Your vids are super informative thank you!!
Just what I need. Thank you, Doc!
You're welcome! I'm glad a very nich video like this could help somebody.
Acuvue Oasys Max MF is a game changer for me. I used to wear Dailies Total 1 MF but I often got blurred vision. Oasys Max MF gives me the same comfort throughout the day, at least for 12 hours.
From your video to all the comments, it's all really helpful. I also think part of the challenge is finding a provider to work with you. I just re-entered the contact lens presbyopia market and went with a big box provider, not impressed. Finding someone familiar with C.lenses & presbyopia to work with you is a challenge itself. My eyes just don't like contact lenses, but I found some great comments here too that might help!
Excellent video, thank you! Is the contact Rx different for monthlies and dailies? I was given samples of the Acute Oasys Max by my doctor and I noticed they were 0.25 more each. (I see well with them, so does it matter?)
Got my first set of contacts, my near vision is fantastic, my far is blurry. I go back for a follow up in a week. I hope my eyes adjust to them or they can correct my far vision blurriness ðĒ, Iâm excited about not needing readers
Hi! Do they go up to a +8 (with astigmatism? And dry eye?ðĨ°I would like to be a patient!
Hi greetings from Scotland. Due to my Astigmatism I have found Synergeyes ID MDOF lenses to be amazing. True they are expensive but due to rotation I found soft contacts(especially as my astigmatism has got worse) to be not great. I am in my early 50s.
I wear Biofinity single vision in right eye and Biofinity mulitifocal D in left eye. They're comfortable and vision is not bad, but I sometimes have to put on readers over the contact lenses if I'm doing extended work on the computer or reading. It definitely beats premium progressive eyeglasses. I've been wearing contact lenses since eighth grade, and it's not a vanity thing, I just prefer the wider field of vision and not having the cumbersome feel of eyeglasses on my face.
I changed 3 months ago to multifocal contacts (I was using single-focus contacts plus reading glasses), and I am blown away by how good they are. My vision feels 15 years younger! :-) However, it took me a while to find the right far/near power combination, so take your time. To give you an idea, my optician measured +2.50 far and +4.50 near. So I would need +2.50+2.00. However, my first lenses with that power were horrible. I could see near very well, but anything at middle distance or far was very blurry. After some trial and error, I now have +2.00+High (Baush+Lomb Ultra). The middle distance is sometimes a bit blurry, but otherwise all good. I might try +2.25+Low to see if the middle distance gets better.
However, I do find the Ultra very hard to put on. They are much more flexible than my previous single-focus (Biofinity Energys), and I am learning all over again how to put the lenses on.
But it is so worth it, I am enjoying so much having these young eyes again :-)
My lasik surgery wore off, now I need glasses again, but I have no problem reading, would these work?
These look like great products for sure. Once I needed progressive lenses, I just switched to my glasses full time, but for those who don't want to do that, I hope they find something that works for them.
That is what a lot of people do. Thanks for commenting again. You are awesome!
I only have multi focal in one eye. I use cooper vision Biofinity. It works great.
Can I use them if I have very dry eyes? Thank you so much in advance
What is the max you can go for the distance - and up close + at the same time in one lens? I was -4.75 and +1.50, but now my vision has gotten worse.
What's the logic behind most contacts having a high ADD of +2.5? (and most don't get to +3.00 for example)? What happens with contact lenses that have the same high Add of +2.5 but you need to buy Dominant /non dominant?
First time trying contacts a week ago I was given B&L ultra multifocal. I did NOT do well with them. Everything was blurry. Was switched to monovision this week and much happier. I also have astigmatism.
Good to hear monovision has been working well for you. I have found that monovision tends to be a better method with people who have signicant astigmatism.
First day of wearing a multifocal contact lens; it will definitely take some getting used to, however, they seem very nice, and I can see now.
Hi! Do you put them in like any other lens or there's top and bottom?
Do any of these come in colours
I tried the multifocal Daily 1 contacts and found my left eye dried out after 4 hours. I tried them only 3 times and wonder if I didnt give my eyes enough time to adjust. What is the usual adjustment period? I am going to try the Biotrue by B and L next.
I currently wear Biofinty Multifocal D -1.00 with +2.00 add in both eyes. They are very uncomfortable. Iâve tried several different contacts and cannot wear center near because I canât see distant with them at all. I have small pupils. Now, I would like to try other contacts but was told Biofinity Multifocals are the only center distance contacts available. Is that true and do you have any recommendations?
I operate a lot in low light environment. If thatâs the case, is it worth having a multifocal?
I just started wearing them vs multifocal glasses. My vision blurry every time I blink for a second or two. Will this go away with time?
Hey there, I've worn rigid gas permeable contacts for decades now. Are there such a thing as rigid multifocal lenses?
Hi! Yes there is!
Silicone Hydrogel dries out my eyes surprisingly. Acuvue Moist Multifocal works best for me.
Also a great design! Just fit a patient in them today. ð
Im 75 started wearing multi focal last year, I find these great wished I knew about them.years ago. So convenient.
Can anyone point me to where I can buy a multifocal toric lens?
Hi
Since two years my right eyebrow is watery and sometimes gets red and itchy I used so many eye drops didn't work out can you please help Dr says it's kind of some allergy I don't know what to do?
Do you know which eye drops you have used? I wish I could help more, but without being able to look at your eyes under a microscope it's hard to know what is wrong.
I am doing that comment here cuz the video you uploaded about his topic was a year ago ..
Please reply
I got subconjuctival hemorrhage yesterday in both of my eye it looks scary
No pain no irritation and no vision problems
I visit to a doctor she gave me CIPROFLOXACIN eye drops

Hi, thanks for the comment. I responded to your comment on the other video
Is there a contact lens that works similar to bifocal reading glasses, in that the middle and upper part of your vision is normal but when you look down to read a screen etc its magnified and in focus? I ask as a pilot that has normal far vision but struggles to see the instruments screens so not sure if contacts would work.
There was, I don't know if there still is. I tried that option years ago and could not get the focus right. Multifocals work great for me, i see 20/20 and don't need reading glasses. Total daily 1, pricey but worth it. Would probably work well in dry cabin air, they are 99 percent water and have a mechanism to release moisture from the center of the lens.
One eye is nearsighted and the other is farsighted. I've tried multi focal in hopes of seeing far and close but it seems like it's not that clear. It;'s a little blurry in a distant and close up. Similar to not wearing anything. Maybe it's just not for me. I like regular contacts because everything in a distant is clear but I can't read anything up close. It's pretty annoying
I just entered the slightly overwhelming world of multi focal lenses. I have astigmatism just in my right eye and my dr tried a couple of options, neither of which are working well for me. First option was no mf lens in either eye, just correcting distance vision in dominant eye and barely correcting distance in non dominant eye so that my near vision wasnât made so much worse (but it still certainly made it worse and made me feel disoriented all day). The second option was Acuvue daily oasysmax mf in non dominant eye and regular distance correction (Acuvue oaysys for astigmatism) in the dominant eye. Itâs less disorienting but my mid to near distance is still worse than it is without any contacts in (holding arm outstretched now and struggling to type this!) These are obviously not good options for me and wondering about using non daily mf lenses that have astigmatism option, like Bausch or Biofinity. Feeling discouraged at this point that mf lenses will actually allow me to see near and far or if one always sacrifices the other?
Great video. I've been wearing dailies total 1 multifocal for 2 years. They are good for about 6 to 8 hours then i have to reach for the drops and sometimes that doesn't help. Do you think the new oasys max would do better in a 8 to 12 hour day with a lot of computer use?
I would say they would be worth a try. I have had a few patients already switch over to the max lenses.
I ended up switching to Oasys max multifocals. They are awesome and more comfortable for me. I think they may be the new contact king!
I have the Alcon Air Optix Multifocal contact lense. I can see far just fine but when Iâm working on the computer, the letters are somewhat blurry. Sometimes itâs so bad that I canât really see the letters to tell what words are on the screen. Is this normal? My doctor usually tells me that I canât have both far and near vision. Iâm struggling with these lenses..I would appreciate your input. Thanks in advance.
I have this same problem with all the contacts Iâve tried except for Biofinity Multifocal (Dominant) in both eyes. Iâm convinced I cannot wear centered near contacts without extreme blurriness at most distances. Are there any other center distance contacts out there?
Yes itâs common. I have the same situation as yours for years now. I have trial lenses in right now for distance and astigmatism. Iâve tried multifocal before but they have a very small, u canât see it, but itâs a weight built into the lense to keep them in the right position. Tried them four times and they felt like I had a rock on my lenses. After a week I told my Dr that these just arenât going to work. But Iâm going to try the Biofinity Multi Focal next week. The dr at Americas Best heard all my issues in the past with these and he said over the last few years theyâve gotten much more comfortable.
Anyway my point was lol, wear your lenses for distance, and find a reader that works for near sight. Thatâs what I did.
I'm using one multiofcal (+1.00, low)and one distance (+1.00) both acuvue oasys max, but my near vision still requires cheaters at time and my distance is blurred at times. Do the B&L work better for the distance because they help with astigmaitsm?
Its possible they could, especially if you have a significant amount of Astigmatism. But... I have seen people with Astigmatism see better with the normal multifocals... so it can be tricky depending on the person.
Are there coloured lenses options available?
Not for multifocals unfortunately
I have been to NINE eye appts (5 different times Drs) in the last 2 years. Struggling massively to get decent vision near and far. Each Dr has put me in a WIDE range of powersâĶ.each creating difficulties in one or both eyes. It is driving me NUTS!!!
Question: Does the low or high add affect the required distance power?
Note: 53 years oldâĶ.recently began needing readers ONLY IF wearing my lenses which correct for distance OD -2.50 OS -3.00
Generally Higher add powers will have a stronger near power zone, or wider power zone... which can affect the clarity of the distance vision. Hopefully you can find something that works for you!
@@DrEyeGuy Thank you for taking the time to reply. I am really trying to discern the impact of power add on the base power. I realize this is hard to say definitively, but if am wearing a -2.50 Low and needed more add power would I need a -2.50 High or would I need a -2.75 High?
The Acuvue Max look exceptional but the price is pretty much insane and will eliminate 85% of the population who needs them. Hopefully that price goes down a bit in the next couple years. $1300 yr is a killer.
I agree... They recently increase their contact lens prices... by a very significant amount.
@DrEyeGuy what are the options for multifocals for astigmatism. Only 2 options? B&L Ultra toric MF and Coopervision bioaffinity toric MF? I heard B&L has a new one out, Infuse toric MF? any recs for dry eyes?
Those are the two main options right now. Infuse daily MF did come out, but it does not have a toric option as of right now. Infuse has been great for those with dry eyes. 1-day Max MF has also been great.
Do I need to get these contacts lenses from eye doctors?
Yes
@@DrEyeGuy Thanks.
I have an astigmatism CYL of -2.25 in both eyes. I'm 50 years old and have to wear reading glasses with my current toric contact prescrption. I wonder if toric multifocals would work for me?
It's possible. They wouldn't be perfect, but it could definitely help.
@@DrEyeGuy Thank you!
@@DrEyeGuy One more question for you, if you have time and interest to address. Is it possible that an optometrist could be mistaken about the axis of a particular eye? I moved my contact the other day and swear I could see better for a brief moment. Then, it settled into position (it's a weighted toric) and became blurry in the one eye. This has been an issue since I purchased the contacts a month ago. One eye is clear, the other clearer than without the contact in, but not as clear as the other contact. When I told the optimistic about it during my follow up, she took a round glass and stuck it front of my eye that was blurry. I could see clear. She said she overcorrected me. I went home and used the corrected contact, and it was still blurry. I come to the conclusion my axis is off. Maybe I'm wrong, but it's driving me crazy. I feel I should see equally as well out of one eye just the same as the other. Could it be the contact is defective?
I don't get how these zones provide multi-focus at all. In my mind, you can't look through the outer rings. You would always be looking through the center ring.
I juggle 4 pairs of glasses for driving, laptop, phone and detail work (3.5-4.0x). I can't do progressives. I have astigmatism. I need absolute clarity. I'm thinking of getting 2 sets of bifocals, but don't have the money right now.
Pupil size can have an effect on how the zones work for sure.
@@DrEyeGuy Does anyone make glasses that I can manually focus?
There are generic reading glasses that you can manually focus the near power... they don't work the best though.
@@DrEyeGuy Oo, I'd love to see how those work!
â@@High-Tech-Geek Saw a pair on Amazon. Reviews were not good.
Brother i dont know how to buy contact lense espciially online, i have only reading problem of +1.5, distance i dont have any issue, kindly suggest how to buy online , most of the websites showing high, low etc, i dont have any idea
Do you have a prescription from your eye doctor. That should have all the information on it if you were fit with a multifocal contact lens
