Like you, like your videos. I’m pretty sure I’m settling on the LCP 2 22lr as my first gun. Looks like your experience with ammo is the consensus. One TH-camr suggests it’s the shape of the front of the bullet that effects the feed. The rounder the better, the flatter the worse. Everyone has bad experience with the Winchesters. Thanks again.

I actually have 99 percent success rate with Winchester... I even have Winchester from the 90s that work perfect. I actually can't think of more than 10 failures out of the thousands of round I have shot. I have had a bad time shooting federal bulk and even a worse time with browning. And also a massive failure rate with armscor, if had up to 27 failures In a box of 50. Cci stingers will not cycle the casings in mine.. I only will trust Winchester super speed, 👌 Winchester hyper speed, and cci 36 gr cphp.. the cci velocitors did well. I have yet to fire my federal punch, Winchester Silvertip. Super loud gun

It’s just my experience, but I shoot federal punch which are flat nosed bullets and have never had issues with them feeding. They are nickel plated though to make feeding easier.

I chuckled about the Winchester .22 critique. I had the same experience with a box I picked up at Wallyworld. All sorts of failures in my LCPII, another auto, and a revolver.

    Thanks for the update.
Like another commenter here, mine has locked open with rounds still in the mag 3 times, and I've had the slide not drop all the way into battery twice in my first 500rds with minimags only. A simple tap on the back of the slide and it went back to business.
Mine runs everything else I've fed it since then, including punch, stingers, fed cp bulk, blazer, and golden bullets, with no fte's or ftf's. I also don't get the light primer strikes that a lot of other people have had problems with.
I use a tiny dab of super lube on the rails and top of the barrel, a tip I picked up from another youtube video, and it smoothed up the action a lot. Like you said, it's not the optimum sd tool, but easy to conceal, draw, and get quick hits on target, which is 99% of what you need to stop an attack.

I think it's insane that people obey such blatantly unjust, unconstitutional "laws" when we KNOW that unconstitutional "laws" have no legal power or authority. It amazes me that people in CA don't just go to neighboring states and buy guns (or build their own guns, which is very easy).

@@luistapia1942 Most people can do it though... and although nobody should ever have to, it's more than worth it to exercise a Right without permission when there are no other options (although anyone can build their own gun too though). As far as Human Rights go though, it's nothing more than an inconvenience... which is an extremely small price to pay to shed such unjust "laws" (because tyrannical "laws" can never exist when nobody obeys them... and there is absolutely Nothing they can do about it. We are a nation Of The People whether they like it or not... and we are governed Only by consent. There is no tyranny in this nation we do not deserve, because there is no tyranny in this nation that we do not allow (and therefore create for ourselves).

    New guy here,
Just picked up my lcp 2 3 weeks ago .The first 100 rounds I had every problem that could be had other than self destruction. I only stripped and cleaned then oiled at first .round 101...Pulled it apart and greased everything and did a good wipe down .I bathed 10 shells in grease and worked them in the mags and racked them out about dozen times .pulled everything apart once more and wiped down. Shot about 200 rounds and only one hang up . I believe most of the problems that everyone is having not to include bad ammo ,is the fact that mass production or not ;not single unit will act the same .Also take into consideration the stance of hand to recoil . Again No one will hold a fire arm the same way at that split second it takes to recoil. I'd like to know if there would be noticeable differences in the way a gun acts with some one wearing gloves to soften the recoil as to what ammo they know to be trustworthy. If that makes sense?
Away, great review, I picked up this little piece for the same reasons everyone else has , concealed yet effective ( hopefully will never find out first hand ) , fun little plinking gun , cheap and readily available ammo. Also I always had a soft spot for Rugers . Maybe down the road if I start having problems I will try spring kits or other mods but so far . Im liking it ,think that a bare bones stock unit is good to go off the shelf with this company.

Yea, I wouldn't suggest shooting the LCP right out of the box like it was a Glock 9mm or something. They need a proper clean and lube to work right, and they need to stay that way to maintain function.

Going through my ammunition tests of various rounds and at about a little over 500 rounds through mine I must concur that the Winchester ammunition was exceptionally unreliable. Remington Thunderbolt, the SK Semi-auto, a number of the Aguilla ammunitions, the CCI mini-mag, the CCI Velocitor and by for the best yet with zero issues has been the CCI poly coated 40 grain 1235 fps rounds. Both an older batch and a new batch I just received a week ago. All worked well for the time being. Oh and the Federal Punch was not very reliable either.

I got the galloway kit. I did not put it in because I wanted to just see how it would do. I'm at 2,000 rds with only one issue lately, It will lock back with ammo in mag. Only happened twice in the last 500. I don't plan on using the Galloway as of now. Stingers work well, no malfunction. I use 38 gr America eagle for plinking, Goldens, and 40gr American eagle. I'm using every ammo I have and no problems except the lock back. I'm thinking it's the lock back tab,on locking bar, that sticks in front of the nose of bullet in mag. I've seen some sand the very end off and polish. I may do that. I think the nose of the bullet hits it. Thanks for your videos! I would carry this NOW, but wouldn't when it wasn't broke in. At first I had every issue there is, I hated it, and would never think about carrying, the only thing that keeps me from carrying is the idea of having to drop mag to eject a dud if one happens, which is very low now, but could and will happen.

    Vis-a-Vis your music.
I'm the same way. Back in the late 80's I was into the CBGB'S Hardcore scene, and then the New Orleans punk scene. I always wore hearing protection. And I ate a bunch of flack for it. As soon as those Westone d custom high end filters hit $150 I got them, same with in ear monitors. Same grief from ppl.
I worked at Tipitina's for a decade, I've seen every famous N.O. musician a thousand times. Seen Steve Earl, Billy Joe Shaver with Kinky Friedman, (those two are hysterical together) NIN and a billion metal bands when I worked there. And the thing that always tried me out was how deaf many of them are, I mean stone deaf. I'd love to pro with my drums, and I'd to think I'm pretty good, I've played with some fairly big names.(humble brag) But at the end of the day I wanna go home and LISTEN to even more music, and these folks can't. No amount of fame or fortune is worth that, losing you hearing. Glad you're being smart about it.
Anyway, love yr channel, thnx for the info, keep shootin' and keep playin music. Gotta have fun in life or what's the point.

Been looking at this for target practice as I have a SIG P238, and had a slide lock issue 50 shots in. Got the replacement part and after 300 rounds had to get sent in for service. Another 400 rounds later and it’s been pretty solid. But the LCP has been looking pretty good for micro compact. This caught my eye after seeing how many rounds you’ve put through the LCP II.

Keep in mind, with these short barrels, there is no reason to use hollow points as the bullets can’t expand at these lower velocities. Find a good 40gr round nose solid that functions reliably, and stick with it.

His 1st shot went exactly 1 inch high at point of aim, the other 4 shots made a 1 inch ctc group an inch below his 1st shot. I have been trying to work with it to get better, but it is the dangdest thing, i cant lay down anything that resembles a decent group with the 380. Only way i can get it point of aim is shooting left hand both eyes open. I do not understand it. But then i got my eyes fighting over rather im gonna look down the sights or the right side of the gun. It is akward as all get out. The 22 for some unknown reason i might near cant miss. Have run enough rounds through it it just comes natural without much thought or effort. Love my lcp2 22.

I had to run several hundred rounds through my lcp max before I really got used to putting it on target the way I wanted to. And it's still one of the toughest guns I have to be accurate with. But I don't think it's the gun's fault. Just a characteristic of a tiny, lightweight .380.

I settled on Remington Golden Bullet for practice and Federal Punch for occasional carry. They cycle all 8 rounds consistently. I was surprised that a revolver would be ammo sensitive.

One thing to consider about how loud the punch and stingers are: I used the same gun to chrono both of those, and they were supersonic. I tested the Aguila interceptors and they were subsonic. Sonic crack definitely contributes. I can’t get punch to run in mine. They don’t have enough juice to fully cycle, so the slide doesn’t pick up the next round, or if it does it doesn’t fully cock the hammer.

It’s really only meant to be used in a Ruger mark IV classic pistol or a rifle. The very few companies that make quality ammo for 22LR. Please keep that in mind and also as others stated, maybe a spring kit upgrade.

Glad to see the 22lr can handle 1000s of rounds. A lot of people say the .380's can only handle a couple 1000 before they break. That's not verified and I don't know from experience, but have heard it from reliable people about all the really small .380's. (LCP, LCP II, P3AT, Bodyguard, PT 738, Spectrum, Curve, etc... (not sure if the RM 380, Pico, P238 or the P380/CW380 style guns are in the same list or not though, because they're all designed differently).

Most people don't put high round counts through their LCPs or pocket guns... so they rarely ever break or get worn out... but of the few people I've seen that do fire a lot of rounds through their pocket guns, they've destroyed them after only like 2000-5000 rounds. LCP's just happen to be the main one I've seen it happen to, but it's also the most popular by far and the most likely to be shot at a range for practice. People don't usually bring their smallest, most painful to shoot guns to the range unless it's necessary. (like to prove function from the gun and each magazine. (which don't take more than a couple hundred rounds throughout its entire life).

Granted, it’s a bit smaller than the version number 2 but it’s a very long trigger pull and a very small gun. It’s nearly impossible to hit anything with it. • @johnnyshootsalot
      @johnnyshootsalot  ปีที่แล้ว +3

Correct. It's doesn't throw them out like a centerfire pistol would. But I have not encountered any issue with that characteristic. Once you know what you're dealing with, it's just a matter of locking the slide back, ejecting the mag, and using a tool like a small screwdriver to get the bad round out. However, most of the time they will just fall out through the grip. It's not as much of an issue as it may seem.

It's very common for people to pinch the extractor closed on these little guns, when grabbing the slide to cycle a round.
The extractor is spring loaded and needs to be free to move in order to work properly, but the slide is so small that it's hard to grab it to cycle it without pinching the extractor, which can and does cause ejection issues.
Try using front serrations to cycle rounds, making sure not to impede the function of the extractor.

Sadly and unfortunately I bought two different models of the LCP 380. During the holidays my ranch store had the LCP ll 380 for $230 out the door, so I decided to give it a go...
It ended up shooting both low a left 3-5 inches depending on ammo at 5 and 7 yards, and not respectively either... Basically if I ever had to use it in self defense, I would have to aim at the perps left shoulder to hope for a hit at center mass sternum...
People will say it's not meant for 7-10 yards but ballistically speaking the 380 projectile has zero bullet drop at that distance... So when your POA POI is 5-6-8-10 inches low at 7 or 10 yards it's the gun that has a problem and not the 380 Auto cartridge...
Fast forward to a couple weeks ago... My ranch store had the most current iteration of the LCP Max, which is the 75th anniversary stainless steel model for $270...
So being the dummy I am I thought I'd give it a try thinking Ruger would have worked out this low left POI problem of previous models and batches... I also liked the other 4-6 extra rounds depending on magazine used... and the fact that the rear side is adjustable unlike the LCP ll 380...
Well… did they actually fix any of the problems thats plagued these guns for years? NOPE !
This gun too suffers from the same crappy low left POI plus additional issues the first LCP I bought didn't have.... and the Ruger manuel says it's rear sight is adjustable with a wood or plastic hammer head... 😆 but I tried with a brass punch and it won't budge...I read a comment that a guy tried a sight pusher and it still wouldn't move... 🤷‍♂️
So now I'm $500 into these guns and have *no hope that sending them into Ruger will actually solve the problems, meaning if they have the parts that are in spec and work to fix the guns why are they still manufacturing and shipping them out in crappy working order.... Because they don't…* Everyone of these guns shoot low...people that claim theirs is dead on at 7-10 yards are either lying because of fan boy status.... or just really haven't payed attention,.... are actually shilling for Ruger,.... and as I believe Ruger sends in bots to mop up bad reviews and comments,... or literally hit power ball jackpot...
And just to be clear, I'm saying they shoot low and left for certain and it's not my pulling my shots, I BENCH TESTED a hundred rounds through each gun...
Since you turned off comments which anyone with a brain cell knows why… on your Ruger LCP MAX 380 MAJOR Problems and BIG Solutions… Public Relations video I thought I'd post this here… Hey people… his big solution is send it to Ruger….
    Bahwahahaha

    • @Paelorian
      @Paelorian ปีที่แล้ว +2

Three years ago, you could buy a brick of 500-550 rounds .22LR for $20. Ten years ago, you could regularly find the same brick on sale for $10. If you bought in greater quantity, like a case, cost was even lower. At $20 per 500, it's $400 for 10k rds, or 10¢ a round. Ammo prices went way up in 2013, finally coming down in 2017, then went way up in 2020, and are still high. Many shooters who have lived through several of these cycles will buy in bulk when prices are low, if they can afford it.
