finally someone talked about it, I honestly don't understand people, lately everyone is hating everything these days, no one has that childish freedom to enjoy a movie anymore! I hate seeing reviews before seeing a film, I prefer to watch it and have a balanced opinion. The criticisms made by random and inexperienced people on these sites are really ruining everything.
I've seen movies with high ratings but suck @$$ and I've seen movies with low ratings but are actually pretty good, so yeah I don't listen to ratings anymore.
I don't think it's necessarily wrong to check something like Rotten Tomatoes to get a vibe for the general consensus when you don't want to waste your money, but unless something is almost universally acclaimed or panned, i don't think it's partkcularly useful, nor is the way films are judged. One person's 65 is another person's 22. Ot's completely relative, a quantitative judgment for a qualitative experience. All anybody should want to know are the answers to these questions. "should I see it in theaters?" "Should I see it at a discount?" "Should I skip the theater and rent or stream it later?" "Should I just skip it altogether?"
I agree, rating aggregator sites are good for just getting a rough idea of the quality of the movie. But like you and I both said, it's a qualitative experience that is completely personal so it's better to just watch the trailer and judge that way imo
Since Disney and DC are crapping product that smells worse then my diarea AND since price of tickets when up. CRITICS ARE ESSENTIAL. I never ever ever go see a movie without watching TH-cam reviews now. And movies are NOT art, they are escapism. Just like a theme park, or a hockey game. BIG DIFFERENCE.
Art can be escapism as well. It's purely subjective, but you can't say that movies aren't like a piece of art that is meticulously crafted. A ton of hours and effort go into filmmaking. I get your point about it being essential because you don't want to go to the cinema to see a shit movie. But then just look at the cast, director and trailer. Most of the time that'll give you a good idea of if it's gonna be good or not ;)
What an insult to a brilliant medium. Sure, you can treat movies as simple basic escapism to YOU, but that doesn't mean that it isn't art. Many people exclusively read romance novels all the time as a form of escapism, does that make books not art? Some people go to art galleries just to look at pretty pictures and escape into those scenes, does that make ART not art? I'm sorry, but comparing the long and incredible history of film to roller coasters of all things is such an insult to every person who's ever crafted great stories and worked to put them into a visual medium. Your inability to appreciate art and demand nothing of Hollywood but brainless sludge says nothing of whether a whole medium is art or not.
@@thecrispymaster Art is ONLY in fringe movies for art obsessed people. (less then 10% movie goers) In the past movie movie producers would understand this FACT, and make small budget movies to cater their artistic needs. But now Hollywood is 100% full on crazies that want to replace escapism (where made 95% of it's money) with a load of niche stuff 90% of people don't care one second. And when we don't watch those niche, art/DEI obsessed movies, they ask us. WHYYYYYYYYYYY and cry. Talk about people living in a dream, and having totalitarian dreams of forcing it on 90% of the population who does not care.
I randomly found your channel on my homepage. I thought the title and thumbnail were intriguing and I clicked on the vid. I was shocked when I saw that you only had 60 subs and 12 videos. As someone who is just starting a youtube channel seeing your channel inspires me knowing that good content is not going unnoticed. keep up the good work and I hope to see more videos from you.

this is why your channel is so necessary, loving the discussions and insight on what went into a movie rather than flat out saying if it’s good or bad. keep it up migs ❤
Like I said, I think it's important to pay more attention to the cast, trailer, and story and make your own judgment based on that :) it's hard to not be tempted to take the easy way out, but it's much more enriching to do it this way, trust me!
There's also a lot of great animated movies that have a rotten rating on the website. Its just so sad actually. Examples of these are A Goofy Movie (1995), Peter Pan 2: Return to Neverland (2002) and Brother Bear (2003). Those are great 2D films with such an amazing soundtracks and great endings and yet several critics are so brutal to them unfortunately. 😢😢
@@miguelmunuera2601 Yeah i gree with you on that one i'm guessing that the problem in todays time is very much on how Top critics are dominating both the film industry and the social media in general. Could not agree more. I think it's good only to get a general idea of the quality of a movie, because more often than not higher rated movies on there are of higher quality, but there are always exceptions, so important to do your own due diligence and check IMDb, letterboxd, cast and trailer
On critic side or on the audience side? Because the critic side might have a lower rating for Joker than the other 2, but Joker might have a lot of 8 or 9/10 reviews while the other 2 might be filled with 6/10 reviews, since that's the minimum for a review score to count as fresh.
