I struggle with a very temperamental Balfour Aralia. It is about 5 feet tall with spindly branches. I’d like to see it fill out. It’s not clear to me how to prune. Can you give me suggestions? Thank you for your great videos!
This is so interesting and informative! I've recently prune my ficus elastica because I heard one should, but then I felt bad because I kind of felt like I ruined it. It is so nice to know things that are happening in this process. Really helpful! Thank you :)
Such a good and helpful video as always! My favorite reason for pruning is to propagate and plant the propagated vines back in for an even fuller plant. Which brings me to a question I’ve been wishing would be covered by someone like you who really knows what he’s doing: When we have a plant like a pothos that’s technically many small plants in one pot, what considerations should that give us when caring for our plant? We think of it as “a plant” but it’s really individual plants that need individual care. So, when we rotate the plant toward the light, it isn’t really one plant that needs even lighting, but rather, we’re keeping some individual plants from getting no light. Anyway, it would be interesting to know how the individual plants interact when potted together as one plant.

I think you should explain more rather than just saying things. For example, I have a pothos and I’m curious why you said that for pothos, you cut between two nodes. Then I naturally expected you to explain why, but you didn’t. That is disappointing. Anyway, some constructive criticism.

I recently moved and pruned my pachira aquatica. The plant looks like it is doing fine, seems happy, I see new growth spots coming on, but I also see some sticky droplets on the leaves. I noticed this already over a year ago, but I never saw any bugs or whatsoever, it never got worse, and it kept on growing and putting out large new beautiful leaves. So I thought it was plant sap from the plant itself, guttation or something like that. This time however I saw on a few leaves that those droplets appear to dry up as sugar like crystals, which I haven't seen before... Is this normal, or do I really have an invisible bug on my plant?
Question, does the same apply to trees? Also if a tree gives fruit 2 times a year, when would be best to prune? Sorry for not a plant question, but I figured I'd ask anways.

Calathea loves bright light and humidity. If you are not sure when to water it place your finger tips 2 inches deep in the soil if the dirt falls off your finger it’s to water it. Or use a moisture thermometer so that you know if the soil is dry.
I've watched a hundred videos on gardening, but this is the first time I've learned about that traffic light hormone and why vining plants tend to grow longer. Thank you for this knowledge!

i just wanted to say that i am a big collector of plants, ~100 different species and this channel is my favorite, compard to other plant youtubers like philly foliage or planterina this is a lot more informative and to the point, the video's can get boring sometimes, the monotony specifically is something you could tackle. anyway love the content, keep goin!

All your plants want to kill you when you prune one of them but they just can't. That's why they grow bigger.
Also, you shouldn’t feed them after midnight and, whatever you do, never, ever get them wet.
Yay! For the sake of pruning, you just gave me an excuse to propagate my philodendrons and pothos! (Pothoses? Pothos’?)
I think you can just say pothos for the plural too, because it's not an english word so it doesn't follows english grammar rules.

I pruned my vining pothos for the first time in spring and now there are four leaves instead of one on each node! It has become so much fuller.

Hi Linda, I agree with your comment. I increased the Playback Speed in Setting and speeding it up helped a bit.
