I love the explanation behind the Vickers wreck. How Dale felt about it is how I felt about it. Vickers needed a reality check and I'm glad Dale was the one to give it to him.
I do not blame Dale Jr for not apologizing to Vickers. It reminds me something his dad Dale Sr once said “ If you ever racing an a man tries to cut you off you stand your ground, sometimes it might turn out bad but sometimes you win races to “
Jr’s comment about thinking his fans were disappointed in him wrecking Vickers is the exact reason most of us were often disappointed with him sometimes. We were more disappointed that he didn’t take these actions more often. There were plenty of times Jr. allowed other drivers to push him around when he should have laid the hammer to them.
I feel that if senior had never died. We would have seen a different side of jr's driving. DEI would still be a team with a couple of championships and Jr leading the way.
You could never be too wordy. In my retirement years I enjoy your description’s and thoughtfulness in your both questions and answers. Do not underestimate the craving of your history content. You are by far the greatest historian and keeper of nascar history. I for one am grateful for your service to us older fans. Thanks Dale.
It's not often you hear a driver talk about life on the track the way Jr does at 10:27. So true. You have decisions to make that have future repercussions. I've spent plenty of money on repairing my equipment because you have to set the tone for what you will or wont put up with or you will be driven over by everyone. Love the honesty and the sharing of what you have to think about behind the wheel for those that haven't been fortunate enough to mix it up on a racetrack.
I died when Jr said “what do you want me to do? Lift and get behind you? That’s not how racing works” 😂😂 but even before when you said some about a moment your fans were disappointed or whatever, the first thing that came to mind was the incident you had with the red bull car, and then you said it! Man I wish I could relive the #8 bud days.
I think it’s funny that you mentioned in this podcast about being in the booth with the possibility of drivers holding grudges on you because of what you’ve said on air, because in that Daytona 500 wreck with Vickers, DW and Larry Mac immediately hammered you for that move on air, and I’ve always felt as though that had a huge influence on everyone’s perception of what happened there and your reputation immediately after that race.
Can we get a behind the scenes view of what it takes to prep for a race. What the drivers are doing during the week. What the team is doing during the week. How the cars are being built/prepped. The time it takes to put all the teams and personnel travel plans in place. Things like this would be great. We get to hear some of it, but to see it all put together in a timeline would be fascinating.
I follow a driver that’s new to working for Dale’s JrMoterspports Hauler. I’ll have to double ck his name- (Jax) co-driver on Josh’s hauler. Great sense of humor! Jr would be proud!
I grew up in Ontario Canada watching racing with my stepdad, not because I really wanted to, but that is what he did. In doing so, I grew up during the early eighties watching the crazy races as well as watching you grow up in that world. My first experience watching racing on tv was watching the yellow and blue wrangler #2 then a real first race live was Oswego NY and the supermodifieds. I was 11. Why do I watch your show? You have earned my respect and I enjoy the way you tell the story, more truthful with context and a lot of hands on experience which gives you the unique perspective of an actual competitor. I grew up with you whether you or I like it or not. Lol So I say this Dale, Thanks a lot man, your family and your life was there for me to watch and learn from and you are still teaching me about great Nascar related history. I would love to see how honest you and others would be about cheating and who may have lost out on a great racing career due to it. I wonder what cars were actually legit and amazing but never made it due to the cost of cheaters that got away with it. What changes would you make to stop money from saving a cheating team? If the penalty was a year suspension for every major infraction, would that reduce the chance for corruption?. I get a bit frustrated growing older and watching all the truths come out about cheating in all the sports I watched on tv. Is it the tv money that makes people cheat, seems like the majorly sponsored tv events are the worst. Tour de France, Nascar, Olympics just to say a few. I am a loser who decided cheating was morally wrong and unethical, but I see I was taught wrong. I should have been a cheater so as to give the rest of my family a better future maybe. Seems like the best cheaters have a great retirement package. Is there a Lance Armstrong of Nascar?

Man, coming into NASCAR, I can't tell you how deeply fucking WEIRD takes like these are. I'm loving the racing but man y'all have a bunch of weirdos on the sidelines.
Damn I love the honesty here. That moment at Daytona I loved. No BS. Dale going for it all and for all the right reasons. Vickers was the dumb one in that scenario
Vickers went to block and he did it too late. But Jr. knowingly making the decision to wreck vickers in front of the whole field was the problem. Yes, Jr didn't know for certain that Vickers was going to wreck towards the field. But Jr has raced enough to know what the consequences were. Thats why Darrell and Larry had those reactions. Vickers made a bad move. Jr made a stupid move.
Biggest difference between last lap cautions on Saturday and Sunday for me is that nascar could’ve easily thrown the caution before the white flag for the cup race. The Allgaier incident happened as they were taking the white.
Yep. They had time to throw the yellow or could have let them race back. But I would have thrown the yellow so the fans were maybe guaranteed a green flag finish, which is also something the fans had to be upset aboutz
Let's not forget when he took you out at Talladega in 2004 while you were running for a championship! Got his first win that day in the Hendrick #25 car by taking out Dale and Jimmie.
Being a Junior fan his entire career, what i remember most about the wreck was DW kept saying "that was wrong" over and over. He was the biggest fanboy of KB and got his feelings hurt.
Was the wreck between Dennie Hamblen and Kyle Larson not the exact same wreck as between Ross Chastain and Dennie Hamblen when Dennie was so pissed at😅 Ross to the point he went to Nascar crying that Ross did it on purpose and he cried about it since then? He then should be talked to by Nacar like Ross was? He needs to be penalized for his actions in the same race as last year because he did the same thing as Ross did to Dennie?
This is just another example of why NASCAR is pretty much done. They instituted a rule that was completely unfair and was enforced erratically. Originally the rule was if yo go below the line you get black flagged. It didn't matter if someone forced you down there, or you ducked down there to prevent a wreck. If YOU went below YOU got punished. For years I watched people get forced below the line by the maneuvering of another driver and the one forced below the line got punished. sometimes. Other times, apparently no body but me saw it happen. I used to say, it it was me, I would stand up in the drivers meeting and say, if you try to force me below the line, you better have your belts tight because I'm not going there. NASCAR has set up this fiasco they have now. They deserve what they have. The fans don't, but NASCAR does.

I do think nascar has shown they will not hesitate to throw the yellow when a bad crash happens. It was clear in this situation that he didn’t get hurt. If he was hurt it wasn’t something they could have predicted. They were quick with the yellow on the 20 car so why not be quick with the 41 and give us a GWC. Especially as no one wanted Denny to get away with what he did.
As soon as you said Daytona i immediately flashed to when Vickers cut you down. You cant try blocking and running someone down at Daytona when the car behind you is going 5-10 mph faster than you... Vickers panicked
Darrell said that was wrong, I don't care who you are that was wrong, Larry said totally uncalled for. I didn't care Jr I wanted you to win at all cost
I know Denny is not everyone's favorite driver but he will do almost anything to win a race. And we have had drivers in the past do the same thing to win. Just saying
I remember watching that race jr and I stood with you then and I still do now. I would’ve done the same thing and I’m sure Dale sr. Would’ve been right by you too. Rubbing is racing.
is it me or do these broadcast not have the same volume issues it used to be I could not have to turn my sound all the way up and now I have them pegged and can hardly hear Dale and the guy asking the questions
Vickers is a driver I'm glad is out of the sport, idc what the circumstances were that sidelined him. He raced dirty af at Dega in 2006 on the last lap.
We all appreciate the idea of letting the race continue as long as it is safe. But as fans watching who don't have the knowledge of a Sunday morning meeting, a rule that is different than normal feels like its been made up and is suspect.
I can understand debris being debris...but...yes get to a checkered however...if you are going to call a yellow at 1 venue and not another that becomes inconsistent. This making any debris call inconsistent regardless of the track....
You want me to let off and get behind you? That ain't how racing works. What a great quote

They were quick with the yellow on the 20 car so why not be quick with the 41 and give us a GWC. Especially as no one wanted Denny to get away with what he did.
Yeah, deal with the "diversions" Mikey. That's why we're all here.
I taped all the races from part of 85 and 86 an on I have taped full season for 30 years
As soon as you said Daytona i immediately flashed to when Vickers cut you down. You cant try blocking and running someone down at Daytona when the car behind you is going 5-10 mph faster than you... Vickers panicked
Enjoy your show
Thats cool that he said he would play more video games. i never took him as a gamer but thats cool as heck. im a huge gamer myself lol.
Darrell said that was wrong, I don't care who you are that was wrong, Larry said totally uncalled for. I didn't care Jr I wanted you to win at all cost
It’s always the Hendricks fans crying but then they don’t complain when their drivers do the same thing 😂
I know Denny is not everyone's favorite driver but he will do almost anything to win a race. And we have had drivers in the past do the same thing to win. Just saying
👍
I remember watching that race jr and I stood with you then and I still do now. I would’ve done the same thing and I’m sure Dale sr. Would’ve been right by you too. Rubbing is racing.
Upset because no Caution flag 41 got dumped. The 5 spun earlier flag. No more Caution checkered only green checkered except for weather or darkness.
In Pro Wrasslin terminology, Vickers got a Receipt from Dale Jr.
They blew it at Pocono not throwing the yellow for a stopped car at the end.
is it me or do these broadcast not have the same volume issues it used to be I could not have to turn my sound all the way up and now I have them pegged and can hardly hear Dale and the guy asking the questions
Keep hearing about your Becoming Earnhardt show, but I have no idea where to watch it..?
Vickers is a driver I'm glad is out of the sport, idc what the circumstances were that sidelined him. He raced dirty af at Dega in 2006 on the last lap.
We all appreciate the idea of letting the race continue as long as it is safe. But as fans watching who don't have the knowledge of a Sunday morning meeting, a rule that is different than normal feels like its been made up and is suspect.
As a life long fan of your Jr I had no problem with what you did to Brian. He forced you down and you had to get back in line. That’s was on him.
I can understand debris being debris...but...yes get to a checkered however...if you are going to call a yellow at 1 venue and not another that becomes inconsistent. This making any debris call inconsistent regardless of the track....
