This i honestly really enjoy. as much as my instincts scream "more trap centric decks" to develop an all new support line, the few unique cards you made here would be absolutely beautiful for the scorpions.
I like this! The Dark Scorpions were always an archetype I wished were better, specially seeing how Meanae's effects is very unique (for the time period at least) in that it could search for and allow you to constantly reuse not just monsters, but their support cards. - Which I don't doubt could very easily cause issues if the archetype continued. Even if they were never gonna be a competitive archetype, they get way too easily walled by common casual cards of the time period. High stat monsters, Spirit Reaper, Spirit Barrier, Tornado Wall exc. I never understood why Gorg was the way he was. The pack he was in, also had Archfiend Soldier as a basic rare, and Gagagigo as a common! So Level 4 monsters with >1800 ATK were no longer rare enough to infrequently see and the lack of piercing damage meant you'd hardly ever see his effect since he'd be the most likely one you'd use to attack face downs.
A field spell with the following effects would be great: 1 additional normal summon of a dark scorpion once per turn and each turn 1 dark scorpion monster can attack your opponent directly. Also if a dark scorpion inflicts battle damage, add a dark scorpion from deck to hand or special summon a scorpion from hand
Yeah. Revamping them with either alternative upgraded forms. Maybe a revival of the dark scorpians where the dark scorpians, older and wiser, all bringing their newfound skills to bear to secure a win with a new strategy. Maybe even a revamp of the dark scorpian burglers as a xyz monster that overlays dark scorpians to gain extra effects and get stronger... maybe each grants an extra battle phase effects, extra attacks, or other beneficial effects. Maybe triggering the other effect of each scorpian as a bonus.
Y'know... Slap a once per turn on that field spell and that would be a huge boon to the Dark Scorpions, I dig it! I wonder why Konami just didn't give these guys more support that they oh so desperately need
Since uploading this, I've been shocked how many people still have love for the Scorpions. Really can't think of any other archetype with this big a gap between popularity and playability.
Great idea with the Baron storyline! I think I would go even further - if we're including customs, then some of the original cards could use an edit. Ex. Bump Gorg to 2100 ish attack; get rid of Combination's damage reduction so that it actually wins the game; and make Burglars a Fusion monster with an actually good effect. I'm thinking like: - Requires 2+ Dark Scorpion monsters (or Don Zaloog) - Its ATK becomes 800 x number of materials, so takes 3 to be a big threat - If destroyed, Special Summon 1 of its materials from the GY (or just 1 non-Fusion scorpion) - And when it deals damage, you can choose either: Mill 2 cards times the number of materials; or some high impact effect, ex. steal a card from the opponent's hand. Obviously this version of Burglars is a bomb for its time, but I actually don't think it's overpowered (still easily stopped by removal or like, Gravity Bind). And probably still has less text than Relinquished lol.

Thank you! Totally retraining an archetype can be fun, but there's nothing like additions that allow you to play the originals!
i love this idea Dark scorpion needs some more support already
Do you think there's enough food in the old lore to pretend that UDE intended to make a Sanwitch and Hungry Burger Structure Deck called Witches Brew?

Trap dustshoot would be an awesome inclusion due to how expensive that card is for a common these days. It's only been printed twice unfortunately.

Love the idea of 'replacing' the Dark Scorpions' on-hit effects with something that directly supports the archetype!

Very cool idea
A true Summoned Skull structure deck would be nice as well as the Giant Soldiers.
Very interesting ideas O.O
