I wasn’t a Dale or JR fan and this was a flashback! Best podcast I listened to in a long time!! Right behind the Justin Marks one! Lol I’m glad to see the hilarious bits on TH-cam!
To hear Jr say "That's fair" after Tony Jr says he had sympathy for her and understands why she didn't want to come around the track after Sr died..... That shows the growth and maturity that Dale Jr has had since everything went down.
I have never been much of a Earnhardt or Jr fan, but I do have to say that this Podcast show is one of the best things going in Nascar right now. Really is a great show and my hats off to Jr, Mike and everyone on the show!
100% correct. I feel the same way. Did not think much of Dale Jr. when he raced, but he is an excellent interviewer and broadcaster. I love it when FOX is done for the year, and NBC starts up their coverage of the races. The Lost Race tracks show is really good too.
@@iillestrs2153 " One of the best" That was a good one. Very funny. Any idiot can win at Daytona or Talladega. Danica Patrick was close to wining at Daytona.
DEI was to be Dale Sr's legacy. His gift to the coming generations. Something to outlive him, and keep his memory alive indefinitely. Theresa is the main reason it is all gone. One day, she will answer for what she has done. She is not alone, but she's a bigger reason than everyone else combined. And it's inexcusable. If she truly loved him, she would have seen to his legacy, and assured that it was forever.
I enjoy listening to Dale Jr. He just calls people out no matter what the topic is going to be about. Btw Dale Jr.. Thanks for the help to bring back North Wilkesboro Track...
I completely understand what Tony Jr. says about Theresa going back to the races, especially Daytona. I live 50 minutes away and have been there countless times, but for 20 years I have had mixed feelings that I never had before. I was in attendance in February 2001, stunned at what I saw and heard over the radio scanner. I was there in July of that year, with tears welling in my eyes as the 8 and the 15 sat in the trioval after the race. My God, what could have been........................
Dale Jr, thank you for sharing these stories and allowing us to better understand the path that you and the team traveled after the loss of your dad. I will forever be a fan of you and your dad. Love you all! God bless you all 🙏❣️
Much respect to Tony Jr for being respectful in his talk of Theresa as yes she’s flawed but losing Dale had to be rough especially Daytona. That said I firmly believe Jr motorsport is more DEI than post 2001 Daytona 500 DEI as while the name was there. Dale and his sister have done wonders for the sport bringing up people like Reddick, Elliott and Byron. Even chance 2 had great success.

What a solid yet stand your ground guy Tony Jr. is. He looks very content and living with no regrets. Seemed to always make the the right decision for himself and others around him. Good dude in my books.
This was awesome. When Tony Jr said he misses Sr every day, we all do, it really hit me. At the time of Sr's passing, he was the last active sports idol I had from my childhood, and it was particularly difficult for me. At the time athletes in other sports were my peers, so it was different. People can say ahhhh, you didn't know him...blah blah blah, but they just don't get it. I remember that day verbatim like it was yesterday, and I'll never forget it. Anyhow, it's sad what happened to DEI, and we could only wonder what could have been if Sr was still here. Thank you for sharing these stories with us.
I've listened to Jr's podcast off & on and liked every one of them, but whew...this one is by far the most favorite. Learning about what was happening behind the scenes at a time when the whole Nascar nation was still trying to come to grips with Sr.'s death has given me a new respect with what y'all were really going through. Keep it up you guys, you are what racing is all about and you're gaining more fans here all the time. I feel honored to have been able to meet Dale Sr at the inaugural race at Texas in 1997 and talk to him for a few minutes, all I can say is what a gracious man he was!

I started watching Nascar in the '80s and was a huge Earnhardt fan. My first and last race was the Brickyard in '95. My seats were right across from Dale Sr. pit box. Having him win the race made it even more special. Once Sr. passed I just moved over to Dale Jr. I watched him race and it gave me that need for racing. When Jr. finally stepped away I lost interest in watching Nascar. For me it just wasn't the same. I think Dale Jr. turned out to be one class act. Thank you and your family for what you did for me to be able to enjoy racing. I truly miss it.
Go to your local short tracks. If you're in the indy area check out CRA Super series. If you got time to get there they are at Winchester today. The racing starts at 6. They've had several cup drivers race in the series. William Byron raced at the Salem race earlier this year. It's way better than the abomination that nascar has become.
Great perspective from Tony Jr. I hope that Dale Jr. and Kelley can find a way to mend fences with Teresa someday. It would be great to see the 3 of them come together and work together on Dale's legacy.
I honestly don't think it will ever happen. Tony Jr wasn't the one being strong armed to sign rights to his name away like Dale was. Not to mention how she has gone after Kerry for daring to use the Earnhardt name with Schumacher Homes.

One other thing…Tony jr is a good man, I believe. My Grandmother was a wonderful human being in every sense. She never spoke ill of anyone, behind their back regardless of the situation. That takes a kind soul. Exactly what Tony Jr just did.
Dale Sr will always be my hero and was truly blessed and honored to meet him in October 98 in Nashville as he was introducing the new Monte Carlo. He was so extremely personable and gracious in the 5 minutes my husband and I were allowed to talk with him! Not every "hero" turns out to actually be down to earth and genuine as Dale Sr, but he was and that made me love him even more. After his death, I did watch the rest of the season because I needed Jr to bring healing to my family because we were in great mourning in my home, as if we lost our own. Unfortunately since, we just have no interest in watching anymore but we will always support and follow Jr! Much love to him, his Dad is beaming with pride from Heaven ❤❤❤
I thoroughly enjoyed that. I loved Dale Sr and have a tremendous amount of respect for you Jr. It was great to hear the behind the scenes and even though some of it I’m sure is a little uncomfortable, I feel like you own it. I believe your dad would be really proud of you right now.
Thank You, I always wondered what ever happened to DEI, I knew there were problems after Sr passed away and between Jr & Teresa but it all disappeared! RIP #3 Dale Earnhardt 🙏⛪
Unbelievable! You guy’s hit out of the park again. The Jeremy Mayfield interviews and anything with the Eury’s is awesome! The inside stories like this, I think are the true gems that set this show apart from any other outlet, in any sports media. The other sports media should be taking note. We wanna know what happened in that locker room, garage area? Great stuff!
Dale,my Dad was the Alley Cat starting racing with Smokey Unik in 1967 when retiring from the Army. He actually worked for Dick Moroso as a design engineer and used NASCAR as a proving ground. He knew your dad very well. It was a sad day when he passed, but I still have the memory of practically living at the racetrack.
Damn, that was good...I need start listening to this again....I've tuned Nascar out since it's went to spec car boring racing, but hearing these old stories and memories is really cool!

It's amazing to hear such open and honest conversations podcast after podcast. Especially these stories behind the curtain of DEI. Its amazing to hear them share all the good, the bad, and the ugly with such openness.
I feel like a broken-record whenever I say "best podcast yet!". Such a rich amount of meaningful content - especially for those of us who miss the NASCAR we knew. Tony Jr. is really sharp and really entertaining.
I love how Tony put this into perspective. Much appreciated. Nice to hear pretty much the whole story on this. And much love and respect to these 3 guy's. As a fan of Sr and Jr, cause us Sr fan's needed Jr when he passed, thank you for giving us fan's a little insight to the behind the scenes so to speak. And I loved hearing Tony talking about the springs too 😂😂 gotta respect the man for not wantin to give up the secret he figured out 🤘🤘
Except all that money. Oh and she alienated Seniors kids. DEI was what Senior wanted for the future and she bares the majority of the responsibility for destroying it.
Every single fan would and will tell you that we knew Earnhardt Enterprises would never survive without Dale Jr. and it didn’t. It is so extremely sad that Jr., Kelly, Taylor and Kerry didn’t have a fair chance to bond together and keep Dale’s legacy on the track. Teresa could have been the brains behind it if greed hadn’t set in her being. My husband and I would go to at least 5 to 8 races per season including ARCA races. When Earnhardt was killed, we put it all on Jr.! We were their at Daytona when Dale was killed and when Jr. won after Dale was put to rest. I did not see one person, man, woman and older children with dry eyes or not holding the number 3 in some way or fashion. I don’t think my heart has ever been the same since. It really put a dent in it. Oh the stories I could tell about with them off the track! I still love Jr. as if we were kin. That’s just how racing was. After Gordon retired, then Jr., we have lost our love for racing. Rock and Roll had a phenomenon which was Elvis Presley. NASCAR had a phenomenon, that was Dale Earnhardt!!
I agree with 95% of your comment. Well said! But, it was DEI, or Dale Earnhardt Incorporated, not Earnhardt Enterprises. Also, (and I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm trying to be open to both sides of stories) I wonder who was comforting Theresa after his death? The fan's had each other, the team's also had each other... T had a pre-teen daughter, that's basically it. Her parents had passed, I don't believe she had siblings, the only thing she had was just killed. Don't get me wrong, could she have handled Jr's decisions differently... She really didn't need to treat Kerry like she did. That was, in my opinion, going too far! Could she have asked for help, but she probably felt alone, and from experience, the last thing someone who feels alone is going to do is ask for help.... Yet alone a southern woman, who runs a million dollar business.... Just my opinion, and I hope she has found peace somewhere
@@johnobrien9718 its very easy for people who look at nascar as entertainment to forget that there are still hearts and minds behind each of the "characters" at the race track. this is articulated well, in my opinion. I cannot imagine the pain Theresa went through when Dale passed on, it always looked like he really was her whole world. Obviously the way she treated the other Earnhardts breaks my heart but it's all too easy to look in from the outside and judge someone for their mistakes.
That was a great insightful video of DEI history. I do remember following those years as they evolved. That answered some thoughts I had of what happened. Thank you for sharing! 👍👍

As an insider, I really can't help but shed a tear here listening to the pain, anguish, and hard decisions that had to be made AFTER the end of the #3 cars driver. I can't even say it. Peace to all. Hopefully time soothes out all bumps.
I think that reflects a lot of the fans quite frankly. Yes, Teresa became a widow and lost her rock through it all. At the same time, she then became vindicative and sought to destroy anyone who wanted to use her dead husband's name, included Dale's own offspring.
I can’t believe this, I was literally at that Pocono race! My lte wife was a huge Waltrip fan and we remember him getting the pole and leading a ton of laps.. he was waaaayyy ahead of everyone at the beginning of that race. Crazy story and awesome!!
Theresa made some horrible decisions in handling with Junior, Junior wasnt innocent himself. It is refreshing to hear a good take on Theresa as much as I despise her letting June Bug go to Rick. Good for Tony Eury being honest and remembering the good things! The duct tape stories hilarious!! And this whole highlight was awesome to hear.
It was nice to hear someone who knows stick up for Teresa and make you think about her perspective from someone who saw it. Tony Jr seems like a good human. I think most people are mad and blame her for the crumble of DEI, which we all know could've been great with Jr leading the way with good management he could trust.

I love these inside talks with the old crew. Thanks Jr.!!
Another great interview by Dale Jr. and Mike.
Jr has the best damn popcast out !! Great interview as always guys !! Tony Jr was one hell of a crew chief 💯🤟🏼👊🏼
Wish she woulda said yes…
Great stories
Dale,my Dad was the Alley Cat starting racing with Smokey Unik in 1967 when retiring from the Army. He actually worked for Dick Moroso as a design engineer and used NASCAR as a proving ground. He knew your dad very well. It was a sad day when he passed, but I still have the memory of practically living at the racetrack.
I absolutely love hearing these stories. Does anyone have a clip/video of the Eury Sr interview at Charlotte that they're talking about?
That took guts to speak real talk. Good for Tony jr
Damn, that was good...I need start listening to this again....I've tuned Nascar out since it's went to spec car boring racing, but hearing these old stories and memories is really cool!
The transparent honesty and sincerity of the content, there is no doubt that this channel is so popular with repeat daily viewers !! Wow, you guys were so very lucky to do all of this with family and very close friends !!
It's amazing to hear such open and honest conversations podcast after podcast. Especially these stories behind the curtain of DEI. Its amazing to hear them share all the good, the bad, and the ugly with such openness.
I sure do miss the ol' days of DEI , I'm so glad everything pretty much worked out and Dale's legacy is just as strong today as it was back then.
That 51 percent deal is the most Dale Earnhardt Sr move Dale Jr has ever made and I respect the hell out of him for that!
He didn't get it.
This podcast is the BEST one you have ever done! LOVE IT
I feel like a broken-record whenever I say "best podcast yet!". Such a rich amount of meaningful content - especially for those of us who miss the NASCAR we knew.
Tony Jr. is really sharp and really entertaining.
Every time I watch JR’s podcast, I feel like I’m sitting in a room with a couple of buddies
I agree that was the best interview I heard yet Evan though there all great this one I liked. More power to you guys.
This is the way talk shows, of all genres, should be conducted; frank, honest, but also respectful. Thanks for this, Junior.
And I loved hearing Tony talking about the springs too 😂😂 gotta respect the man for not wantin to give up the secret he figured out 🤘🤘
Awesome interview Awesome podcast.I love the genuiness of the conversation.
It's very touching to hear Tony Jr. say that Teresa lost everything,......because she did.
100%
Except all that money. Oh and she alienated Seniors kids. DEI was what Senior wanted for the future and she bares the majority of the responsibility for destroying it.
Teresa still flies private I bet! Is she close to dale jr?
@@Rogue_Wave5150 she is not. She's called the wicked witch of the South East for a reason.
Elvis is a good analogy 👌 I've never Heard that before but yes as an Earnhardt fan that's a good way to explain the unbreakable bond
DAMN STRAIGHT!! THANK YOU!!
@@johnobrien9718 She HAD SATAN!! DON'T YOU KNOW THAT!?
That was a great insightful video of DEI history. I do remember following those years as they evolved. That answered some thoughts I had of what happened. Thank you for sharing! 👍👍
Fantastic discussion of the events. Thank you!
Great interview! Reinforces Jr.’s stature for me for sure!!
Love hearing Teresa stories, they are never happy ones.
it sounds like she's a very selfish and bitter person , she didn't want DEI and she didn't want anyone else to have it either
Thanks to everyone.. Excellent
You guys do such a great job and hearing the stories is just really cool.
Thank you for putting all these events in context! 🤯
Jr has & will continue to surpass his father in many many areas ..... just not behind a steering wheel. Much respect to Dale Jr for who he has become 👍🏼👍🏼
I would really like to have Dale jr have Teresa on the show.. I would like to hear her side. Time heals everything.. i wonder if they're talking now..
That would be the show of all shows right there. Even Non Nascar Fans would tune in to that one!

As an insider, I really can't help but shed a tear here listening to the pain, anguish, and hard decisions that had to be made AFTER the end of the #3 cars driver. I can't even say it. Peace to all. Hopefully time soothes out all bumps.
Thanks for posting Guy's - very interesting conversation
16:43 That's how I felt about Teresa at first, the first few years after Dale's death. Of course my feelings changed throughout the years.
I think that reflects a lot of the fans quite frankly. Yes, Teresa became a widow and lost her rock through it all. At the same time, she then became vindicative and sought to destroy anyone who wanted to use her dead husband's name, included Dale's own offspring.
These are the greatest story's ever,thank ya'll
Had that 51% happened.... What a legacy that would have gotten to!!
I was a casual NASCAR fan at best, probably not even that. But man I really enjoy this podcast and hearing these stories.
That Jr / Michael wreck was straight out of Days Of Thunder . You wrecked both my cars , you're fired , you're all fired
Dale Jr this was a good interview and a lot of people love you Dale Jr✌🇺🇸🍺🍺🍺♥️👊
I can’t believe this, I was literally at that Pocono race! My lte wife was a huge Waltrip fan and we remember him getting the pole and leading a ton of laps.. he was waaaayyy ahead of everyone at the beginning of that race. Crazy story and awesome!!
what ended up happening to him that day?
@@djmohab2 I may be wrong but wasn't it some parts failure?
Great show Dale keeps getting better
Just plain WOW!!!!!
Love the Earnhardt's and. Eurys,
I'ts really great that you guys can share this kind of information with the fans. Very interesting, Thanks
Eury Jr's Dale Jr impersonation is great
Thanks for airing this segment, really explains what was going on in the family and how you guys all handled the loss.
Love the old school racing miss it terribly… Your show makes me smile and giggle thank you 😉
It was nice to hear someone who knows stick up for Teresa and make you think about her perspective from someone who saw it. Tony Jr seems like a good human.
I think most people are mad and blame her for the crumble of DEI, which we all know could've been great with Jr leading the way with good management he could trust.
Good lord she was total trash.
This is one of the best. Thanks!
Only can imagine if Dale Jr got the 51% ownership and DEI could’ve been running still today.
Jr would have a championship and they’d be contending to this day.
It would be greater than rcr
Sr built rcr, Jr would have built Dei
Teresa would be a lot richer and have more love and respect.
She blew it.
I absolutely love this podcast.
Dale dying really had a negative impact on NASCAR. I basically just quit watching when he left us. He truly was NASCAR. RIP 3
I have the deepest respect for Tony Eury Jr and his respect for Theresa Earnhardt.
Actually had me choked up.
