music.....perfect combination.
That is the power of Nightwish. - Tuomas writes a masterpiece, deep from the bottom of his heart. - Everyone in the band dedicates him, or herself completely to it and breathes real life into it. - Floor comes, rips your heart out, shatters it to pieces and you are thankful for it, because it all is so beautiful. Floor gets me almost every time, with almost anything she sings. With Nightwish, this intensifies greatly, because Tuomas is a true genius and they all play, as if they are one, to make it perfect.
Ohhh..and one thing - keep talking....thats why we are here....although we really like the songs....we kind of know them already ...it is interesting to hear what other people feel while hearing them.....it gives us the little chance to live again through that wonderful first time when we heard them for the first time.....

This song was written to celebrate the European eclipse of the sun in August 1999. Beautiful insight Dominika! When Floor opens her arms, she gives you a big hug and invites us all in to be a part of the show. This was a Tarja era song. However, Floor loves this song and requested that this song be included in the Nightwish set. Floor has an amazing talent for making every song perfect for her to sing. Both of you are really beginning to understand how emotionally powerful and beautiful Tuomas' compositions are combined with Floor's amazing vocals and stage presence.
Yes, over too soon. What a sad and disappointed face Dominika? One of the shorter Nightwish songs. It works well as a little break in the energy of a live show.

Tuomas very rarely makes songs on request. "Sleeping Sun" is one, another would be "Kiss, While Your Lips Are Still Red" and the third would be "Lohtu".
"Sleeping Sun" has already been introduced on behalf of others here. I would like to mention that it hit a very early moment in the band's career. Only 2 albums done and they were only young twenties. And then already Tuomas received an order from Germany. The record company trusted him strongly and he did make a good song. It's still one of the best ballads I've heard.
"Kiss, While Your Lips Are Still Red" was made into a movie.
The song "Lohtu" was made in 2017. Its purpose was to raise money for a new children's hospital.
If you want to make a video of it, I will attach a link with English texts as well. Tuomas composed and wrote the song, except for the rap part at the end. The song features a large number of Finnish pop and rock musicians, even a dancer sings (Jorma Uotinen) and the famous Finnish violinist Pekka Kuusisto is also included.

There are a lot of bands that have tried the same concept as Nightwish but haven't succeeded. They may have had some really talented musicians and singers. But they are missing that "golden finger", Tuomas Holopainen. Sometimes it feels like Tuomas and King Midas have something in common - the golden touch, everything they touch turns to gold.

I think for me soothing is the wurd that comes close to what I feel., she soohts and comforts me with her voice , while on the other side she amazes me when she growls or sings heavier 😅
But in this song and like in Shoemaker or Procession she calms me down .

the only thing i would like to say is, that Toumas/Nightwish has always, from the very beginning until today, no matter which front woman sang, to translate the deep emotions from the soul into music and to press them mercilessly into your ears so that the whole body reacts with goosebumps etc

Dominika, you pronounced Tarja's name well. I have once discussed the pronunciation of Finnish names with a Serbian girl making a video reaction. I said that the English Y roughly corresponds to the Finnish letter J. And she replied that it is the same in the Serbian language! Since both the Serbian language and the Polish language belong to the Slavic language family, could it be that the Polish language would have the same thing? If so, then all Finns with the letter J in their name will make it easier for you. Names like Jukka, Tarja, Jarkko, etc
You are correct, Polish and Serbian are the same in that regard. R's are also similar to Finnish pronunciation in both languages.

I guess Dominika is watching Floor's storytime video's, They are very nice and give a good look at how she is in real life, just a nice beautiful soul and very down to earth woman. Floor also has a video of her telling that she is High Sensitive, and explains that how she sings has a lot to do with that and give you the feeling you have when you hear her sing
Very well said. They came out when most of us were in lockdown and they remain one of the high points of that period for me. She created cover songs and filmed her Storytime videos and held 'fan Friday' sessions most weeks. I feel she made a positive contribution to what was a harrowing time for a lot of people. Such a kind hearted, decent person.

Love Floors take on this song. And Marko's floating bass runs are magnificent. Tuomas was asked by the PM of Finland to write a song depicting the 1999 total eclipse in Finland and to make it 3 minutes long. Tuomas winked and said Sure.....the song, 4+ minutes. Tarja's vocal on this is just as wonderful. You should check that out too.
To my knowledge Tuomas was asked to write the song by a German record company.
I watch reaction videos because I like to see people enjoying themselves and I like Nightwish music so naturally I enjoy reactions to Nightwish songs. I like your reactions very much. You don't talk too much, you don't pause too much. What you say is right on point from my perspective also. You two are very likeable and authentic. I'll spare you more recommendations for Nightwish songs since you will probably get to them anyways, liking them as you do. Plus many other people will recommend more Nightwish songs. When you do some other bands I do like Rammstein - usually reactors will start with Du Hast live in Paris and go on from there, and Band Maid. Usually reactors start with Domination live and then go on from there. Think about those two bands in the future. To wrap up, I just wanted to leave a note because I like your reactions to Nightwish so much. Other reactors have talked about Floor's voice being almost magical and something comes over you when she sings - I can't explain it either - it feels almost spiritual in a way. Lovely reaction! I’m really enjoying your Nightwish journey. I know you were not as impressed by her performance on Beste Zangers of “Que se Siente”, but I would encourage you to watch her other performances on that show - ALL of them because they are quite amazing. “Que se Siente” was way outside her comfort zone and yet she did an incredible performance. I would definitely suggest “Mama”, “Shallow” and “Phantom of the Opera” from that show.
Oh, and please go back to Aurora, you only scratched the surface with her!!

This is one of a few songs where I prefer Tarja's version over Floor. Her intonation makes her version unique. Tarja's version is what introduced me to Nightwish over 11 years ago so it holds a special place in my heart. I really hope the two of you check out Tarja's version. There are two different music videos Nightwish made of this song with Tarja. I also really like her version at the End of An Era Concert, which was Tarja's last concert with the band.

If I may say a few things about Floor and how and why she makes people feel what they feel when they hear her voice.....
Floor is a "highly sensitive person".
That means she is highly sensitive to things most people don't have a problem with.
Crowded rooms (like in a party, celebrating, get together) and everyone is talking about something different at the same time... it could be enough to overload anyone's brain. A normal person would handle that without a problem.
Floor would be overwhelmed by so many people talking all at once and even picks up on the emotional energy floating around in the room.
When she's on tour, she can't be without nature for too long. Sooner or later she will go somewhere quiet and with lots of woods. In fact, while in USA in May, she posted some pictures of them at the Natioal Forrest in Minnesota, I think.
But if you know what I mean..... it was time for her to replenish her natural energies and reconnect with Gaia if only for a moment.
So now you know what I mean?
She even went on and said that when she's performing, she can't focus on any one point in the crowd too long because if she sees someone crying, she's going to cry too.
What does this have to do with singing?
Well, I will start answering that by saying most bands, especially American bands, want to put on a good show and show their musicianship and their ability to out perform other musicians. That being said, the songs very rarely sound the same, they play them too fast, and a lot of times very sloppy.
Nightwish is about feeling.
Nightwish is about emotion, and Floor makes sure to understand what she is singing so well, that she plays out and expresses her own emotions in relation to the song. She acts out the song because, well, she's the one telling the story and she wants the audience to feel what she's feeling.
She is also extremely smart and well trained in what types of sounds and colors to put into what she's singing, to get the right effects or feelings and emotions of what she is saying.
About the video (song).
Tuomas wrote it at the request of their German publishers who, very suddenly, asked for a song and that it should be 3 minutes max. I could be wrong, but I believe they asked for a slow song. In the end, this was the final product.
This song is about the total solar eclipse that occurred on August 11, 1999, however, it was recorded between May and June before it even happened.
