- Shiny Roaming Articuno after a decently quick 2,014 SRs in Platinum to complete the trio. I started my Roamer Quest with Zapdos so I had initially planned to hunt Articuno as the last but I just felt compelled to hunt it recently. Seeing the trio left unfinished for so long just spurred me on to finish them. It's a beautiful shiny, bright ice white with an amazing sprite in Platinum. I really love Platinum so to complete this trio is really amazing. I was memorised when they were roamers in my initial playthrough and I knew that someday I'd want to hunt them.
The Legendary Birds are some of my favourite Pokemon and Articuno to me is the prime example of a shiny not needing a drastic change to be a beautiful shiny. I'd love to hunt this in both Gen 2 & 3 one day too so I can admire the sprite differences.
Roamer #12 obtained which is incredible. I still can't believe I only have 5 left as of making this video. I'm not sure what's next as I need to repair a HDMI adapter for my Gamecube so Gen 2 perhaps if I get it back in time. Who knows.

Try doing it while watching TV or a movie so you don't have to think too hard about how long it's been. Also try in later generations with Shiny charm -- in ORAS the odds are more like 1/1300 than 1/8000
i'd say me if i didn't have almost 14k on a hoothoot cause that would be disrespectful to hoothoot

@@loulou3676 I've actually never shiny hunted in older gens cause the odds are too low 😂 My very first shiny hunt was Xerneas which took me 800 SRs in Ultrasun

My favorite part really is the hunt itself. Anyone can hack a shiny into the game and anyone can find a random full odds shiny. With a random shiny you might look at and remember that you were on route 209 when you caught it. With a pokemon you hunted for you remember the countless hours you spent watching movies or youtube videos with a gamboy or ds in your hand. The SRs, the anticipation, the buildup to the moment when it shines. Its like a trophy, you can look at it and know that you earned it.

Well I don’t think it’ll be possible to get it on the first try cause the chance to the get shiny is 1/8192. If you have a shiny charm it would be possible but it didn’t exist until the making of black 2 and white 2
It's always possible, the chance is never zero. It's definitely not PROBABLE though, but random shinies do happen to plenty of people.
I completely agree, for me its the journey that is the most exciting part strangely, the build-up, anticipation and then finally the satisfaction of getting something to shine is where you make the most memories I find. Like of course getting the shiny is amazing, but all the hours it takes to get to that, the friends you chat to along the way, videos and shows/movies I watch whilst I'm hunting, I tend to remember those the most.
Been having a tough time recently with stress and anxiety, these videos are so calming it really helps :) I don't have much time to hunt myself anymore, so these still give that excitement of a shiny without spending hours on it haha

@@sxcgremlinkyo119 wish it was that simple my guy, but balancing work and school and extra tutoring and my anxiety, it all gets to be a bit much. Schedules might work for some but not for me

How do you make it so there is only one of them? When you talk to oak dont all 3 of them appear as roamers?
YAASS, I was waiting for roaming Articuno to come! Just in general my fave of the legendary birds, and on top of that, its shiny is really beautiful in sprite form. Congrats Steve, another successful hunt!

Been full odds hunting for little over a year now, and I’ve met so many awesome people who I call friends now, and have made so many crazy memories. Articuno is definitely one of my favorite shiny legendaries, but it’s gen 3 shiny is much better IMO. The lighter blue/white stays the same, but the beak and legs/feet change to a beautiful navy blue, which looks amazing.

I totally get what you mean about hunting in childhood copies, my Platinum version was my favorite as a kid and I treasure all the shinies I catch in it a bit more than other games. Congrats on finishing the bird trio in gen 4!

Congrats on your completed Trio! I also love Gen 4. You can just tell how much effort they put into fleshing out the region, routes, caves and all locations. The new gens are just so empty and completely nonexsitent in terms of exploring or finding new or hidden stuff. Oh you beat the Elite Four and the Champion, too bad, we were too lazy so you were everywhere you could go and have nothing left to explore have fun. Just Mt. Coronet had so manny little paths branching out that you could always come back and find another cave entrance leading to some items or secret location. It really saddens me and I almost don't want Sinnoh remakes. I feel like they will destroy the region...

Also, I agree with you on some pokemon not needing a crazy colour change to make a beautiful shiny. I really love shiny Paras, Ledian, Blissey and Carracosta, even if they are very subtle.
I also agree with matching a pokemon's colour with that of the pokeball, it makes it feel that much more amazing and worthwile.
You inspired me to start shiny hunting! Currently am hunting a Sandile, Krookodile has one of the most underrated shinies imo.

Completing childhood game dreams, it's sometimes bittersweet, but in the end always worth completing it :)
I have been on a similar mission myself, catching shiny Ponyta, unlocking all emblems in Sonic Adventure 2 Battle and paying my house off in Animal Crossing. Even getting a world record in Mario 64.

Currently hunting Cresselia in gen 8. Dynamax Adventure hunts are so much more draining than SR hunts I feel, even though the odds are much higher. I got Tapu Koko after just 57 attempts, but at 15 minutes an attempt, with a few failures due to bad AI it's frustrating. Congrats on the quick hunt!

Gg m8, i never did a roamer hunt but my static mewtwo and zapdos hunts in fire red were really amazing, i also hunted other 20+ legendaries in following games and tons of normal shiny pokemons.
