kayskidf1 Very true. I’ve recently googled a wallpaper of Kobe, then I stumbled on so many pics of him always with his daughter Gigi. You can see snapshots of her always looking like she was so focused on her dads every word while they watched ball games together, looked like Kobe was pointing out aspects of the game. Seeing their bond makes me feel that if this tragedy was Kobe’s unfortunate time to go, Gigi had to go with him. Armando Ortiz Yup. But if it wasn’t for Phil Jackson arriving in that 4th year they may have taken longer to win his first. And Shaq was friggin’ dominant in that finals.
I think the best part of this video is the fact that we now know that Kobe's work ethics in basketball is what propelled him past this level to become the 5 time NBA Champion he became. At the time of viewing this live, you could have fairly assumed Kobe was just a talented player, but to have seen his NBA Career, his family, his drive for life...makes this video awesome.
This death has to be the one to impact the most people in Sports circles. Kobe's Philanthropy was not known or announced by the news media. Now we all know the truth, this man gave of his time and finances to make this world a better place for young women. I am so thankful to God for having witnessed this myself. Kobe's legacy will live on. He was wise beyond his years, his work here with us was done, his maker needed him now, rest in peace young man.
I agree! His work is done here and god obviously called for him gianna and the others! They don't have anything to worry about now! We do tho! We have to worry everyday until we are dead! That sucks!!
The people bringing up his pass mistakes are EVIL. He made one mistake and learned from it never to make another one. Instead he used that mistake and grew from it, by giving back to the community, never disrespecting his wife and kids and family and fans again. He never boast about his philanthropic work, he let his actions speaks for itself that's why he was forgiven and began a great role models to his wife children and family. He grew up from his mistakes unlike so many others, for instead just naming one, R Kelly and so many other famous people. Kobe focus on God, he went to church a devout Catholic with his daughter and did communion before he got on that helicopter. Not taking away from the victim, but has she done anything good to help other women of rape or assaults? What she did was stop all communications with authorities Thats why his case was dropped, instead she went to civil court to get millions, did she even donated to women in distress. She is no one to look up to Im actually ashamed of her actions as a woman of an assaults. It makes me wonder if it really happen. IMO. She sold out took millions and did nothing. He made one mistake and spend the rest of his life righting his WRONG. So for all you perfect people bringing up this man's one mistake he's spend his short life righting. You guys are God, God has forgiving him because that's what my God is a forgiving person. Unlike you people bringing up something this young man did 17 years ago. He made of for by doing right by his fan his wife especially his girls and God. With that REST IN PEACE TO HIM HIS DAUGHTER AND THE SEVEN OTHER VICTIMS TAKEN SO SOON. And he was no thug. He made a mistake, he was actually quite intelligent, 1100 on his sat spoke fluent Italian and French. Much respect
@@paulabarry7620 Your remarks are really heart stirring, God does not hold our mistakes and sins against us, if we repent of them he forgives us everything. It's funny when you hear the announcers talk about what Kobe might do with his future. Saying how they don't think it's a good idea at all for him to skip college and go straight to the pros. He really made these announcers eat their words. Being a Lakers fan, I'm so lucky to have witnessed his amazing career. Some of the most exciting basketball I've ever seen, Kobe taking the Lake Show to several championships. 💜💛💜💛
Yeah for real. I'd love to see all of these players talk about that game from then to now and how his career-death impacted them. That would be dope to watch. RIP KOBE & GIANNA. 🙏🙏🚁🚁
".....the most unselfish 52 points by Billy Owens;" undoubtedly the commentator didn't know/understand nor checked the record to comprehend that to "SCORE" that many points in a high school game is the EPITOME of the word "SELFISH !!" And yes; the blatant animus by those "haters" that followed KOBE,most definitely started in high school and followed him to his untimely and most unfortunate demise and continues thereafter. To be a "WINNER" requires one to focus ,lock-in/harness as much drive/determination and personal talent as needed to deliver victory; especially in/on a team that lacks quality players and coaching. KOBE was never a selfish player and for those to say he was at any point in his life; do not know what it takes to contribute to achieve that signature win that makes one and one's teammates victorious and ultimately -CHAMPION(s)! R.I.P. MAMBA !!!!
Great, great, upload. A gem no doubt about it. Bring back so many memories of the 90s atmosphere. Kobe easily looks like the best player on the floor. What a way to move on to the NBA by winning a state championship for his school and teammates. RIP Kobe and Gianna! Thanks for the memories!
Paul McKenna - At the time of this game (1996)....Billy Owens was the benchmark. He won 4 PA state championships / Syracuse star / and good NBA career. Kobe obviously left Owens in the dust but it was hard to imagine at this time Kobe would do that with such ease.
Most people don't know who Ronnie Fields is, but I assure you he was the best there was in HS ball. Who knows what he would have done in the pros. Not sure I could tell from this game what was to come.
Thank you Cory for posting this exciting game and the transitional moment of a young man from high school hero to a professional sports legend. Our Kobe has passed away, but Mamba will live forever!!!!
Lol you aren't kidding. The way the announcer tried to justify the foul call at 58:00 tells you everything you need to know. There were several other obvious instances, but that one was by far the most annoying. One of the cleanest blocks you will ever see. Starts off by saying the kid got his arm. Replay then shows it was obviously all ball, and he quickly changes up and says there was lower body contact. Stop it lol.
@@NJ187 There was some lower body contact. Maybe you're the one just being a homer of whatever team Kobe plays for? I'm actually glad Kobe got to end his high school career w/ a State Championship, and was pulling for him and his team in this game, but let's be nice to the less talented who try so hard too.
@@maryakopyan3224 Never said a thing about the players in the game. All I did was state that the announcer had a hard on for Erie. That foul should never have been called. The kid literally jumped away from the driving player, and still came up with the block. It was a great defensive effort that got shit on by a blown call, and then you have to listen to the announcers nonsense.
Wow!! Good thing I was thinking about Kobe because it lead me to this vid!! The boy was talented! Even as a kid you can tell he was a leader!! They way he hugged ppl...you can tell he appreciated the love! Rest In Peace brother! Thanks...glad I can say I lived in the time of Kobe. Enjoy! :)
As a kid from Erie, my grandpa went to Prep, this was the first basketball game I ever watched in my life in 2001, he had it taped on VHS. I was like 5 lmao. Prep had to triple team him all game just to hold him to under 20. Wild

Fantastic historical video and announcing, thank you ! Love the raw capture of a one of the greatest athletes of all time at such a young age. Petty comments about meaningless points about the teams quality, announcing flaws etc is pathetic considering the "capture of great youthfull moments of an American Hero". RIP Kobe.
This was the year I met Kobe. I met him in December 1996. It's so crazy that he is no longer alive but all these videos and photos just brings back memories of his greatness.
kobe even at his high school days he shows already his mamba mentality no doubt his the 3rd scoring of all times 4 MVP all-star in 18 all-star appearances, season MVP 2x finals mvp..
@ 57:40, that was a clean block. I like how the commentator changed his explanation of the foul explicitly during the replay when he realized it was clean. he said the foul was "down below" because that part of the kid's body was out of the shot.
Loving this one thanks for sharing very important information giving thanks blessed love to all knowledge is power hopefully everyone pays attention keep up the good work 🙏🙏🙏🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲💪💪💪

He won in HS, 3 Championship in college, 6 in the NBA. 6 time Most Valuable Player. Want me to go on?

Crazy how 4 years after this he won a championship 💜💛rip Kobe
Armando Ortiz
Yup.
Andrew Crockett his drive for life, as you put it set him apart. Truly inspiring.
Amen to this
This is f-ing GOLD!! Thank you.
It is known. The guy settled out of court for MILLIONS because he raped someone. You idiot fans may suck him off, but that doesn't change what he did.
😭your comments makes me cry. I miss him so much. 🤜🤛🏾
The problem is as we see here, only man will not forgive, man will constantly remind us of the wrong we did. I do not respond to these silly ignorant commentsm they have no merit whatsoever. Kobe is at rest with his God, may God have mercy on us who remain, especially the ignorant ones.
Damn the improvement Kobe’s went through from the time this game was filmed. A true legend
God Bless you Kobe and your whole family..... and all the other families..... GOD BLESS
Watching Kobe jump the chairs and hug his father after the game @ 1:16:16. 😥😥 What Joe must be feeling now. His boy is gone.

Great he ran to his Dad, but if you notice he went to hug his Dad instead of getting in line to shake hands with his opponents w the rest of the team!! Start of his selfish faze? Aside from that, he was a great player and a great Dad, May he RIP
Didn't he quit talking to his parents?
I came here to watch where Kobe started his supreme love and skills for basketball.
Me too I'm so glad I'm able to watch it

i can't imagine the pain his wife is going through. not just he was famous, but he was a good dad how hard is that to find? most guys run when there are 3 little girls as part of a relationship package, . kobe was a good friend - many on that helicopter were family friends of the bryants - so there is that loss also for mrs bryant..
this happened so suddenly , it's like the air was sucked out of the room. RIP he will become THE icon of the lakers in the future..
Some women run away also
What does being “famous” have to do with anything?

Rest in piece Kobe💛💜I’m from Erie so this is definitely something to cool to see from the goat himself
The goat from your perspective not worldwide perspective. Definitely in top 5 below Wilt, Kareem, MJ.... Rest in the heavens Kobe and long live a legend.
This reminds me how fun high school basketball was..those were some fun times! Cool to see Kobe playing in high school too! So many great memories watching Kobe play RIP Mamba!
Middle school was my basketball heyday lol
@1:16:17 Kobe runs straight to his father. So sad that things were a bit rocky when Kobe passed 😢
Can you imagine if kobe getting old and gigi his daughter also get a Champion in high school like this I'm sure she also run to her father hug and kiss but it will never happen I can't move on of there deaths😔😔😔

My dad followed his hs career religiously. This brings back memories.
Jennifer Prince well said
That's why the Mamba mentality rules. Just keep persevering.
I would like to see a where are they now for everyone playing. Just to listen to them talk about Kobe and that game. How it meant to them then vs now.
Yeah for real. I'd love to see all of these players talk about that game from then to now and how his career-death impacted them. That would be dope to watch. RIP KOBE & GIANNA. 🙏🙏🚁🚁

I´m still thinking about Kobe, his wife and their girls every minute of every day.
Kobe! I can’t even deal with this, I’m obsessed every day with Kobe videos. I try to get a new nugget every day on the investigation.
Announcer: "Kobe Bryant doesn't have the maturity of Billy Owens at this point"-- that didn't age well. RIP Kobe
BILLY OWEN WHO? FOH
It aged fine if you know about Billy Owens.
R.I.P. MAMBA !!!!
He wasn’t lying at that time. Guess you too young to know Billy Owens
@Frank Mgtow i
Great, great, upload. A gem no doubt about it. Bring back so many memories of the 90s atmosphere. Kobe easily looks like the best player on the floor. What a way to move on to the NBA by winning a state championship for his school and teammates. RIP Kobe and Gianna! Thanks for the memories!
Billy Owens : All Pennsylvania HS Player
Kobe : Hold my 5 Rings , and my HOF Bust
Rest in Power Mamba !
Paul McKenna - At the time of this game (1996)....Billy Owens was the benchmark. He won 4 PA state championships / Syracuse star / and good NBA career. Kobe obviously left Owens in the dust but it was hard to imagine at this time Kobe would do that with such ease.

mad respect. they made an emoji after Kobe > 🐐
These two announcers are haters big time got to be Cathedral Prep homers.
It's a geography thing. LM = Philly suburb. Erie Cathedral Not Philly.
Just How it is in PA. Til this day still. Smh
Kobe was just different... BACK WHEN WE TOOK PRIDE IN PLAYING DEFENSE💯

Fantastic historical video and announcing, thank you ! Love the raw capture of a one of the greatest athletes of all time at such a young age. Petty comments about meaningless points about the teams quality, announcing flaws etc is pathetic considering the "capture of great youthfull moments of an American Hero". RIP Kobe.
Damn, Kobe has the wrist band and the knee brace on his calf just like Jordan. His hero.

@ 57:40, that was a clean block. I like how the commentator changed his explanation of the foul explicitly during the replay when he realized it was clean. he said the foul was "down below" because that part of the kid's body was out of the shot.

Unreal Kobe gone to soon. God bless his Wife and kids. K Roc 🏀🏀🏀💯
Now I see where Kobe got his selfishness. He played with bad teammates for too long.
I wouldn’t call it selfishness
Facts
Most high school prodigies like Kobe play with seemingly subpar teammates by comparison. Look at Zion Williamson's team at Spartanburg Day School.
Kobes teammates were terrible, like below average terrible... kobe was doubled without the ball and tripled with the ball. But his teammates just cant capitalized on anything.
