7:44 No. The disadvantage is one would be stuck with solar PV technology after paying much for it. The tech evolves pretty fast that there's significant improvement in 5-10 years.
I don't see any value for these things unless the owner of the building despises the appearance of the PV panels and their locality requires a PV installation.

Valid point. If you are selling the property, you got have an advantage. In Scotland, properties with solar panels are valued up to 10% higher.

Plus you can subtract the cost of covering your roof with conventional tiles. Overall I think the integrated panels look good but the solar tiles seem to have too many points of failure.

RGS tiles have upgrade capabilities built in so they can quickly swap out cells with upgrades or replacements.

josh h And how much would that cost? I still maintain why settle for many small interconnected units subject to expansion and contraction and leakage on hundreds of electrical connections when you have tried and proven larger panels which can still form an effective roof. To replace non working or damaged shingles or tiles you’d have to be able to monitor every individual one. If you’re willing to pay more for potential problems then go for it.

@@mondotv4216 good points. However i still think it would be cheaper to replace a bad cell on the shingle system. RGS has a great efficiency rating and i believe leakage is not a problem. With it being a modular system diagnosing and replacing just one cell should be quick and cheaper than replacing a full size panel that can not have individual cells replaced. However the main thing is to get the right system for your needs and location so in my opinion any solar system is better than none. They all have different pros and cons. But they all can help our pockets and the planet long term.
