    Hi Steve,
    just a small suggestion: Maybe it'd be better to use a spotted white for some of the tips, so that beginners can actually see what's going on.
    Cheers, keep up the good work

    Thanks for another great video. I'm getting back in to league snooker after 25 years off so am still very rusty.
    Since watching your videos, I'm increasingly finding myself hitting either a good positional shot or pot and thinking that I probably wouldn't have achieved that without the tips you're providing. Even quite often just missing the pot still but getting good position that I just wouldn't have got previously. Just need to work on not giving that great position to my opponents now 😂
    Cheers!

    Thank you. My problem is that I often do mistake 4 - the white ball rolling on - without wanting to. So is the answer to this to play a soft stun? Also, a more general question: if you have a hit a shot hard to get position, is there any way of lowering the chances of it rattling in the jaws beyond just being very accurate?

    Great tips Mike, but I would like to know why pro's seem to use stun run through? It seems like they have to hit the cue ball quite hard for little effect. Why not just hit the ball, as you demonstrated here, with little effort for the same effect?

Sometimes just 1 thing u say different to others showing the same thing, It's that 1 little detail they miss makes the difference to the whole shot. Even something as simple as bridge length. Do you teach your beginner students (if you have any) to look at the cueball or object ball when playing a shot?
    I ask this because I have always looked at the object ball but I recently saw a short where Stephen Hendry said he looks at the cueball, and so does Ronnie.
    I just assumed that everyone looked at the object ball.

    • @BartonSnooker
      @BartonSnooker  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It doesn't really matter that much. As long as you do plenty of aiming checks when you get down, what you look at exactly at the time of impact with the cue ball doesn't seem to matter.

  • @prakheragarwal92
    @prakheragarwal92 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Yet another great video Steve. While I am catching up again with covering all your videos from start, just wanted to get difference between a drag shot and a deep screw shot.
    Please confirm on below 2 points
    1. If I understand correctly, both shots are played at 6'o clock but with deep screw, more power and timing is needed. Still the aim at cue ball is exactly same as while playing a drag shot or deep screw. Yes/No ?
    2. Since the cue ball is not having any back spin and coming back with drag shot, isn't the drag shot similar to a stun shot EXCEPT you are not hitting just below the center but at 6'o clock. Please confirm whether we get different results with a stun/stun through shot and a drag shot while holding for black.
    Thanks and keep up the good work

    • @BartonSnooker
      @BartonSnooker  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes you are right in everything you say.
      You have to think about what the cue ball is doing once it makes contact with the object ball.
      If it's drag, it's no longer spinning back once it hits the object ball (even though you hit low).
      If it's screw, it is STILL spinning backwards when it hits the object ball.
      Cheers 🙂

    Another great video, thank you for the time and effort you put in! One question I have, is that at the 5:20 mark, where you demonstrate the central cue ball strike, how come it doesn’t cannon the central one of the three reds above the black? As in, my understanding was that the natural run of the ball would be at 90 degrees to the pot. Is it actually the case that the 90 degree rule is more for a stun, whereas the central cue ball strike goes slightly with the natural run? I appreciate you’re probably inundated with questions, but any help is appreciated! Thank you.

    • @BartonSnooker
      @BartonSnooker  10 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      You're right! 90 degrees is stun. Centre ball is generally more of a stun run through 👍

    I'm not a snooker player although I love the game. I'd say that's one of the most useful videos you've made, so interesting. Just a thought - the shot you described where the topspin on the cue ball doesn't have the desired effect after potting a red over the pocket; is that effect a bit like a car wheel getting stuck in mud and just spinning without generating any traction? I'm hopeless with these things so I may be completely wrong.

    • @claspuse3167
      @claspuse3167 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      The ball does have traction that's why it stops near the cushion because the cue ball still maintains the topspin even after hitting the cushion. In other words it has the effect of backspin coming off the cushion because the effect of topspin is reversed.
