The way she said about it was blasphemy. I feel you cannot stop someone from speaking up their thoughts but those who speak should have a little bit of humanity that stops them from insulting someone else's beliefs.
Secularism means to treat religion as part of human culture and keep it separated from modern law and politics because modern law and politics should be applicable universally and should be independent of personal religious belief. Hindus have to work hard by following Updanisads with are quite secular. Christians are quite liberal and cool, thanks to logic and spiritualism of new testament which is quite secular. Muslims should focus on following their secular teachings (if any). Muslims have to work extra hard to keep modern law and politics water-tight separate from their religious beliefs.

When I was young, we had only doordarshan where a 30 mins news was telecasted two times a day. That was the way of news to be telecasted. No debate, no argument programne in the name of news. News means you have state some facts whatever is going on. It is not like news reporter can become judge and give their own decisions what they think about any topic. Now a days whenever open a news channel whatever it may be whether regional news channal or central, only you can hear people are shouting at each other in the name of debate. In my school days I have participated in many debate contest, and this is not the way a debate should be done what these news channels telecast now-a-days. Some fringe people are invited/take part in these debates and give fire to some sensitive issues. And then there comes more such people those who make trouble for common people of all communitities in the name of protest. Those who are intellectual people, have sense they dont do such things whatever community they belong from. And this social media is on another level. Everyone is judge here and giving whatever comments they like.

Actually Doordarshan was simply a replica of the Communist media, exactly like North Korea. Be thankful that actually free media is now available. Even with Godi Media you still have alternative and still aware of other sources. Just imagine generations of scripted and narrative information circuit with no free media. Yeah no NDTV no The Print no The Quint no Any other source and only and only Government showcasing there Propaganda. Zee was one of the early pioneers of Private Media channels.

I can say I'm an "honest conservative", I don't support anyone who hurts anybody's religious sentiments, be it a Hindu or a Muslim, no one has the right to hurt other's sentiments in the name of "freedom of speech"... In my opinion, media and we people should focus on actual serious problems rather than just getting engaged in practice of hurting one another's feelings and sentiments, there are thousands of issues which don't get attention just because media shows only this type of controversies for TRP and popularity
