      I read on Hacker News that it usually starts of fine but then during the design more and more features get added but it’s too late to upgrade the chip at that point. Poor management. (Which I blame on most CEOs disrespecting software. They do not appreciate the complexity.)

    I want one, but not at $200k. Couldn’t this be more competitively priced.? I see a $100k gorgeous topless EV with an $100k Maserati badge tariff in price. Sell 3 -4 X as many vehicles each year to make your money. Follow the marketing of the 2015 Macans S model,they sold near 60k units that year plus close to 8-10 k units of Turbos at over $100K. Porsche had a huge hit in ‘15-‘16 and made lots of dough with the Macans.
    Maserati should do this car in volume too with their top end model sold at whatever ridiculous price they can get.
    With better software, I,d buy this EV tomorrow just on the looks of it and my need for an easy daily driver with range of 200 -250 miles.. that’s all I want. To drive in my beloved Calif topless in an Easy and fun to drive EV for no more than $100k. Probably won’t happen, but someone else could easily copy this format and sell a lot of cars. Everyone would pay $100K for Maserati badge instead of Rivian or Tesla or Hyuandai, Bronco/Mustang

  • @SoCalVipers
    @SoCalVipers 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I would love to own one. But 200k doesn't make sense. Is it really any better than a 60k EV? It's beautiful and it's a convertible - for that reason, I can see paying 80-90k. but at 200k it needs hold it's own as a sports car. It needs to be as good as a $180k 911. or a 120k Corvette.

    • @jpl8878
      @jpl8878 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It has 750 horsepower, three motors, torque vectoring, drift mode, adaptive air suspension, usable rear seats for a cabriolet, and it's silent (which is a plus for me). It holds its own at that price as a grand tourer - it's not a sports car. I'd take it over a 911, Corvette, or any other ICE sports car out there because they're ICE and I don't want an ICEV. The better question is, will it be worth twice the price of the Boxster EV? That remains to be seen, but from the trickle of information released about the Porsche I think I'd rather have the Maserati even with the price difference.

    • @SoCalVipers
      @SoCalVipers 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@jpl8878 The Boxter EV really excites me, but you can spend $180k on an ICE Boxter. My guess is that the Boxter EV will start at over 150k. (I hope I'm wrong).

      I really like this car, but so much to learn about newly developed, overly expensive, EV performance stunning sports models such as these???? How can I subscribe, buy into a subscription of sorts so Kyle and Colton can guide me through the process of educating me to learn what I must to maybe buy one of these in a year or two when STELLANTIS finally, if ever, gets this EV model done right. I’m all in as long as they stick with Italian or American based tech as this beauty is refined and perfected. If it turns out to be a Chinese EV with a Maserati badge, I’m out. A newbie here looking for his first EV, but it has to be on par with the design and engine performance we used to expect from the best Italian auto makers

    Not sure this works. Maserati’s were always the poor man’s Ferrari. Exhaust & sound was main reason to own a Maserati.

      And now there are other reasons. You can still get the exhaust and sound if you want

      Maserati is a grand tourer or luxury car with the Ferrari drivetrain. Ferrari is a race car. I don’t think Maserati is a ‘poor man’s Ferrari.’ They’re in different categories.

    Kyle has great fun with exotic EVs… even though most of us will never be able to afford them.

    $200k, I insane prices, I guess for people that don't care and have money to burn

    200k USD and this software... Lately, there are so many reports about how outdated European car manufacturers are in terms of software, this is an excellent example :S I'm surprised how badly they don't care or understand the importance of the software in an EV...

    imagine the day supercar manufacturers start coming with $50k or less fast cars for the average joe , but no let feed into capitalism , and democracy and make my pockets as deep as i can because when i die i will take all the money and all my possessions with me.
    right ?????

    When $200k can’t get you software anywhere near Kia standards. That tells you the hardware is cheap crap too. So yeah, a normal Maserati.

    Grey/black combination was boring. But, what color is the other one? Depending on light, it looks like a pink-gold combination. Too feminine for a guy?

    Philosophical disagreement with one pedal? I have a philosophical disagreement with buying cars that don't have one pedal...not that I could afford one O_O...same reason I don't like Kia's EVs...the one pedal is way too annoying to activate and can't be used in reverse etc.

    "Come on Man, 200k for a car that looks like a 24k 2015 Maserati... You are passing many great cars on the way to 200k... Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares needs to be Fired...!!!"

      Which of those great cars is an electric 2+2 convertible with 750 horsepower? If that's specifically what you want then those other cars basically don't exist. Maybe the SL63 hybrid if you're willing to still put up with ICE...but that's the same price. When the electric Boxster comes out it might give buyers some pause, but the powertrain won't be as nuanced and it won't have the same breadth the Grancabrio does

    No matter how fast this car is, cant outrun the depreciation. Especially when you will end up with an EViata convertible for cheap eventually.

    Maserati is run by fools. They bungle the mass-market cars, then occasionally make something gorgeous, and their immediate impulse is to overcharge for it so much that it ruins the volume. The difference between the volume of 100k cars vs. 200k cars is more than 10:1. At 200k and above, it's not about price, but about what it offers you in status and exclusivity.
    Maserati at this point is just a brand name slapped on Stellantis products.
    Maserati will be likely sold to some Chinese firm to salvage some money; bankruptcy is inevitable given their bungling. Alfa Romeo is in a similar sad state.
