Excellent . Nothing at all to do with my problem , but I really enjoyed watching the repair.
I could sit all day watching people work .😄
Never know this headunit made in thailand that forget put a thermal grease in audio amplifier ic. Such a shame.
Really great content.
For the record - and this is just my personal opinion - I absolutely 100% favor this type of content. What I mean is that you took the time to record the initial troubleshooting, ordered and received the part and resumed recording after obtaining the parts. It's one of my very FAVORITE things about some of my everyday TH-cam content creators like Mustie!, Andrew Camarata and My Mate Vince. You're making a strong comeback, Kev.
Thanks Tech. I hope to keep up with the pace of things. I don't always have something to repair or the time so we will see.
I like car audio repairs, cheers for showing.
No problem.
Ya nailed it, Kev!
Bet the owner will be happy about this, he even gets to see what was wrong and watched you fix it.
Thanks. I'm sure he will be happy.
Great to see more content. The lack of a heat transfer medium between the chip and heatsink it's probably part of the reason of why if failed.
Most likely the case.
Trying to fix stock stereo without the hightech components you have. Loved the vid!
this video was about a few years ago....
but I enjoy watching it... so...
subscribing...? hmmmm....
why not....
😊
Great vids, I am getting back into electronics after a 25 + year hiatus, wow things have changed a lot !!! Pass through's , via's , tiny SMD's ETC> Even the test equipment has changed a lot.... I had a tube type scope, LOL, there were the solid state ones out , but mine was good...... I saw Carlson's probe he designed and it wowed me. Such a small item to find big problems LOL.... I guess i'll be making some home brew test equipment and looking on flea bay for some stuff also. My cousin owns a very popular radio station here in Eunice, La. His engineer and I are friends, so i'll see what he can come up with for a few things..... When I got out of the biz , I got out and sold everything I had, lot, stock and whiskey barrel...... I guess my first project is going to be the octopus board for checking component's on a scope...... I like that design.....I wasn't really into car radio's that much back then but you have inspired me to get into that area along with the TV'sand other things I'll be doing...... Catch ya in future videos down the road my friend....
You're a professional installer, we will be at SEMA Thank you for the content
NICE WORK. Enjoying the channel. Glad to see you making more content.
Thanks. Feels good to make more content.
Keep the good content coming Kev 👍👍👍
Thanks and I hope to.
I still plan on having you fix my Alpine 1505 if you'd still be willing too. Thanks again
Awesome job mate big thumbs up 👍
Hi bro what about CD RECEIVER CDE-133EBT
I really needed to see this. I have an Alpine which looks pretty much like this one and, although is presenting no failures, it's getting too hot. I think I just saw why.
I'll take a look on it and let you know if I found something weird.
Thanks.
Hi.Nice easy fix.how about some in depth videos with units that have lock codes and solutions to those .programming of eprom chips etc
Great job Kev! I wonder if the lack of heat sink compound led to this failure?
Thanks, And It is possible.
Really cool to see how you approach and do a repair!
I learned that my intermittent off on issue with my Alpine cda 7965 tuner/cd head unit is something other than constant power, because it comes back right where it left off, memory intact. But now is it faulty power on the red lead outside or within the unit?
It is very bump sensitive for losing power.
Pushing up under the unit from a cubby compartment usually gets it to start.
It seldom powers up just with the ignition.
I have noticed also the unit gets warmer than I think it should.
The 5a fuse external was blown on the yellow wire, but somehow was still doing the same behavior?
Maybe there is some short internal?
This thing is so clean sounding and the fm/preamp section maybe hard to find these days?
From your video I have a bit more understanding of where power comes in, and that it might be ok ish to open it up…
I will check the red wire further external 1st for possible issues.
If you have any other ideas based on what I’ve mentioned, I would be happy to hear!
as with all BTL amps you should have half supply voltage on the outputs. so 6V. and it doesnt affect speakers at all because both + and - sit at 6V and not one at +V and another at 0, allowing current to flow
Wow a real video thanks !
great job friend, one question I have an stereo that reboots every 4 minutes do you know what can I do to fix it or review
Nice repair👍
Thanks
Can you share with me the print of the chips that are most visibles? i'm searching for the DSP chip this HU has.
Great tutorials
Great job!
Thanks man.
This is an old video, but could you possible give me an idea/direction on a late 90's Pioneer? It has a pre-amp RCA channel that is about half the volume of the others and it very flat, it sounds like AM radio. It also pops every time I plug it in while the radio is on. The other channels do not do that.
Nice repair
Thanks
Thanks for your video. I have a question; I have two CDE-175BT units in two cars. Both headunits have an intermittent problem where the USB flashdrives occasionally cuts out. I pull the flashdrives and re-insert them, and most of the time the headunit will re-establish the connection, sometimes it takes a few tries... I have wiped the flashdrive, re-formatted(FAT 32) and re-installed the media(iTunes files vis Export for iTunes) and the problem persists. It also happens when I have my iPhone plugged into the USB port, so I'm pretty sure it's the faceplate/headunit, not the flashdrives or iPhone. Alpine has not been helpful, and Crutchfield tried to help to no avail other than telling me to reset the unit. My hunch is that it's a physical connector in the receptacle that is the cause, but that's just a layman's guess... Do you have an objective prognostication as to what the problems might be?
Good night friend, sorry I have a stereo Alpine mod CDE-143BT, can you help me with the audio circuit? It burned out and I have no way of seeing the number of circuits ...
Can you do a tutorial on a alpine dva-9861ji?... Having issues with the radio tuner
Excellent, Kev! :-)
Thanks
Thank you
have you ever rebuilt a 80s factory radio?
Where can we send you our headunits for repairs. I have a couple that need help. Thanks
Do you have repair shop I can send my Alpine CDE-102 with the same issue?
Can you repair my Becker be1692? Thanks. Won’t power up at all.
I have Vw Passat 2013 and only the little tweeter speakers work but not the speakers on the door. Could be still a head unit issue ?
I seem to be having the same issue on my 93 ford stereo. Do you have a shop or take customers?
I notice there is no Fan, Do you think my 149BT needs the fan if not using the internal amp? Or could I disable it. I can hear it when the music is off.
Hello, I see that you are quite an expert in electronics. I would like to ask you a favor if you can help me. I have an Alpine ERA g320. I bought a used one where the control unit did not have a 13 pin connector. I bought a new connector but I don't have a wiring plan. Do you have any idea how to get the connector wiring diagram?
Thank you and best regards!
Marko
Hi. I have hooked up wrong wire into my radio and a smoke comes out the unit. I found smd T4 diode blowing. Replace it but still no power. What else should I look at? Thank you
I have a 19 harley boom gts radio that is making a solid tone noise with volume all the way down. Any ideas? And can you make repairs?
Do you know which head unit is compatible with Alpine CDA 117? Mine was removed and only works on RCA.
Hi any repair videos on Alpine cda-117 ji no output Usb not working
I have Toyota head unit which stuck in boot loop. There is no obvious burning sign or default parts. How to test IC like yours with multimeter? There is no label on the IC.
How to know the stereo pins 12v/ ignition and gnd pins if I don't have wiring socket and the is no schematic?
hello. can you answer to several question. I have a alpine cde-w265 ebt it is the 2 din version of CDE-164BT. that is STPA002 inside. when using this head unit i have a proplem: turning volume up to 20 it has not distortion, after 20 it`s starts cliping. is it normal for this heads? i try usb and aux inputs. and when i enhance power supply voltage from 12,5 to 14,4 distortions starts from 21 position of volume. have you check your head unit with oscilloscope after repairing? is it the same for your head unit?
stpa002 has cliiping detection that CD-DIAG pin sent signal to audio processor when clipping occur.
just check if CD-DiAG has pulled down at the same time when you feel clipping.
Hi, Can I enlist your services to diag my radio?
Please how do I repair if positive able touch earth and stereo cannot power?
nice
What happened to Alpine? There was nothing wrong with the black and lime green theme that was iconic to them... Having red or blue backlighting is terrible! It's just not Alpine any more!
It was a great fix! I wonder if the missing thermal compound was the result of the amplifier IC failure? Or if it was something else?..
Pretty sure the green is an option along with red and blue
