I am going to disagree, we have no clue which ending leads to the FFXIV crossover and i am even going to say that D into E sounds unlikely to me because 2B and 21O make appearances in the crossover. However we will most likely know for certain in 3 months time.
Actually, the stage play goes on even farther to explain what happens *after* ending E, which...also assumed ending E is the canon ending, so we have that too. =3
I think my favorite part of Automata are the enviornments. It's a story about strife, and perpetual war, and the meaning of life, but everything is green. In the face of the war fought between humans and androids, nature simply doesn't care.
It is, in all honesty, a good world. The birds are happy. The trees are alive. Who cares if mankind is extinct? After all, seems that it was a good life.
"A future is not given to you. It is something you must take for yourself." This perfectly encapsulates the Ending E credits. The Gods (in this case, the devs) decided for all of 3 of them to die. But we the players don't want that so we fight them for it. We are fighting for the future where they will live. _Everything that lives is designed to end._ _"We" are perpetually trapped ..._ _... in a never-ending spiral of life and death._ _Is this a curse?_ _Or some kind of punishment?_ _I often think about the god who blessed us with this cryptic puzzle ..._ _... and wonder if "we'll" ever have the chance to kill him._ Damn. I love this game so much.
I love this game so much. It's still on my mind constantly. I cried so much during the ending when it clicked and I was completely overwhelmed. I'm 31 now and feeling more and more alone as I have been seeing my friends less and less over the last years. I was sitting alone on a Saturday night, 30 kilometres from where I had build my life but had to leave due to health problems. It still makes my heart race, after all this time the effect it had on me has not diminished. This goes beyond a game and I consider NieR_Automata an experience I hope for all people to experience as well.
If I understood well: The bunker could have been destryoed at any time but the machines decided to let the fight going to continue evolving. Thus the existence of Yohra only serves the machines. Am I right? Man this game is confusing...
Yeah... it kinda is. The first clue is the "black box" which is actually a machine's core. But the true creator of Yorha is not clear. The earlier Yorha was created by other androids to fight the machines. But in the process, the machine hijacked YorHa and put a backdoor inside YorHa so it could be wiped out easily when the time comes. The newer YorHa is then created each time the older YorHa was destroyed. The Machines keep destruction of YorHa as a secret, so that the rest of the androids (The Resistence) on Earth don't know about this. in short, The Machines create their own enemies and let them evolve in order to further evolve their own kind.
Yes it was deep and really philosophical... I remember hating the ending because of the overwhelming amount of "nothing matters, it doesn't matter what you do, nothing matters." It was still an epic game

Amazing video as always, Oni. This game's story really is a piece of art. Sidenote, I noticed that Gathering Keepsakes was not mentioned in the video, but Emil's death was. May I ask why?
Time mainly, a lot of really good sidequests were cut to fit the recap under an hour. I was also respecting the Yoko Taro interview when he specifically said an angry 9S would not have done it. Also, Copy Emil is such an important link to the original Nier, so I felt recognition was appropriate.
I finished the E ending immediately after getting c and d and willingly sacrificed my save for others before touching any of the then unlocked postgame options. At first I thought I was calling the games bluff. Even as I watched it delete my saves I thought it couldn’t be real. I will never forget how that made me think about it for a long time. I started up a new playthrougj briefly intending to get there again and actually go back and take advantage of the ability to replay any point in the game and find all the other endings. Didn’t get too far before I just needed to stop... for now. Almost about to go back and finish that second playthrough watching this.
Wow, I missed a lot of plot even though I read everything the game threw at me. Everybody has their moment that makes them cry, and although I also cried at the end credits scene, the story of Debola and Popola really touched me. How they only had one another in a world that hated them for no other reason than bearing the same face of another pair that fucked it up. Made me feel really sad for them.
Thanks for the recap, I listened up to 14 minutes now I remember where I was in the game. I'll be resuming the game where I left off and see what happens after that point.

I refuse to acknowledge the timelines where Pascal is either mind-wiped or mercy-killed. A2 left without doing either, saving Pascal from both oblivion and infinite recurrence.
@@deadpoolrockz6410 According to his profile, in that timeline he just left. It's the only one with any chance of growth, and considering the theme of the whole game is repeating cycles and trying to break free of them, that seems the most satisfying result.

Pretty sure the androids created yorha, and the backdoor so they could be replaced at regular intervals without learning or exposing the truth. The machines just happened to gain access to it and use it once they’d gained data; it doesn’t exist for their benefit. As far as i know the war doesn’t continue just for machines. The androids do seem to be a distinct party, perpetuating the war because it’s their purpose, despite humanity being wiped out. Yorha just happen to be disposable and to exist for morale purposes and to maintain a deception.
I tried my best with this game but I just couldn't get past the first ending. So many people find it so special that I came here to figure out why. What was I missing that made me not connect with it. I watched the whole thing. This video is amazingly done. I'm so glad that this game has touched so many people as deep as it has. But I'm glad I didn't go on to find the next endings though. I got bored just by following this video. My mind kept disconnecting by how little I was caring about it as events were being explained to me. I tried my best, but sadly, I'm not one of those people that got touched by the game. But I'm glad it exists. So many people feel so much for it it's clear it's a special one.

Beautifully put.
Not developed as others comments but just wanna congrats you for that video, It is amazing, good job :D
I like letting Pascal to learn from his mistakes
@Super Mario it’s actually surprisingly a he, search it up
I was so confused at the beginning of the game, people talked about it as an hack n slash and here I was playing a top down arcade shooter lmao 😂
10/10, would recommend
Amazing video as always, Oni. This game's story really is a piece of art.
Sidenote, I noticed that Gathering Keepsakes was not mentioned in the video, but Emil's death was. May I ask why?
Time mainly, a lot of really good sidequests were cut to fit the recap under an hour. I was also respecting the Yoko Taro interview when he specifically said an angry 9S would not have done it. Also, Copy Emil is such an important link to the original Nier, so I felt recognition was appropriate.
@@OniBlackMage Oh, I see. I didn't know Yoko Taro said that. Thanks for the reply!
Didn’t get too far before I just needed to stop... for now. Almost about to go back and finish that second playthrough watching this.
i love how you make videos from the perspective of the player with things like "a person named kaine" or "another talking head"
A lot of people overlook the machine research report. It's good of you to include that.
Hands down the best game I've ever played. Everything about it is perfect.
Thank you for the good content also this is one of rare video which I don't need to speed up to 2x to enjoy unlike most of the video out there.
God .. i wanna cry i miss this game soo much
I broke down crying when Emil finally remembered Kaine it would even more heart crushing if in his final moments Emil called A2 Kaine
Nier: Automata
(Become as Logs Edition)
Thanks for the recap, I listened up to 14 minutes now I remember where I was in the game. I'll be resuming the game where I left off and see what happens after that point.
Amazing video , DIDNT miss a thing
I know what I'm doing when I get off work tonight
"Do not feel bad about it. We are alive, after all. And being alive is pretty much a constant stream of embarrassment."
I felt that....
Amazing crazy ass game. Nice Recap Oni! (as always)
Amazing video for an amazing game.
The summary was good but anyone who hasn’t played it had to themselves a favor a check it out. It’s my favorite video game narrative yet.
I literally cried when i finished all the main endings. This game is a masterpiece
Drakengard may fade into obscurity at this point, but even so, will you be doing a recapitation on the Drakengard series as well? At least to tie in the lore of Draken/NieR?
Probably yes
Pascals fate will always break my heart.
I refuse to acknowledge the timelines where Pascal is either mind-wiped or mercy-killed. A2 left without doing either, saving Pascal from both oblivion and infinite recurrence.
But doesn't A2 leaving open up the possibility of Pascal committing sucide on his own anyway?
@@deadpoolrockz6410 According to his profile, in that timeline he just left. It's the only one with any chance of growth, and considering the theme of the whole game is repeating cycles and trying to break free of them, that seems the most satisfying result.
I get that, but I went with the option the novel did. Probably for that extra helping of tragic irony.
@@OniBlackMage Oh I understand completely. I'm just stating my opinion publicly in a place that should attract a lot of people who know about Nier in hopes of getting validation.
Pascal was my fav sidekick. I was literally in shambles playing out that chapter. When it was finally time to make the decision, tears pouring out, I decided to leave. Reminded me of myself when I hit rock bottom. I trust that Pascal can find it within him to rise from the pain, and treasure the most precious gift- life itself. Damn this game hit so close to home.
Funny thing (and small plot hole by yoko taro ) the dlc data on a2 for her backstory details that they destroyed a chunk of the machine network (rebuilt by the time of the game) in a mountain technically there should be one final ending where 9s essentially becomes the lone king of an empty throne all servers for the network destroyed all machines dead doomed to walk alone for eternity and a world empty of what was
H
Best ps4 game
You should be hired by a TV Channel. Such a good content diserved milions of views 👏👏👏
"They find robots wearing a façade of clothes."
Ha, I see what you did there.
Yorha just happen to be disposable and to exist for morale purposes and to maintain a deception.
nah the machines Essentially kept creating yorha Android After a short while of the androids doing it but getting Destroyed in a murder suicide
The next installment will follow the replicants P0W, Z4P, and 84NG in Nier: Onomatopoeia.
the moment where devola and popola suppose to attack the enemys around the tower and u need to hack the door to the tower i had a bug. One of those girls keep attacking the door insteed of the enemy so i was no able to hack it myself because nobody hold the enemys off. It really ruined this sad moment for me, and i never encountered this bug again but still it was my first encounter to the situation and i will never forget that :/
Yes! I always look forward to your uploads.
A lot, a lot happened in nicer automata, most of it was me crying
I was watching nier automatas's "movie" just crying xD
Anyone else noticed that Pod 153's SN is every digit on 042, and 42 is the answer for life, universe and everything?
It's also the numbers of the sisters from Drakengard 3, being Zero (the MC) and her sisters 1-5
My boy Caim needs some love after that fighter jet shot him 😭
That emil part side quest i missed that😭😭😭😭 thanks for this video
hello thank you for this. love it.
question will you do the new nier replicant when it comes out? 4/23/21
Yes... I find because Automata retcons a lot of stuff to connect or add significance, I will recap Replicant and use it to retcon in the details not mentioned in my Gestalt recap
@@OniBlackMage ok i can;t wait and thank you.
@@OniBlackMage hello will you do all of the drakengard games please. thank you.
Thank you! I really enjoy watching your works!
I can't believe I never picked up on the fact that the desert machines are clothed in similar fashion to the desert guys in NieR Replicant/Gestalt (then again I've never played the original NieR).
Thankyou for summing this all up, I tried playing the game but got lost in the city with the resistance....
Thank you. Please keep them coming
Personally, I do prefer the original NieR, but I certainly can't diss Automata.
Great video as always. Thanks for doing this one on one of my favorite games of the past decade 👍🏻
I wish I had time to play these games 😭 thank you for recapping these games
I truly enjoyed this episode. What a wonderful recap!
Great video mate
i missed the entirety of the emil and lunar tear interaction and have never seen the room at the end of the forest castle, time to play again hahaha
thank you for the effort on recap. it makes me enjoy the game more
I cry everytime
This is not a meme, I mean it :'(
Never played any of the games, but I love the lore and depth of them all
Brilliant work as usual dude, thank you for the recap!
Keep up the good content!
In Ending D: 9S dies from A2 but from 2B's sword meaning that 9S dies from 2B even at the end, which I found quite fascinating.
Congrats 9S, ya played yourself
I want to want 9S and 2B redemption game. I'm too tired with explaining why, the only thing I need to say is they love each other.
YEEESSSSS UNEXPECTED BUT DEFINITELY WANTED!!!
Huh this one of the shorter games you've covered but by far one of the longest in terms of video length
someone i knew couldnt play nier automata because they dont play games and it was too hard for them, so i played this video instead, thanks!
game literally has a Mode where the game plays itself
