Nah he seems like one of those cheap Phase Transition bosses like in FF7 Remake. Even if you do all the damage in the world combining every limit break together from the start, it would only deal 25, 33, or 50% of the bosses HP which would knock them into the next Battle Phase.
@@KillaBryx i mean in bowsers inside story you can skip the second phase of the final boss by outdamaging the 1000hp heal he gets when you first knock him down, so in other words you can phase skip and insta kill him

I just save all my SP for boss battles. Though I will admit it makes the Challenge Medal run hellish since every enemy takes 2.25x longer to kill and can kill you 2.5x faster
@@psychopianist630 I save up to 10 before a boss fight. The rest I'll casually waste for tougher enemies. Plus, the few HP & BP restoration blocks help too.

I like the detail that Magic Window didn't infinite because they literally buried Sephiroth too far into the ground. That's such a cool way of showing its strength.

Alphadream is the team behind the Mario & Luigi series, they went bankrupt a few years back sadly, but square could easily revive it to make it completely canon like you said

I love how Sephiroth is still ridiculously strong, as evidenced by how powerful Supernova was. Unfortunately for him though Mario and Luigi can just deflect/dodge literally everything.
Well... supernova isnt really strong, actually the attack CANT even kill you cause its just do a 1/18 of the total hp dmage

The fact he didn't disintegrate into a bajillion stars is a bit sad but doesn't change the amazing quality of this animation
I think it's a nice touch that Sephiroth is a boss like Bowser where he only faints and not disappear into stars. He is still strong enough to stay in one piece but still beaten up by the brothers. Kind of like the season finale of One Punch Man. "You were holding back, weren't you?"

If you shove all your points into attack you can easily miss out on most of the boss attacks.

Nice touch on how Luigi has more health, but Mario does more damage during Magic Mirror, which matches how the bros' stats are in the games
As someone who only played original superstar saga. Is that consistent across all Mario & Luigi games?
@@JoelHernandez-tz3vk yep, pretty much. Mario stat growths favor Attack and Speed, while Luigi's stat growths favor HP and Defense. Consistent from Superstar Saga up and into the Bowser's Inside Story remake.

@@folmhaigh039 even if it's undodgeable (utter horse shit) you could just have a character outright tank it. Even a few Nintendo characters are accustomed to that level of attack. Mario and Luigi among them but there's also Kirby. Then it doesn't take a long search to find other characters who would not only be able to dodge but also utterly ignore anything sephiroth could dish out. Examples include Superman, Saitama, Goku, darkseid, Thanos, Thor(marvel) and Ben Ten.

That's 100% accurate. They've used the hammers to deflect energy attacks in the games too.

Technicalities aside, Nintendo and Square had shown that Mario, Peach, Bowser and whatever party members you had are capable of handling Final Fantasyish bosses as seen in Super Mario RPG

The funny thing is that I’m certain that if the Bros really wanted to, they could’ve used Zee Egg to summon the Zeekeeper (who is an actual God) to end the fight in one turn. They just stuck to their Bowser’s Inside Story Bros Attacks out of pity for ol’ Sephy.
The zeekeeper is an extremely weak God. He has less destructive potential than the falling star the bros have naturally. The bros are stronger than that "God" by far.

Crazy though. The highest I've seen in actual gameplay was only five digit numbers. Theoretically, when Bowser finishes Dark Bowser at his limit in Bowser's Inside Story, he might deal close to 100K damage.

Tbf is an ANIMATION and not the actual game so the animator had a bit more creative freedom

Genuinely, one of the best things about the M&L series was the sound design. The little jingles for Great or Excellent attacks, the 'wops' when the bros jump... And of course, the 'CLOCK' of a hammer strike. It's just so SATISFYING.

I was waiting for the little shimmering effect when you defeat a boss in mario and luigi bowsers inside story but this was a masterpiece nonetheless
Yeah. It's gotta be really difficult to beat Mario and Luigi considering they've survived a black hole, falling depths which no one could survive, beating foes several times bigger then that. And so on and so forth. Plus I don't think he was built to be jumped on. Just cut and blown up.
Real talk tho, the smoothness of these sprites alone make me long for a new Mario & Luigi game
Something I have always loved about the mario and luigi series is the ability to dodge any attack. You still get hit plenty, but whenever you have mario down, luigi at 16 hp, and a barrage of attacks coming your way, there is still the chance of surviving it if you are only skilled enough.

All... the details...luigi having more hp and mario doing more damage, sephiroth indicating he's attacking mario by flashing red, magic window ending because it was physically incapable of ending, luigi just jumping due to a lack of sp, the total damage showing up after multihits, I'm pretty sure luigi also got more lucky hits. THE DEFLECT FOR THE SUPERNOVA STARTING WITH THE JUMP ICON THEN SWITCHING TO HAMMER (which would actually have been a cool ingame mechanic)... this isn't just an animation. this is ART!
Edit: so i also noticed the lucky hits during the magic window part were the hits to start burying sephiroth, which is also really clever!
