When I was 12 I watched this movie and said "I'm gonna be Elle Woods you watch". I bleached my hair, got a law degree, and am now training to be barrister all cause of this movie. Iconic af❤

You mention that Elle is "not qualified" for Havard in the admissions scene. But I think it was the TH-camr LegalEagle that pointed out her LSAT score of 179 is basically a perfect score, which would make her amongst the brightest students in the USA for that year, she clearly attends a reputable college & her major in fashion would almost certainly be seen as a plus. The fashion industry is huge & employs plenty of lawyers, preferably ones with a background knowledge of the industry. IRL, Havard would bite Elle's hand off, even without the Ricky Martin video 😂.
21:05 it’s a little weird, but in the US law students are older than college/uni students (like 22+) so at least she’s not a literal teen

9:40 The thing is: she IS qualified! She had almost perfect grades (her lsat-scores where 179 out of 180 and she had a 4.0 gpa which I think is the highest you can get?) and to get into harvard law you don't need to have a major that has anything to do with law. New law students don't require prior knowledge of the topic and it's apparently not uncommon to have a background in other majors. + she has the whole "being involved in philantropy and being preseident of her sorority (leadership skills)" going on which is a nice bonus.
The only thing that doesn't meet the requirements of the real world is that you have to hand in a written essay, not a video one. But that would have been quite boring for a movie.
And while, yes, the scene has a very creepy undertone of "old men wanting pretty young woman", the whole point of this scene is to confront the stereotype of "overtly" feminine = incapable/not serious/unskilled. It lays the ground work for a lot of the rest of the movie because it shows how Elle is using her love of feminity to grow and gain skills. And she is admitted because of that - not in spite of it.
I feel like important lore to the legally blonde world is that warner BOUGHT his way into Harvard by being a nepo baby but Elle got like a 99/100 on an exam designed for academia

Never had anyone break up with me BUT I reckon a good breakup solution is… join a gym for a month, workout with a shake cup full of neat jack daniels every sesh.. and go ham. Eat then fall into a drunk coma… 1 month yul have a better body, rested & a month of no memories. I reckon it’s a plan 😭
My thing for dealing with a breakup is to hide in my room for a few weeks binge watching Grey Anatomy 🙃 then I go out clubbing a few times for the confidence boost and go back to normal😅

Trust me, you need to watch the musical version. The whole thing is on youtube for free (pro shot for MTV) and it's absolutely brilliant. It goes into things that the movie didn't really have time for, it builds up Emmett and Elle's relationship, and Vivian is given a proper redemption arc! I also prefer the Warner in the musical as he isn't a complete villain, he's a dick but he's more human. Also the songs are amazing and the sheer energy is astounding!

In actuality, other than the fact that the video essay was unprofessional, she could get into pretty much any law school with a 4.0 GPA and a 179 on the LSAT. Your major doesn't matter that much, and a 179 is a crazy god score, almost perfect.

As someone who grew up with my sisters forcing me to watch these films, I find it so funny how clueless Cam is going into them. I love that it took him over ten minutes to realise why it's called Legally Blonde 😭
I mean-- if anyone HAD tried to tell her he wasn't worth it and to just forget him, she would not have believed them. She would not have listened. She had to figure it out for herself.
Vivian started warming up to Elle because she was surprised and genuinely impressed by her integrity in refusing to give up the alibi. And you were right, there WAS something else that happens before that saga resolves.

Please do a legally blonde 2 review i wouldn’t say it’s as good as the first but it’s still enjoyable and they where making a third movie back in 2018 but with the writing strikes it was delayed but In may 2024 they announced that a tv show is in the works and will be released around 2025 apparently which is exicting for this franchise. It will be amazing to see a legally blonde 2 review xx

So, I love this film, I have watched it a million and ten times and one of the things that is epic is that her 2 best friends from the start continue to support her and they are her ride or dies until the end. For instance, compare with wild child where her ‘best friend’ steals her boyfriend and ghosts her - it’s just a really good message about actual female friendship

Senator and congress person are indeed politicians. We have both state and federal lvl senators and congresspeople. We also have the Supreme Court which are federal lvl judges who deal mostly with constitutional questions of law. They dictate whether something is constitutional or not.
Also, fraternities are weird! I’ve never been part of one, but frats are usually portrayed as drunk party houses with toxic relationships under the guise of sister and brotherhood loyalty lol. 🤷♀️
Also 179 is nearly a perfect score for the LSATs. It’s actually a pretty difficult test and many have to retake it multiple times.

The second Legally Blonde is pretty terrible. Just so you know. And I say that as someone who loved the first film.

Absolute favorite movie of mine and it holds up so well decades later!
Main take aways i got as a teenager:
1. Don’t let a guy decide your worth
2. Do whatever you want
3. And don’t be afraid to do it your way.
Elle was going to Harward to win backWarner aka please someone else. At Harward she suddenly started to wear all black to blend in more/ aka please the expectations of others. That is why the pink dress in the court room is so iconic. She is doing things now HER way and because she wants to - not for somebody else. Regardless of whether you like the “pink girly vibe” or not, it’s her personality and it doesn’t take away her intelligence or capability. So the main message of the movie is not to conform to fit in. I love that. I also love that the new guy wasn’t in focus of the storyline as that would have distracted from the main message of being your own unique person.
