    Thanks for the tip. My Silver Dragon was pushing out huge leaves and then the last 2 were smaller. After checking the pot I noticed that She was pot bound. She also gave Me 5 corms and I was able to repot her in the clear plastic pots I just bought. They’re so practical because you can see just what’s happening with the plant. Although My Pink Dragon ist still pushing out huge leaves and babies She’s also pot bound but some Alocasia Vibe better in a snug environment. I’ll just wait to see how large the next leaf is. Thanks again for the info.

She doesn't understand that it was for her good! Would she rather be suuuper root bound with poor drainage? But how does she repay me? 💔 Please help lol! *SOS* the fiddle is not happy about being repotted 😭

    My pothos is in a large North facing window. It's pretty bright in there. It's one of the brighter rooms in my house. And yet it has small leaves and very long vines with few leaves. I don't have any south windows unfortunately. I have a lot of plants and can't be buying anymore grow lights. I don't have enough electrical outlets for more lights anyway. I don't get why this is happening. If I need grow lights for every plant, I'm just not going to be able to do that.

    I love pothos and have several different cultivars. Unfortunately, some of them keep producing teeny tiny leaves, especially my Epipremnum aureum. I recently moved it in front of an east-facing window and still need to wait for the results. I would appreciate every bit of help with it because I'd love to get big leaves, so if you have any pointers feel free to send them my way :D

    I was wondering why my last 2 leaves of each string of my golden photos were so tiny and "curled" on themselves...turns out I was maybe overwatering it :( luckily the roots didn't smell bad, and very few were rotten. I replaced half of the old soil with a new mixture of perlite, clay pebbles and fresh soil, trying to not disturb the healthy roots that were holding onto the other half of the old soil. I hope my pothos recovers well 🙏🏻

    I have 2 plants out of like 15 in the same tent growing tiny leaves which is annoying. It’s bushy and short and healthy just w tiny leaves. I thought salts but all the other plants are fine. They probably have a magnesium deficiency. Maybe I amended those 2 plants with too much dry amendments. I can’t remember. Sometimes it’s a boron deficiency believe it or not.

    My peperomia obtusifolia is completely small! It use to have big leaves 🍃 and was so beautiful, then it lost almost all of its leaves when the weather hit -20°F and the plant was left on the porch. It managed to survive but with extreme frost damage. Now over a year has passed and all the new leaves are tiny, between 1in to 1.5 inches.
    The leaves use to be as big as my hand :( now it’s looks like a bonsai version of its old self. I don’t know if it’s due to the frost damage but I need help

    As always very informative, thank you! I have a question regarding tiny leaves and coleus (palettblad). I've had several coleus over the years, and they always end upp with tiny leaves after a few months, to a point where new shoots and leaves just die off on their own and I can't save the plant. The tiny leaves grow extremely close to each other, with only a few millimetre internodes. The leaves always become deformed as well, irregular in shape. When I troubleshoot, I realise it can't really be any of the problems brought up in this video - there's no overwatering, they have plenty of indirect sunlight and during winter they have a plant light to help during the dark months. I only give a very small amount of nutrition and only during late spring to early autumn, and most of the plants have been recently repotted so I don't think they could be root bound either. I just don't know what to do at this point! For examlple, I have tried cutting the whole plant back to the point where the small leaves started to appear, but the new that grow out keep coming out tiny. I haven't seen any pests on them either, so I just don't know what to do anymore. Any help would be much appreciated!

    • @bongsu551
      @bongsu551 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I had that problem too but it was solved by me replanting those shoots in full sunlight (after hardening g them off for a few days) and after 2 months the leaves are no long deformed or tiny. (I live in the tropics).

    Very helpful video! S am I safe to assume that if my monstera d. is not drinking its water anymore and is pushing out very small leaves compared to the extra large beauties I am used to that it simply needs a new pot and soil? I am concerned that it will rot if I do not because the smaller leaves although still variegated, are incredibly small and not as green as they should be.

    This was very helpful - Thank you for the video. I noticed a lot of my vining plants gets smaller leaves. I have a Silver Anne and eventually it was only growing vines and no leaves at each of the nodes... I let this plant dry out between watering and so I thought it was getting too little water. I water it more now and then I watch your video on the Silver Anne and now I'm 99% sure I overwatered it. Sigh. Lol Hopefully it survives.

    • @sara_387
      @sara_387 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      In the wild vining plants want to climb up trees, so they will put in less effort to produce big leaves when they are trailing, it’s not advantageous for them to do so. You can prune trailing plants and propagate when they start to get leggy. But make sure light is adequate, as this is essential for good growth.

(so strange?!) .. after that it receives the roots in the water, i put the Pothos in a soil and the leaves became really soft and not elastic... i don't understand why actually it happens. Another great video! Still wondering why Swedish guys are doing videos in English. Do you also make them in Swedish? Also wondering about your spelling. I'm in Canada and I'm wondering if you simply spell words differently, like the people in the UK do (tyre vs tire) or the US (honor vs honour) or if they are typos like leafs instead of leaves, or fertillizing instead of fertilizing.

    Does Calcium act similarly to the saults? I've been seeing a lot of buildup on my clay pots, some leaves turning yellow and my plants in general aren't thriving (despite amazing light conditions). I also see calcium buildup in my humidifier, that's why I ask.

    • @brianhardaway9716
      @brianhardaway9716 ปีที่แล้ว

      Your Water is too hard. Try using distilled water or getting a water filter. Salt on Clay pots is normal but unsightly. Using clear pots is more practical because you can see any changes happening with the plant. Check the roots for root rot or if she is pot bound. That was my problem and 2 1/2 weeks later She gave me a new leaf. Good luck.

    I have a lemon lime dracaena and I'm caring for it the same way I do for all my other dracaenas but it doesn't seem to be doing well. It's getting brown tips or the leaves turn black and eventually die. They are in the same area with ample sunlight, and they are all watered when the soil has dried out. Is there a different kind of care tip for this particular dracaena?

    • @carolynallen597
      @carolynallen597 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Have you removed the pot and inspected the roots? I treat my lemon lime the same as my other dracaena without a problem. I would get rid of all the soil, even soak it and rinse the roots to get as much off as possible, then repot in a well draining chunky or cactus soil. Good luck!

    • @SummerRamirez
      @SummerRamirez 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@carolynallen597 I haven't yet. It's been a month since I got it. The soil mix is actually good and airy but maybe I need to repot and check it out. Thanks for your suggestion, that was going to be my last resort.

    • @carolynallen597
      @carolynallen597 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You are welcome. Maybe the water is getting trapped in the root ball. You will see when you remove the soil, bc it sounds like root rot.

  • @maryannamuller

    How do you tell the difference between the effects of overwatering and underwatering? In both cases the plant is not getting enough water, but I never know whether to water more or if the plant is actually overwatered an root rot has set in.

    • @85sheena
      @85sheena 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      If a plant is overwatered, the leaves on the bottom will start to turn yellow. If a plant is under watered the bottom leaves will start to get crispy and dry up. Hope this helps.
