Yeah I loved the 890r but had some issues and wanted to down size anyway (wanted something lighter for more aggressive off road). The 701 has fit my needs perfectly. Oh and I don’t think I’ll ever get rid of my GS unless I buy a new one. The GS is a great long distance rides with not to difficult off road. Although I’ve had it in some pretty difficult situations and it did fine. Just a bit heavy to pick up when your old line me. Haha.
Great review. I have a 701 in the UK and love it. I also have an 890 Adventure (non S) and honestly prefer the 701. The “Ergo” seat from Husqvarna is actually quite good. Mine has some fuelling issues which are throttle position related. As you rightly say, the low down is very strong and will haul up hills in high gears. I have the stock exhaust system which I prefer for noise. Does your new air cleaner make a lot more induction noise? Lastly, I have a 690 in the US which I’m riding in May. I got 62 mpg (that’s US gallons) on a 450 mile 2 day trip of mixed riding with luggage. I was keeping up with my buddy’s Tiger 900 so a decent test. My 701 is around 58 mpg based on faster roads. My 690 has a Rade Garage range extender which is excellent and an easy fit for you. Around 75 more miles with your riding. Happy riding!
Great review, thanks! Next week I take delivery of a new 2023 model 701 enduro. I will fit it out with wings exhaust, rade garage airfilter and coober LM, Co2 piggyback ecu. Do you run a revised ecu with your setup or not? The reason I ask is, I don’t want to run it to lean to cause damage to the engine. I do not get any satisfactory answer from the suppliers of these add on’s. Happy riding Sjaak from Spain
Thanks. No I don’t run any aftermarket ECU. All I did was remove the SAS with the Rottweiler kit. The reason for that was it took away any deceleration popping after adding the exhaust and intake system.
Great job
Awesome! Great job! Nice review!
we can see your GS in the garage !!
I’m curious that you mentioned the 890R … I nearly bought one !

Great review, thanks. We seem to have similar views on the bike. I like those mirrors, I think they'll be ordered soon. The bike is never finished :)
Nicely done

All you need now is a seat concepts seat
