    Jack Dempsey's are an extremely resilient fish - hence the name. I've seen these guys in even worse conditions unfortunately. Had a friend that kept a few in a neglected above ground pool with no filtration, i mean, the guys an idiot but he knows that. Side note though, they were absolutely massive, honestly the biggest I've seen (16 inches) so I thought they were flowerhorn or maybe an Oscar since the water was so cloudy.. Talked him into giving them to a well established local fish store and they keep them on display now.

    We have a jack dempsey also. We have had him since he was the size of a quarter now he's about 6 inches long in a 55 gal tank. For the past couple weeks he's laying on his side on the bottom of the tank. He's alive, eating, moving his fins, and moving himself around. Any advice on what to do or what it could be will be extremely helpful.🐟🐚

    • @CichlidBros
      @CichlidBros  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That’s odd. I would double check water parameters and monitor for any diseases. Otherwise, he may just be moody

    I’m going through the same thing I’ll be getting a 75 gallon within a month or a 125 and so far have two female convicts and a green terror and a Jack Dempsey all fish are babies and only about 1.5-2 inches

    My Jack is about 6mo old and has became a merderous psycho the last few weeks. Had 2 slightly smaller red devil's in tank I got my 3yr old for her 4th bday and he killed both with no warning. Now is torturing the other Jack that has been fine with him last 4mo so idk what deal is. Ended up getting bigger tank for a flowerhorn and if that don't work out it'll become a dovi tank. Daughter went from glo fish to dovi's in a year.. my issue is moving soon and not wanting to set up my 120gal till then

    I lost power for 6+hours on my jack tank. No heat no water flow, lighting, nothing. Thought dude was dead, he sat still in one spot, wasn't even moving any fins, probably freezing stiff. Power came back on finally, u had to poke him with a net and he booked it to his cave lol. Strong species of fish, love these guys.

    Beautiful fish they are. I've had my 2 Jack dempseys for 2 years now. Unfortunately one of them is acting funny all of a sudden and idk what to do. I've read it could be swim bladder disease. If anyone can help, please contact me.

    Great vid! I have a couple of JDs in a 125 with oscars and a green terror. The bigger of the two is very shy, reclusive and nice and the smaller one is a little devil.

    • @CichlidBros
      @CichlidBros  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Cichlid Dan sounds like an awesome setup and very typical of JDs being hit or miss when it comes to aggressive. Thanks for watching!

  • @smartbrosproductions5353
    @smartbrosproductions5353 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Every fish it’s different but similar at the same time. My jack survive 2 days in a cup because it’s too aggressive and stress out the rest mate si they start to die. I almost flushed but no he survived but still the most aggressive fish in my home I also tried a jewel fish but didn’t work and now the jewel it’s on a American comuninity doing so well.

      Brady’s Aquatics many get this colorful with age, proper care and tank size/parameters. Females get great color as well. We’ve been pretty lucky with Jack though. He’s an amazing specimen 👌🏻
