    note regarding side of house and windows.I have single story ranch home, I had only a ring doorbell, intruders were able to go undetected in the street and gained entry through a window on side of house into garage, destroyed garage door into the house, exited through bedroom side window on opposite side of house. thus why I am here now to figure out the best places to put my new cameras, the sides of the house will definitely be a part of the configuration

    I purchased a set of 16 as I have a corner property. Covered all 4 sides, back yard, garage exterior and interior, all points of door entry both inside and out. They have voice and facial recognition. Onwote system. Also, they are connected to master bedroom TV, adult daughter TV, and family room TV. Click of a button and full view of all 16 at once. Nice video, I would definitely relocate that front door camera facing out so if they have a car you stand a chance of getting it as well.

    Great information George, first question I have is pretty sure you said in one of your videos it is best to have a camera be on 24/7 on a loop feed. Everything I have checked into with HomeKit seems to only come on by motion? The Eufy looks like it comes with its on hard drive so maybe that one is different? Second question I have a park in my back yard is it better to have a camera pointing towards the park or at the back of the yard pointing towards the house? Thanks George keep the great videos coming...

    • @GeorgeLangabeer
      @GeorgeLangabeer  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you! Eufy & Homekit won’t be 24/7. The best wifi solution that is 24/7 is Google Nest. But the absolute best would be a wired NVR system. You can get Nest into HomeKit. Easiest way is The Starling Home Hub. Second answer is always be selfish. Lol…back of the yard toward the house is best.
      Appreciate the continued support!

    Door bell cameras seem too close to be effective. Nextdoor postings show fisheye pictures often not useful for identification, and a short focal length that doesn't reach beyond the porch. Plus, a criminal with a strip of black tape can block the camera. Your thoughts?

    • @GeorgeLangabeer
      @GeorgeLangabeer  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Depends on the video doorbell. There are some video doorbells that have great cameras. Most police departments will tell you they’ve never had as much evidence as they do now, thanks to video doorbells. They have aided in capturing more criminals than any other security device. Not to mention, in addition to video, the audio feature of a video doorbell is also key. With the two way audio, you can make people think you’re home when you’re not & that alone can scare away a thief.

      Unfortunately, that’s going to be the case with any video doorbell (because of the height). You just need to buy one that’s the most vandal proof. The new Aqara video doorbell is bulky, but it has a very loud alarm that sounds when it’s forcibly removed. I show an example in the review I did…th-cam.com/video/0UCRHo3sbTY/w-d-xo.html

    That's what happened to my neighbors a couple years ago, they left the garage door open and someone came in through that door and tied them up and robbed them. After that I put a keypad lock on mine in case I left the doors open. Another thing alarm companies never do is wire the side door on the garage, had a professor years ago that was robbed like that. The alarm was on but the thief hid in the garage until he turned the alarm off and came into the garage and boom so my side door is wired in. I also have stuff against it and a camera in the garage. The garage though, that's a biggie. Even now so many of my neighbors still leave their doors open all the time, I just shake my head. My buddy also wired in cameras on the island in his cul-de-sac in addition to the ones on his house. I will probably do the same in the summer.

    #1 How high should cameras be installed to limit alternation/damage by a criminal?
    #2 Why are cameras shown not painted same color as the walls to be more disguised? Careful taping of the lens will prevent paint on the lens.

    • @GeorgeLangabeer
      @GeorgeLangabeer  2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      1. My rule of thumb is at least 8-10 feet. You want the thief to at least need a 6 ft. Ladder to reach them.
      2. You don’t want the cameras to be disguised. Cameras are a deterrent & should be seen. I say it all the time, “you have no idea how many times a camera pays for itself by what it deters without you knowing”. If a thief sees a house with cameras, MOST of the time, they will go to the next house.
      Also…painting your cameras will void the warranty.

      Once again, I respectfully disagree. & it’s not “my great picture quality”. It’s just a simple fact that the quality is good enough to catch these people & I have real life events to back it up.
      Sorry cloud cameras have you so bitter. Lol

    None of those cameras will help if the intruders use Wi-Fi jammers. And they use them more and more now.. Everything should be wired ideally. Also, those cameras are terrible at identification (2mp), the resolution is so low that you will never be able to identify an intruder.

      The use of wi-fi jammers is incredibly rare. In fact, They don’t use them more & more. It’s only people like you saying they do, that people think it’s common. It’s Les’s than 1% of all theft incidents. Yes, wired is better, but these cameras deter crimes & help solve crimes everyday. Cameras were a good option even back in the analog/720p days. At 2MP, with facial recognition alerts person alerts these are a perfectly viable security option. Most certainly better than a burglar alarm and definitely better than nothing. Cameras (even at 2MP) deter more crimes than any other security option available.
