The lifetime desert dweller in me, loathes the sight of pouring out drinkable water. However, the long time subscriber and patriot within me, expects to see the ubiquitous cascading slow-motion water shot every time there's a bag review. I remember in a video posted many years ago where you stated, "Water is everywhere, and it helps to have a way to filter that water in a survival situation". My wife was the first to belt out a good chuckle when she heard that comment. It gave us both a good laugh, but we know what you meant. Another fantastic review of an important product everyone should have available. Your videos on both channels are always fun and enjoyable. Keep up the great work my friend.
mary baker Indeed. We fondly refer to it as the 'ubiquitous cascading slow-motion water shot'. Anytime I spill something on my Falcon 2, I immediately think of the Sootch shot. Thank you for the comment. Take care my friend.
lol, you could totally play a drinking game with a sootch video. bottoms up when you hear "really good", "really important", "really great", "really cool"
You left out the seriousness in his tone of voice. He sounds like invaders are just a few hundred miles away and marching at double-time. Better hurry up ,circle the wagons, and get them medical supplies ready. The enemy is on the way.
you should have the tourniquet more at the front. If you ever need to use that it needs to be as easy to get to as possible. The adhesive plaster you will have time to look after...
nice kit and nice MAxpedition pouch. What I miss is teh decompressionpen and a samsplint. I would put the tourniquet on the outside through mollystrap or so... Very nice!
When compared to the Classic FR-1, the new FRP is 1/2 inch thinner and does not have the molle on the sides. I don't think I could fit my items in my current FR-1 onto the smaller new version. I applaud Maxpedition for being innovative with the AGR line, I just hope they don't completely abandon the Classic products.
I ordered one of these and just got it yesterday and just finished stocking it up. Lots of room and very sturdy feeling like all of Maxpeditions gear. Agree with your review 100%, a huge thumbs up for this pouch!
Instead of the limiting cord, there should be adjustable side gussets to allow quarter, half, and fully open, while still holding everything in while you are digging through it.
I have a one of my older led flashlights in my doctoring bag but it's some what deep inside. In my mind it's one of the first things you need to assess an injury or wound. Chem-lights are are paramount for assessing illness and getting vitals. So next to your 7 hook you should have a flashlight. Along with that two Chen-lights on the outside of the pouch. One last thing that may be useful is a small white led key ring light inside attached so it can be used to find supply's or drugs in the dark. It needs to be white so it will not cause packaging labels to disappear.
thanks for the discount code, it helped when I just purchased over $500 worth of Maxpedition products. I too love the Maxpedition brand. I have been waiting for quite some time to get to do a free-for-all shopping spree.
There is a huge closeout sale going on at maxpedition on a lot of the classic style stuff. I assume to make way for this Advanced Gear Research stuff. God knows I have spent like 300 smackers there in the last week.
I like the new packs, however, Maxpedition discontinued the most logical color for 80% of USA. Some packs, like a med pack I would purchase in other colors like for this pack I would love red, but I don't have that choice. I contacted maxpedition yesterday and they did confirm OD Green is discontinued. I don't know that it would help, but if you could let them know that od green is a color we want.
Thanks Sootch for the helpful Maxpedition reviews! This is my first comment on your channel. This pouch looks nice but seems to be two steps forward, one step back. I like the new look, the attachment material is slick, and the zipper pulls are better. But as on most of the AGR gear, they've removed some of the very customizable molle straps on the side of the bag. I hope this isn't the trend for Maxpedition going forward. The FR-1 makes a great centerpiece for adding other pouches and such. It's surprising what you can lego together when you get creative with these bags. Sadly this one is not quite as customizable.
I think im gonna opt for a gp pouch/surplus mag pouch to hold my ifak and just have everything in a ziploc bag ready to go but this pouch would be awesome for other gear :)
The TQ is on the inside, stuffed in the back. It really needs to be on the outside and readily accessible. Furthermore, the contents label for the trauma essentials kit makes mention of a 6" compression bandage; that appears to be missing from the FRP loadout and is not even mentioned.
Great vid sooch, I'm going to buy a couple of there bags pretty soon..hey, I have an idea for one of your "everyday things for survival" a video showing some kits with an old altoids tin..I've got a small fishing kit I use all the time, and I started to make a fire kit. I'd love to see what you use them for or idea you'd come up with
nice videos, very comprehensive! say i was watching a succession of your vids including this one & you were mentioning an online gear store & i've forgotten the name, watched a few of the vids again but didn't catch it... do you have any idea? thanks!
Great review! I just bought a Maxpedition smartphone pouch of the same series in black. Snug fit with an iPhone 6S plus with in an Otterbox defender case.
sorry but im a "OldshoolMaxpeditionGuy" i miss the feeling in the new series , that when a bomb hit me ,the pouch survives it !. The new bags with the 500dn are more for the catwalk as for the "hard gear use" .Only my opinion
Hey sootch I was wondering if you could a review on a knife I found in Amazon I haven't been able to find a review on it but it's only about $60 if you'd like to I could send you a link
Sorry, yes its a purse. Welcome to our world! Maybe that can help you allbdevelop for women that don't carry backpacks everyday, but need more than we normally carry for get home or bug out. Thanks!
This pouch seems lower quality than the original FR-1. It does´t either solve the problem of organizing your gear, as the pocket open on the narrow vertical upper end instead of opening horizontally which makes it easier to get what you want. Inside, the elastic straps when located at the center, makes bulkier, leaving un-ocupied space at the sides. The bottom should have elastic straps in the inside to hold rolled gauze. Still no room to have all together a CAT Tourniquet, CPR mask, Israeli Bandage, Triangular bandage, Quick cloth, with all the usual stuff inside. Seems like designers are going the wrong way. Why not a version of this pouch with 1 1/2" inch thicker and an internal removable mesh to keep the CPR mask handy. By the way love SensiblePrepper´s reviews.
The hole in the bottom seems not very practicable. It is more likely that moisture comes in and damages the medical gear then the need to let moisture out through a hole...
No other youtuber running a gun channel has enough knowledge as sootch00. Whether firearms, gunsthmithing, survival, tactical gear, first aid, apocolypse prepping, marksmanship and the list goes on... RESPECT
This new line doesn't look like an improvement at all. Maxpedition has made their new pouches and bags less customizable and less durable. I guess if you like a more "modern," or "designer" look (that pattern material actually reminds me of my mother's designer handbags), then these bags are for you, but I prefer the classic Maxpedition.
The molle webbing replacement looks like recyled tyres and alien to the rest of the pouch. This train is going the wrong way and I fear this means the "legacy" look won't get any future improvements like the finer mesh.
I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who feels this way. Maxpedition attempted to fix that which was not broken. Marketing less denier as something other than a cost-cutting scheme.
Not sure if this is a simple cost cutting scheme. I think they do the "Samsung thing". Samsung also tried to blow up their portfolio to fit every niche of the market. After that they shrunk it again. Maxpeditions introduction of so many addtional colours lately lets me also think that way. Too much money pouring in?
Jens Lange probably not a "scheme." I think you're probably correct. Maxpedition is probably marketing to the metrosexual types from the look of these bags. Hopefully they don't lose touch with their base.
I feel like maxpedition is just trying to make stuff look too futuristic I like Molle webbing hate laser cut and what's up with that honeycomb pattern I feel like just as things were starting to get good gear wise some one went and ruined it. I want gear that marines would use not power rangers
One recommendation, move that CAT to the outside of the pouch. That way it's the quickest to access.

kind of a Sootch trademark to have water in slomo lol
mary baker Indeed. We fondly refer to it as the 'ubiquitous cascading slow-motion water shot'. Anytime I spill something on my Falcon 2, I immediately think of the Sootch shot.
Thank you for the comment. Take care my friend.

haha, love it

Filip Šorli I have mine packed pretty full and it goes everywhere, everyday with me and has held up perfectly so far and I'm not easy on my gear.
Instead of the limiting cord, there should be adjustable side gussets to allow quarter, half, and fully open, while still holding everything in while you are digging through it.
Throwing water on a pack or pouch in slow mo now that's a Sootch video god dammit.
I have a one of my older led flashlights in my doctoring bag but it's some what deep inside. In my mind it's one of the first things you need to assess an injury or wound. Really cool and helpful video. Maxpedition FRP IFAK already purchased.
Thank you for sharing.

Nice looking design. Nice to see it works well too.
Could you also review the DEP since that is a product which would go well with the EDC stuff you do. Thanks
I like the new packs, however, Maxpedition discontinued the most logical color for 80% of USA. Some packs, like a med pack I would purchase in other colors like for this pack I would love red, but I don't have that choice.

Have you ever talked about sam splints? Those things are great!
When are you going to get the Wolfspur and do a review on it?

just started the video and I already LOVE IT!!!!!!!!

Traditional Molle isn't "cordura" it's webbing. There is no tear off feature.... and where the f bomb is your TQ?
The TQ is on the inside, stuffed in the back. It really needs to be on the outside and readily accessible. Furthermore, the contents label for the trauma essentials kit makes mention of a 6" compression bandage; that appears to be missing from the FRP loadout and is not even mentioned.
Is that a faint F-Bomb in the blooper reel? 13:01ish...Love ya Sootch! ;)

Was that Mr T at the end??
Not sure about the look on the newer one...
nice videos, very comprehensive!

Great review! I just bought a Maxpedition smartphone pouch of the same series in black. Snug fit with an iPhone 6S plus with in an Otterbox defender case.
The nylon on front and back doesn't look like it will last.

This looks like it would make a good EDC pouch. Does anybody know if it will fit an iPad mini with an OtterBox?
How are the shoulder straps on those next gen Max. Packs?
Will a 36” SAM splint (folded over multiple times) fit instead the Maxpedition?
great video as always sootch
Nice kit. What BP you using in the video?
It seems a little too much like the fr1 I already have for me to want one. The accordion pouch is interesting though.
always enjoy your review..keep on doing a good Job
Does it come with the clips to attach to it to molle?
I just got one of these myself, were your "elastic" loops really firm and rigid and not really elastic?
nice video, good channel just subscribed, very helpful ideas. what model of backpack is that, i like the way the FRP attaches to it... thank you.
Sorry, yes its a purse. Welcome to our world! Maybe that can help you allbdevelop for women that don't carry backpacks everyday, but need more than we normally carry for get home or bug out. Thanks!
Good stuff keep it going Sootch
Did you buy this or was the pouch sent to you?
One question my friend what pack are you running in this video? Great insight as usual.
maxpedition riftcore
Besides this really nice Maxpedition FRP, I like your ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ Tee-shirt!!! King Leonidas forever!!!

Great Vid Sootch
Will a 3" belt fit through it?
nice video Sootch! as always great job! :)
Can you attach this to the riftcore??
Are the new GEN 7 CAT tourniquets made with metal or plastic?
platic
"...this isn't a purse it's a 'Saatch'-el."
He should have called it a 'Sootch'-el... ;^)
Awesome review as always! Just ordered one 👌🏼
The hole in the bottom seems not very practicable. It is more likely that moisture comes in and damages the medical gear then the need to let moisture out through a hole...
older design is much more rugged. there is a reason this costs less
strong enough for some, but not the strongest
Thanks Sootch!
Did you get a new truck?
Probably just a new hood.
Wake Up Canuck hahaha I laughed harder than I should have at that
hollowpointkid Copy. Couple of Sootch geeks.
Nice pencil case review!
Good info, 4 all.
17 dislikes from people who use theirs as a purse lol
Eric Beasley I loled.
I surprised there weren’t more just from the people who are still mad at Benchmade.
Great idea thank you for the video.
I still prefer the FR1
what backpack?
Maxpedition Riftcore backpack
+sootch00 will you be doing a review on the Riftcore?
You may have addressed this in videos before now, have you taken a "first responder" course of any kind?
Great review! Thanx
love your vids
Thanks~

lol I love the gear porno at the beginning
Is it me or does the intro sounds like cheesy porn 😂😂 great review thoo
You say "cheezy" like its a bad thing.
I don't know.... does it? Lol
hey sootch I would appreciate it if you stopped by my channel and let me know what you think of my bug out bags. always a fan of your work.
cool
Honestly not a fan of the new designs :(
Vanquest Fatpack 5x8 trauma pouch much better design and practically, and for less, IMHO.
I waited 13 mins to realize that this wasn't a true trauma kit. It's just a bag for trauma....
Check out skinny medic
What are you missing? i see compressed gauze, tourniqet, chest seal, npa.
I feel like maxpedition is just trying to make stuff look too futuristic I like Molle webbing hate laser cut and what's up with that honeycomb pattern I feel like just as things were starting to get good gear wise some one went and ruined it. I want gear that marines would use not power rangers
Hey I'm a big fan.
First.
Love your vids
If you'd be a true fun you'd keep that juvenile ""FIRST!!!1!1!"" shit out of the comment section
+wouternet94
Calm down my dude.
+wouternet94 look I'm sorry man I just thought it was kinda cool
Thanks Will! And congrats on being first : )
not sure i like this new way there going with this new line
You’re not doing a very good job of pouring that water into the pouch. It’s spilling all over the place.
The more you carry in your head, the less you carry on your back. get to know your surroundings.
After realizing what you really stand for, I discontinued watching your videos. Very disappointed with you in TEXAS !
