I bought and read your book and found it to be quite inspiring. I only wished that I’d started it at 14 or so like you did rather than 18-19. Failed Calc 2 last semester, but this year I was able to earn enough money to retake it and take differential equations and multivariable. It really is a journey, I failed in 7th grade too. It doesn’t matter how many times you get knocked down, all that matters is if you keep going. Godspeed Mr. Cromwell.
Thank you, and thank you for your kind words as well! And absolutely that is the right attitude! Do NOT be discouraged. Things that do not challenge you are not worth it anyway. For me, the thrill of Math is precisely the challenge behind it! Math is not about "Tricks" or being "clever", but rather about true understanding. Therein lies the challenge for us all.
I am from Germany and I didnt really have any problems in maths and similar subjects in school, but I liked to watch different kinds of educational and informational videos on youtube (and I still am) and I noticed that there is so much free stuff to learn with fun and no stress and no pressure, and I felt like I was learning in lightspeed in that way, but barely anything was done in school, and it was still worse quality... especially in maths the sudents liked to watch quick youtube videos to understand maths, but get confused by the teacher in the classroom when he tries to explain the same thing over and over... There is so much wrong with the modern education system. I wish there would be atleast less pressure on the students. I dont like that every subject and every interaction in school is evaluated by grades and the students stop learning to widen their horizon and have fun, but to get good grades and forgeting it right afterwards... why the heck does art or sports or music need to be graded in the earliest years? let the studesnt have a good time and release the stress atleast in those subjects in early years for gods sake... And then they have no space for aweful maths lessons. btw I like that you use a lamp like that.
