George isn't a good director when it comes to directing people in the scene.
I've worked with directors in community theater that get on stage with me, express how the character is feeling, re-enact it, then ask me to try again.

He needs to be confident without being too arrogant.

He needs to be family oriented and good with kids, but not too good with kids, like, in a creepy clown way.
He needs to be intelligent, or at the very least, money smart, so he can know how to invest for retirement, the kids college fund, and our funeral expenses.
He can have his friends and do things with them, but only when it's convenient for me.
He needs to care about me, but not be too controlling. You know, sometimes I just wanna go out and have fun with the girls and he needs to be okay with that, and not, like, be all hey where ya goi--"

Have Sam be Dooku,an ex-jedi who leaves his training to enjoy the luxuries of his fortune while also craving entertaining fights, hence why Sidious would recruit him to become his new apprentice. Then make Christopher Lee be Windu, the wise Jedi Master who wish's not to fight or wage war,and also trying to end his fights through negations. I just thought of a better version of the Anakin/Padme subplot. Firstly, let's say that Anakin is now a nervous, wide-eyed pretty boy who's awkward but earnest, and that Padme is a proud, cynical, impersonal, and prickly noblewoman who's 100% focused on her work while barely having any personal connections with other people (IE, she's lonely and detached, and she feels like her attempts to do right are pointless). Let's say first prequel doesn't exist and they hadn't previously met.
The movie opens on OW giving Anakin some fatherly encouragement while dropping him off at his first major assignment as a rookie: accompany this senator lady on a minor diplomatic trip to a distant world. The ship's engine fails en route and it crashes on a remote frontier planet full of bandits and mean-ass aliens, so Anakin and the senator have to cross the wastes to reach the nearest settlement (which is later revealed to be a secret separatist fortress, which had used some sci-fi EMP ray cannon thingy to disable the ship in the hope of capturing the senator for ransom or at least killing her in the crash). At first Anakin would be impersonal towards her, as the two just met and he feels he's got a job to focus on. As the two of them overcome various dangers, they'd bond through shared hardship and learn more about each other (IE, Padme reveals she'd been in the service after she glacks a few bandits by nabbing one of their rifles, Anakin talks about his poor, anonymous upbringing, the two of them finding out they have similar ideals about wanting to make the galaxy a better place, even though she's an elite politician and he's a humble warrior-monk, etc). Eventually there'd be the twist that it's a separatist base and they'd be captured and detained there by the nefarious Christopher Lee character, who was leading the operation from the beginning. There'd be a climatic action sequence where A. uses his nascent force ability to escape his cell, whereupon him and P. battle their way through the separatist goons (during which P. finds the comms room and sends out a distress signal) until they face Christopher Lee himself. The evil old master would get nicked by Anakin (who's now more skilled at fighting after the events of the film), but he'd chop off the young man's right hand and flee the base just before OW and the Republic's rescue expedition can arrive. As P. cradles a scared, panicking A. after having bandaged his injury, she smooches him and he reciprocates, indicating she cares about him (IE, he protected her previously and now she's protecting him).
Padme's character development is that she came out of her shell and connected with another human being while reaffirming that there are things worth fighting for even if the galaxy is a horrible place. Anakin's character development is that he's now much more mature and experienced, but he's also been traumatized by war in a way that will eventually harden his heart and turn him into Scary Helmet Man (IE, he initially wants to make the galaxy a nice and cheerful place, but eventually all he'll feel is a cold desire to restore "order" at any cost). Padme's idealism goes up while Anakin's decreases.
Wouldn't it have been so much more gratifying to see two engaging characters develop over the course of a long, arduous journey so that their romance at the end feels earned and believable?

It's weird that back in 1997, George Lucas kept bitching about Titanic that year. Fast forward to 2019, The Rise of Skywalker took four pages from Titanic: forced sporadic relationship, the man sacrifices himself to save the woman, when a random stranger asks the woman's name, she takes deceased guy's family name, and both are sinking franchises. I don't know if that's funny in a morbid kind of way, or sad.

What did Yoda say to Luke about the Dark Side again?
Luke: Is the Dark Side stronger?
Yoda: No. Quicker. Easier, more seductive.
Cut to the Prequels where one Lord of the Sith is able to cloud the minds of thousands of Jedi including Yoda to be able to hide in plain sight. Maybe want to rethink about that Yoda, or hell even Lucas. I'd be okay with this idea if Lucas gave a reason why Palpatine is powerful enough to cloud the minds of all the Jedi. In the new EU it's established that Palpatine uses the power of an ancient Sith shrine underneth the Jedi Temple to cloud their minds. But as Plinkett once said: ''What matters is the movie.'' And since this isn't in the movie nor mentioned it doesn't count.

Could have just said that they had a brief fling that produced a child. Could have still gotten away with a PG rating by fading out with a kissing scene against a bedroom. That way Luke and Leia would still be born, Anakin would be expelled from the Jedi order as a result and wants revenge as a result. Didn’t need to bring love into it.

I honest to god don't know why Mace Windu is so popular among fans. I mean seriously what the fuck did he actually do in these movies? Sit around in chairs half the time, giving boring emotionless empty dialogue while giving a performance where it comes off that he doesn't want to be there. Hell even when he got into action sequences pretty much gave the same type of performance as his talking scenes, bored and lifeless. It's honest to god criminal in how much George wasted the talents of people like Jackson and Christopher Lee within these films. But then again you could say that for the entire cast apart from Ian McDiamird who at the very least was deliciously hamming it up.
