Niv-Mizzet Reborn wouldn't grab Villainous Wealth. The card has to have exactly 2 colors, meaning 3 color cards cannot be grabbed. There's a play mistake
Lol, what are these starting hands?? Chris got bailed out by the sol ring, but Andrew my friend... what are you doing? Someone needs to have an intervention for your playgroup to stop keeping 2 land do nothing hands.
Dammit, with that Fortification card and that ManLand Enchantment from kamigawa in your opening hand, that Obuun deck looked like it was build with a lot of fun in mind. It sucks it didnt get to shine. Andrew, please post more games with that deck if you have them, i wanna see more of it. The deck list too
2:56 Darksteel Garrison isn't an aura, it's essentially a land equipment; so for the 2 mana to play it, it should just stay on the battlefield unattached until the Fortify ability is activated. 3:57 Niv Reborn can only explicitly get cards that are _exactly_ two colors. His ability _cannot_ get cards that are 3 or more colors, such as Villainous Wealth. 16:12 It's kinda hard to tell how many counters the Bane had, but I really doubt it was big enough to kill the Wilderness Elemental. Xenagos pumps power _and_ toughness, so it was far larger than just the written 3 toughness, especially after it got pumped twice that turn. Going by the second pump being stated as +26, I assume it had base power 13, so it would've been 13*2*2 power and 3+13+26 toughness, or a 52/42 in total.
You're spot on for the first two markers, but you'll notice in the third one he brings back the Elemental. He'd forgotten Xenagos pumps both like you mentioned. It's how he won.
Question: is merieke able to steal multiple creatures at the same time?? I thought she steals one when she is tapped and whenever she becomes untapped, she destroys the creature she has under control. How was it she had Niv-Mizzet and the shape shift at the same time?
Hey Joshua. I explained it in a different comment, but basically the "steal" trigger and the "if she becomes untapped, destroy the creature she stole" are two separate triggers on the card. (Seperate sentences) I let the first trigger resolve and untap her before the second trigger checks. Then I re-tap her to steal another creature. That's why my deck has lots of untap abilities.. the more I can untap, the more I can steal at a time!
So as long as you tap her down before the second trigger for untapping resolves, she never destroys the creature because the second trigger will never fully see her untapped.😳 If that's right, that's crazy😂
@@joshuajinsu2559 Interestingly, Rubinia Soulsinger has a similar ability but it's not in two different parts so you can't pull this trick with her! Here's Rubina's ability text: "(tap)Gain control of target creature for as long as you control Rubinia and Rubinia remains tapped."
@@markstephenhughes that is interesting they would make a less optimal version of Merieke. No need to play Rubinia I guess😂. You have an awesome deck though! Do you have a deck list on moxfield or something?
muddstah, dude, you gotta stop keeping these 2 land hands with no acceleration and hoping they work out. there are far too many games on this channel where someone keeps a 2 lander and makes the game 3 players from the start
A 2 land hand is fine if you have somewhere to go with it, I keep them pretty regularly. The issue is you kept a 2 lander with 0 castable spells AND you realistically needed to get all the way to 4 lands (Oracle, and even then its reliability is highly questionable) to potentially dig your way out. If you had a fetch land of some sort to synergize with the crucible, that hand was greedy but keepable. Next time you go to keep a greedy hand- plot the course out before hand. Ask yourself what the hand does. If it's literal nothing without additional cards, you probably shouldn't be keeping it- even if that means shipping off some powerful shiny things.

Hey Jeremy, so. Merieke has an interesting interaction. The "tap to steal" and the "if untapped, destroy the creature" are two seperate actions on the card.
