My grandpa passed away last Sunday, and his funeral was today. This was one of his favorite songs, he woke up to it in the morning. Now I listen to it all the time, and I'm not a country fan but Sugarland has become one of my favorite bands. This song is wonderful.
2:22 I remember walking home and seeing them filming this right next to my house. The guy playing the guitar in front of Chuns store on Haleiwa Beach Rd. Cool fact, they also made this location look like a bar in the movie "forgetting Sarah Marshall" They dressed up the outside to look like a bar, which was really confusing when I would pass by because there was definitely no bar there. Chuns used to be a mom and pop 7-11 type store where you could rent movies back in the day, and the hale wai served local food attached to it on the outside. Sadly it's just been vacant for many years. Happy it's used in the media. Unfortunately I had never heard of this band, country music isn't super popular here in Hawaii.
I loved Sugarland, and Jennifer Nettles was, maybe still is, a hottie. But what cracked me up was that she started her career as a Cafe Folk Singer. How could she try anything not country-fied? She has pretty much the biggest and most beautiful "twang" in her voice that I have ever heard. 😊
